  1. And so, has anybody seen or got a copy of this UK Avco mis-press of 'Ooo baby Baby' with 'Come See About Me' instead? I wonder how many copies might exist? Anybody out there with a copy? Come on you UK label collectors, own up!!!
  2. The Roulette release is a slightly 'different' take or perhaps a 'better' take where the femme backing chorus is more pronounced or less subdued than the UK release.
  3. Steve G, thanks for your input. Please dig out that info if you can, it would be most helpful.
  4. Thanks ShorterSoul, that's the recording I'm on about. Wonder if it ever got a proper release anywhere as a 45, except for the mis-press on UK Avco? Pete Smith, have you got any comments / input in regard to this 45?
  5. Thanks gardens for your input.
  6. Don't know about all those different Motown releases nearly every week on different labels, you'd have to elaborate further, but yes, the Avco release was indeed 1972.
  7. Thanks for your response but take my word for it, it exists. What I don't understand is that I can't find anybody who can provide any further information. Like a US 45 release? Or a release in some other format from some other country. Is this mis-press just a UK thing? Did it not get released anywhere else? Is this UK Avco mis-press the ONLY way this record exists? Come on everybody, give me your input.
  8. Come on you guys, I thought this site and it's members represented the fountain of all knowledge. Has anybody got a copy of Donnie Elbert's "Ooo baby Baby" on UK Avco but instead of "Ooo Baby Baby" it is actually Donnie singing "Come See About Me"? Has anybody got any kind of release by Donnie singing "Come See About Me", ie 45, Lp track, CD, etc? Has anybody heard Donnie singing "Come See About Me"? Get your memory sticks out and have a good think. There's gotta be 'somebody' out there who can offer some useful info on this matter.
  9. Jeannie Dee - Come See About Me UK Beacon What year was this released? Have you got a soundbyte of it I could listen to? Thanks.
  10. Yes, that's what I've read somewhere also. At least the bit about him producing it with Jeannie Dee whilst he was living over here. Has anybody heard the Donnie Elbert version? Has anybody got a soundbyte of his or Jeannie Dee's?
  11. What's known about this record? Where and when was it released? UK release? USA release? Is it the same record as the Jeannie Dee 45? Anybody got a soundbyte of either? Any info would be much appreciated.
  12. Hi Mel, How about Fantastic Johnny C on Phil LA of Soul. Denbo.
  13. I have two different label designs for this 45. They both look identical to each other except one is plain black on a matt white background, purchased on a fairly recent trip to the States. The other is a wine coloured red on a slightly glossier white backgrond, purchased from a fairly well known site here in the UK some time ago. Can anybody shed any light on this? Denbo.
  14. Steve, I'd go with what Tony has written here. He is VERY SLOW. I've just waited 7 weeks for my 45 to drop through the letter box. IF you feel you MUST do something, it's better NOT to leave negative feedback, it's not warranted. Just initiate a dispute via PayPal which wiil serve to act as a reminder to Paul to pull his finger out and get your 45 posted. Worked for me. Good luck, not that you'll need it. Denbo.
  15. Anybody got a copy of the above titled record on UK Starlite ST45 062 for sale? Needs to be in Excellent condition at least. Have it already on Jamaican Island ( magic label design ) but not in very good shape. Looks ropey but plays very well. Point is however, I'm a UK label collector and need the UK release. Hope somebody can help? Denbo.
  16. Actually Tony, it's the "This Empty Place / Wishin' And Hopin'" that I'm after on Stateside. Can you, or any of your Dionne Warwick obsessive mates help? I'd be most grateful. Thanks for the extra info posted by the way.
  17. Yes, it is a version of the same record by Roy Hamilton, which to my mind is inferior to Dionne's version which, strangely enough is entitled 'Make The Music Play' not 'Let The Music Play'. Anybody know anything about that!!!???
  18. Hi Tony, Thanks for the input, which is rare on this site when it comes to much regarding UK labels. Your comments about Scepter switching to Pye International was helpful and obviously makes a lot of sense. Anyhow, apparantly, Manship had one quite a while back but I can't get a scan of it 'cos his people tell me they didn't do scans back in those days. Pity really. A little bit of UK label collecting history has gone astray there. See link below; https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/d/110766/WARWICK%2C+DIONNE This could have been a test pressing or even a Demo but we'll never know now will we? PS - Any chance you could put me on to your obsessive Dionne collectors via a PM because I'm after another one of hers on Stateside and they might be able to help me. The investigation continues!!! Denbo.
  19. Nice one . . . . but not very helpful. Plus, UK releases are not reissues
  20. Why is this Roy Hamilton record entitled "Let The Music Play" when the exact same record by Dionne Warwick is called "Make The Music Play"? Also, no takers on my request for info on afore mentioned Dionne Warwick single released / withdrawn / unconfirmed release on UK Stateside? Finally, one little gripe, how come as soon as you ask for info on American Imports you get almost immediate replies but when you ask for info on UK releases . . . . . . . . almost total silence? Nowt. Zip. Nada, etc.
  21. Has anybody out there got / seen / have a scan of this 45? Apparantly, Manship had one for sale years ago but I can't get him or his colleagues to confirm that they might have a scan of it. But to be fair, they're always very busy and perhaps can't afford the time to wade through all of their files to answer my questions. I can understand that. Anyhow, I'm looking to find out whether or not it was released on Stateside then almost immediately withdrawn. Or whether it might have been issued as Demos with an intended release date but was withdrawn before that date. Or whether test pressings are the only way it came out as a Stateside release. Is there anybody out there that can help? And if anybody has one for sale, please PM me. Thanks.
