  1. Soul Cafe, Bold Street, Liverpool. There you go, that's the one, saves me posting a link. If you want the exact location of Detroits in St.Helens, my adopted home town, my wife hails from St.Helens you see, then simply go to www.yell.com and type in Detroits and St.Helens, Merseyside, and it will reveal that it is on Barrow Street. Easy peasy. See, all good ideas originate and are sustainable in the NORTH of England
  2. "..........location is all important so London or Manchester somewhere like that" What about Liverpool, where there has been the Soul Cafe on Bold Street for years!!! Opened by a fairly wealthy guy with an interest in Soul music whilst attempting to start his own independent Radio Station playing Soul and R&B at the same time. I admit, it doesn't just cater for the minority ie just Soul music lovers but for everybody. Perhaps that's why it's lasted so long, apart from selling a damned good cup of coffee. Best thing is, there's a great Record shop just a few yards away too, and a great Real Ale pub around the corner, also just a few yards away. What more could you ask for? Once again, Liverpool lead the way but NEVER gets the recognition it deserves!!!
  3. Thanks Marcus.
  4. Will do.
  5. Okay, thanks for that.
  6. Want to ask him a Motown oriented question about the Equadors on Miracle.
  7. Thanks pikey. Got contact details for Jason? Suppose not, otherwise you would have offered them up already. I'll try a posting on here.
  8. come on . . . there must be somebody out there that has some info on this 45 . . . . was it booted or not?
  9. Does anybody know if this was ever booted on Miracle? Someone To Call My Own / You're My Desire - Miracle 7 - Equadors
  10. Early doors where John? Apart from the Weekenders, do you DJ regularly, or even intermittently, somewhere? Let me know please. Any luck with Donnie Elbert?
  11. What is his username so I can PM him?
  12. So, all's that remains now is somebody with the 'Come See About Me' 45 on Avco. Possibly John Manship? Pete Smith? Mick Smith? Now there's an idea, Mick Smith, does he post on this Forum? Anybody know?
  13. Magic, Thanks Kev. All's we need now is somebody with the mis-pressed 45 on Avco........Anybody?
  14. Do you know what, I think you might be correct and I think another contributor to this thread is looking into this tonight hopefully. Also, now you mention it, I think I've seen that Lp, it was one of a mini series I believe? I'm hoping John Manship will be able to shed some light on this subject for me, about the 45 on UK Avco that is. Perhaps I should PM him to attract his attention?
  15. And so, has anybody seen or got a copy of this UK Avco mis-press of 'Ooo baby Baby' with 'Come See About Me' instead? I wonder how many copies might exist? Anybody out there with a copy? Come on you UK label collectors, own up!!!
  16. The Roulette release is a slightly 'different' take or perhaps a 'better' take where the femme backing chorus is more pronounced or less subdued than the UK release.
  17. Steve G, thanks for your input. Please dig out that info if you can, it would be most helpful.
  18. Thanks ShorterSoul, that's the recording I'm on about. Wonder if it ever got a proper release anywhere as a 45, except for the mis-press on UK Avco? Pete Smith, have you got any comments / input in regard to this 45?
  19. Thanks gardens for your input.
  20. Don't know about all those different Motown releases nearly every week on different labels, you'd have to elaborate further, but yes, the Avco release was indeed 1972.
  21. Thanks for your response but take my word for it, it exists. What I don't understand is that I can't find anybody who can provide any further information. Like a US 45 release? Or a release in some other format from some other country. Is this mis-press just a UK thing? Did it not get released anywhere else? Is this UK Avco mis-press the ONLY way this record exists? Come on everybody, give me your input.
  22. Come on you guys, I thought this site and it's members represented the fountain of all knowledge. Has anybody got a copy of Donnie Elbert's "Ooo baby Baby" on UK Avco but instead of "Ooo Baby Baby" it is actually Donnie singing "Come See About Me"? Has anybody got any kind of release by Donnie singing "Come See About Me", ie 45, Lp track, CD, etc? Has anybody heard Donnie singing "Come See About Me"? Get your memory sticks out and have a good think. There's gotta be 'somebody' out there who can offer some useful info on this matter.
  23. Jeannie Dee - Come See About Me UK Beacon What year was this released? Have you got a soundbyte of it I could listen to? Thanks.
  24. Yes, that's what I've read somewhere also. At least the bit about him producing it with Jeannie Dee whilst he was living over here. Has anybody heard the Donnie Elbert version? Has anybody got a soundbyte of his or Jeannie Dee's?
