  1. Bloody Hell Tony, I'm more confused than ever now. Still, at least there's no boots, just re-issues. I can live with that. Thanks . . . . . I think.
  2. How about Bar-B-Q - Wendy Rene on Coronation Street?
  3. Tony, Are you sure that isn't the other way around? ie the thin yellow wavy line through the thick black stripe indicates the legit re-issue?
  4. Did you say this was on Uptown?

  11. Anybody out there ever remember a Richie Havens record being played at the Twisted Wheel? It was probably off an Lp BUT it MIGHT have been a 45, but I don't really know. It was likely to have been on Verve, either US or UK, but again, I don't know. Anyhow, please put your thinking caps on and help me out here, please!!!
  12. Are both releases the same? By that I mean, are they both the same recording?
  13. Ah so!!! :o)
  14. :o) So what's the label of the Japanese Lp?
  15. How do I get to my own Playlist?
  16. As a collector with a fixed speed turntable (33 & 45 rpm only), there's nothing worse than playing a record that you've heard pitched up, or down, after you've finally tracked it down, only to find it sounds too fast or too slow at home on your own turntable. I suppose by admiting that I have gone out, tracked down, and purchased a record on the basis that I liked it at the speed I heard it at but didn't know it had been pitched up or down, that the concept works, and in a way it does, BUT it does rather spoil things at home on your fixed speed turntable, don't you think? Funnily enough though, having said all that, I heard 'Cleopatra' at a venue a few years ago, unbeknown to me at the time it was slowed right down to 33rpm I think, then picked up a copy about a year or so ago, only to find I actually liked it better at the correct speed. So, I guess it's all down to individual taste and the kind of hardware you've got at home. If you're not a collector and simply enjoy your nights out dancing, then I guess there's nothing wrong with pitching. Hope that all made sense?
  17. That's NICE :o)
  18. Okay folks, I'm finally moving to London with my job for the next 18 months to 2 years and will be looking to get myself to as many venues down there midweek and probably once or twice a month at weekends. I'll also be looking for shops to go looking for records, midweek, late nights, and the odd weekend. Any tips everybody?
  19. Best result you've had against Liverpool in the last 42 years . . . . yes, 42 YEARS!!! Apart from that, howzu doin'? I'm at work (yes, still in Norway), it's your afternoon off ain't it?
  20. Hi Stevie, Hi Mel, you blue nosed git For me, by far the best 45 on the Cobra label is Duke Jenkins & his Orchestra doing 'Shake It'. What an awesome track, which I've played at two or three venues, including the Hideaway where it went down very well. There, you happy now Stevie?
  21. So, if your thumb has a very high IQ then it will do a better job than one with a low IQ. Is THAT what you mean?
  22. Yes, and I found him to be a perfect Gentleman who expects you to abide by his rules, which he explains when you first arrive. So, providing you respect him and his property, he'll respect you . . . especially when he's taking your money. On top of that, he's a scream, always cracking jokes and stuffing you with food and drink, which is great 'cos once you're in there you never wanna leave, even for sustenance and sleep.
  23. Must admit to finding these a little awkward to lift off, especially if it's hot and sweaty and your fingers can't get a grip. Much prefer the plastic cylindrical type. If centre won't fit hole, I'm with RnB Rookie, place record first then centre. Easy peasy.
  24. Yeah, I know . . . . I'm one of them
  25. Metal middles, yeah, know what you mean. Doesn't happen on all American imports but when it happens, it always seems to happen on those made from styrene rather than vinyl, don't you think?
