  3. Hi Karen, if you are not on about the late Sixties white Garage Group version that was up for offers not too long ago on here on acetate (still wait for a CD btw.... ) then why not buy the 7ts LP by Hayes Cotton ? It features this tune as well as his "Love Plays Funny Games" again in a 7ts treat.... if you like the sixties originla, well, I will have that in my box tonight at the 100 Club :P

    Marc

Hi Marc, It's a Mastering Lab Studio Acetate I have, signed by Hayes Cotton - 70's version of Black Wings has my Angel. Love the 60's version though, Arthur was selling a mint copy recently  couldn't afford it, very happy to have the 70's version  Had "Love plays funny games" in my last collection, very good, obscure n quirky track. Hope you had a good nite at 100 club, me n Chalky went to the "Britt" had a good nite.

Always loved - There was a time - Wanted it playing at my funeral to celebrate my life  Won't be for a long time yet though

  7. ...Can't believe some of the names that are being posted up here as being 'someone you would love to see live'...

Barbara Lynn's been over to Europe no less than three times in the past decade inclding twice (I think) to the UK, Bobby Bland's been here twice, ditto Irma Thomas at least a couple of times (I saw her in Italy not three months ago, and she was touring all through Europe - although, granted, she didn't come to the UK on this visit), Barbara Lewis once (at Cleethorpes, as I said earlier) and coming to Belgium in November - and that's just for starters. Obviously some of you lot need to get out more if you're missing artists of this calibre when they visit...

    ...consider yourselves admonished :D:D:D

    TONE

    Tone,

You should consider yourself very lucky.....:wicked:

To be honest which I'd made more effort years ago.... wink.gif

  8. Which rare soul artist would you like to see over in the UK. Not that I plan bringing someone over, but in my travels in the US I always get the "I would love to come over" conversation.

When I mention their names to guys over here no one seems interested. Over the last few years, it has seemed to me that we keep getting acts at weekenders that we've had before and not enough, 'Not seen before'. Even worse many acts I've seen in recent times, struggle to sing any longer and can't remember their own lyrics. Lets try and stick to one still alive.

    Hi Dave

Would you give a us a few names of the Artist's who have mentioned that they'd love to come over...

  9. Well after change of plans, was heading to lifeline but now its going to be Middleton..

That's a shame Baz, your gonna miss out on a good nite at Sheridan's, you know you'll miss that comfy sofa, in the record bar... Have a good nite anyway..

  10. Not been on ss for a few day's - just seen this thread -

This is a fantastic record, followed it on Ebay (not that I can afford to buy it) as uroffel said in earlier post went for £626.

Marie played it in the early hours at Middleton - sounded brilliant

    Strange choice of name though....

  11. The highest bidder is either a girl, or is a camp gay. Girls can't collect records, so it's very suspect

Typical  Great sense of humour you got there Jame's

That one's worth at least 10 double Pernoid/black's  Sheridan's

  12. Karen,4 pairs of shoes. Don't tell my wife, she'd be organising a charity all-dayer for you. I've got more than 4!!

To be serious for a moment original post did kinda set female collectors apart from male collectors, a division which is pretty meaningless as the crux is the collecting not the gender.

Also depends on how you define "collector". Im sure there are lots of ladies out there who have 45s/CDs/LPs at home or joint finance their partners collections and have their say in what gets bought.

My wife used to buy in the late 70's but sold them before I met her. Many's the time she'll say "I had that" and I won't speak to her for a week cos I want it now.

    ROD

    Hi Rod

Been an interesting thread, guess from my orig post you could look at it like that, though not my intention - to me have not given it a thought in many years, surprised by recent comment I mentioned and got me wondering if a few other men thought the same and how many of us female collector's there actually. Recent discussions bring up female buyers being a minority based on percentage quoted when chatting with a dealer recently........

Please tell your wife the charity dayer's ok - but instead of shoe's can I buy records :lol:

    Karen

  13. OK, I'll admit to collecting records

Mostly cross-over as that's what I like best. I'm not addicted like some, so there are some weeks when no records drop through the letterbox at all - but other times a little parcel arrives every day!

Theres not many records on my "I'll pay whatever I need to" wants list, but if I see a tune thats a good price, and we both like it, and there's money in the record account - then I have it!

I say I, but technically as I haven't worked in over 4 years and had no income - its Michaels money I spend. I regard it as payment for raising his 2 children.

Kirstly even though your spending Michael's money :P are the record's you buy for your own collection or a joint one with Michael......
