.... Have to say he's not one of my favourite artists (a lot of his material is a bit too raw. earthy, southern & bluesy for my taste but to each their own) .... What about his great version of Bobby Womack's - That's The Way I Fee About Cha From Bottom Line LP (only?) P.S. I notice this song was co-written by Joe Hicks (Don't It Make Me Feel Funky fame?)

Been going through some old tapes I did some 25/30 years ago but didn't label and found this one which has got quite a few lesser known (at the time) Motown tracks. A lot of them (if not all) off the budget LPs (MFP/Starline) sold in the likes of W.H. Smith & Woolies which I bought mid 70s ... many containing previously unreleased tracks and many not getting a 45 release. Thanks Robb ... you're absolutely right there doesn't appear to be any backing in Johnnie Mae Mathews version which credits Wonderettes but there is on Calvin Williams on Northern Del-La ... do you think these are the Wonderettes? (no credit given to anyone)

Along with I Feel Strange ... their other 'crackers' (for me at least) are these 2

James Weeks & The Fabulous Inspirations - info?
Soulstrutter replied to Soulstrutter's topic in Look At Your Box
Hi Gilly ... no not necessarily - someone (Robbie Vasquez) posted it up on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyPKwIuLbdY and got a comment from his 'biological' grandson (who presumably was estranged) and was asking for any info and Robbie PM'd me to see if I knew anything (which I don't) ... so I thought I'd ask on here ... as you never know with all 'the brains' on here. P.S. re Midas Inspirations and Billy Miller - I emailed him and got a reply but not a lot of info so I've replied but still waiting for a response. -
Trying not to post 'too obvious' ones so here's a modern deep soul / stepper from 1983 'Age AIn't Nothin' But A Number' on MCA 45: ... a message getting more relevant to us all now
-
Here's Little Milton's great version of Jesse James' - You Ought To Be Here With Me' from 1980 on Golden Ear (penned by James Blumberg - not to be confused with Annette Snell's (on Dial) which is a different song written by Paul Kelly)
-
Here's a 45 somehow 'missed' in Dave's discog from 1980 on Golden Ear 2286 Catch That Plane / Believe In Me (reissue from Checker 1149 (1966))
-
... and nice (little know?) stepper from 1978 on the small Mier label:

I'm with you on that one. I contacted Kimberlite last year to ask if they had plans to repress (and highlighted that their releases were selling for ridiculous amounts on the resale market). Understandably they are a small company and can only afford to press approx 250 of each release and have no plans to press more or repress ... as I guess they make more money from mp3s. It's not the company that's ripping off customers - they can't afford to press too many in case they don't sell. I can't see them making much profit from a 250 run 'even' at 50% profit on £12 record its only a £1,500 - I suspect they barely break even on the vinyl! It's the resellers making the profits. I know some who specifically buy 2 copies (or more if they can) of each new release specifically to make money on them. Surely this shouldn't be what it's about ... making money and preventing others buying at face value. ... this is fed by the sometimes ridiculous OVO policy (hard hat ready and waiting!) ensuring that many new and recent releases can never be played if not released on vinyl - the hypocrisy is that some buy CD/mp3 and then get carvers cut ... but somehow that's 'acceptable'? I've recently seen OFO what does that mean original File/Format only? P.S. I'm referring to brand new releases here not reissues.

.... and t'other side of Bet You I Win .... which makes Charlie Rich sound like a choirboy!

Anyone know anything about James Weeks of James Weeks & Fabulous Inspirations who appear to have cut only one 45 on Goodtime: https://www.discogs.com/James-Weeks-The-Fabulous-Inspirations-Maybe-Tomorrow-Shotgun/release/11851658

Wigan Casino Live 5th Anniversary Tapes - 4 hours!
Soulstrutter replied to Soulstrutter's topic in All About the SOUL
Not that anybody is probably interested in the slightest ... but David Christie is an alias for Jacques Pepino: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Christie_(singer) ... article also claims he used alias Napoleon Jones but according to Discogs Napoleon Jones is a group which is Verified by fact that later releases were Napoleon Jones Feat. David Christie.. -

I'm afraid not as his is a cover of Supremes hit ... unless there's another? I was only guessing title was 'baby love' - I know what it is now ... it's 'Lazy Love' and found a version of it here by Napoleon Jones (a British white pop group feat. David Christie (who had that 'nasty' Saddle Up' hit in 80s))... from 1975 ... but I'm not sure if this is the version Russ played though - can't quite here what he announced it as but suspect he covered it up anyway?: .. see if I can find anyone else daft enough to record it!!!!. -
Thanks

Had a quick skim through ... and sounds great especially @ 25mins in Ralph Weeks - Something Deep Inside. Many unknowns (to me at least) in there ... any chance of a playlist?
-
Pricey ... as it's on flip to If That's What You Wanted!
-
Flip it over 'I'm Hip To You' is superb ... reissued in UK on Dave Godin's Right On! label 1975
-
Liking the Diana Ross track ... on the flip to 'Remember Me' ... in the same vein 'And If You See Him' off Surrender LP 1971 and 'Something On My Mind' off Diana Ross 1970 (which also has her version of Velvelettes 'These Things Will Keep Me Loving You')
