  1. 1979 - Wigan Casino - I was a mere 14 yr old Heard so much bout it - been listening to Northern for a while thank's to a couple of Clubs for 14 - 18 yr old in York - and by then the music was already my life and had started to collect as well as dance my arse off Had to get 2 train's - so nervous didn't know what to expect - All I can say is - WOW - My dad would say it was the worse mistake he made, letting me go ruined my life he thought - took over my life finances etc Still does Well all I can say heaven and high water's wouldn't have kept me away and never will. Karen
  2. Ever thought an artist/group's voice was fantastic but only ever did one or two recordings and no further information seems to be available - infact no trace of them and their life since.... The Barons of Soul are a fascination to me - such a voice - what did they do after "You need Love". What was the name of the main singer, who quite simply has a voice to die for Did he go onto record under another name on his own What did he do with the rest of his life, is he still alive ......... Neal Kimble is the same, appears no one has been able to find him, disappeared completely after recording... Would love to research and find such artist's ..... Who would you like to find? Karen
  3. Northern Soul = Group heading Hayes cotton - Gwen Owens - Out of Sights - Barons of Soul - Adams apples. (Mixed bag). Cross Over - Will Collins Modern - Dj Genisis. Course then there's Obscure - The Crow R & B - Sunny and the sunliners The list never ends and thank god it dosen't. That's the most fasinating thing bout this wonderful thing termed "Northern Soul". Karen
  4. Fabulous record - shame Artist identity not 100 % certain - with a voice like that it's a tragedy (no not the Bee Gee's - who are they ) Karen
  5. Ray Charles owned the Tangerine label, whilst still recording for ABC records the first release being 1962 no: 923 the last no:1031. In 1973 Ray left ABC and Tangerine behind and moved onto the Crossover label. Neal Kimble - Tangerine no:1021. A superb record whether your a collector - dancer or a listener.... IMO Karen
  6. No I don't think its bad form - they can only say yes or no. I look at it this way - it's a compliment that you've taken notice of their previous sets / records. I often ask for certain records and usually the DJ's kindly play them if time/other requests allow Karen
  7. The Popsike and J Manships are same then Daves is completely different - so is it poss Popsike n J Manships 1st release then short time after decided/had forgotten to put Arranged by on so came about Dave's copie - Pete's looks like a boot. Karen
  8. Comparing both, Daves copy has, arranged by under time, the Jimmie Raye is different, the lettering is fuller/rounding to thin. Petes lettering is more square and clinical - the C in KKC on Daves is thicker and finally the S-002A is straight and equal in size - but Petes has a smaller S and the 002 is slightly above the A. (no dirty jokes plse ) Daves copy looks original to me, but what do I know Dave and Pete could you look and see if either of your copies have a mini matrix stamp with something that looks like "pes". Karen

  14. Sorry for not reading further as too many posts to read. I would definately want to hear it on Vinyl only, a lot of my fav tunes are not that expensive - but a lot are - maybe a few copies etc, but I go to venues that have the DJ with the said record in their line up - the pleasure is greater when your not hearing it out every week. One of my fav records to dance too is - The Trannels - Blessed with this love - Bob Hinsley plays it - Mick H & Tim played it recent, but now it's gonna be available to anyone - so it'll get played to death like a lot of stuff. Don't get me wrong lot's of records to buy that are within most of our budgets, but most of us have records we search long and hard for and will pay a lot of money to own, all part of fun of record collecting. No fun or pleasure gracing the decks with reissues or cd's as anyone can do this without putting time, effort or money into it. My personal opinion only - but one I have always felt very strongly about. Karen
  15. Contours - Jealousy Out of sights - for the rest of my life Primers - How does it grab you Intro's have me running ... though try not to get into serious conversation - no matter what's being discussed, it won't stop me leaving in mid sentance to get on the floor Apologies to anyone I have done this to, but when a girls gotta dance - she's gotta dance Karen
  16. I bought a copy a while ago - fantastic dancer with great vocal's - Chalky played this in his set at last couple of Lifeline's. First saw for sale on Ebay a few months back, seller stated it was £1500. in J.M guide Did email several times to ask which guide as not in 3 - asked about and dosen't seem to be in 1 or 2 either - still awaiting reply Notice in last month a couple going for between £300 - £370 mark. I'll see if I've mp3 if not, pm me and I'll play it down phone for you. Karen
  17. Definately from a person missing a few brain cells and out to cause trouble. In the letter he writes," firstly I want to introduce myself ", then dosen't He has loved the scene for many years but it has always been a big problem and then goes onto say, "the first thing he knew about it was 2 months ago In 28 yrs on the scene I have never known anyone offer speed, cooke and Heroine (great spelling), along with needles for injecting Heroin. As he would seriously risk his position in the police force if found not to have officially reported what he knew and witnessed as an off duty police officer, I'm certain he would not have drawn unwanted attention by writing this letter - or should I say tried to write - leaves a lot to be desired regarding the spelling - certainly not acceptable by police standards. Careful could always be a set up, to find out peoples reactions and if they mention their behaviour at venues if you get my drift Karen
  18. Prefer male vocals - though love a good deep female vocal too, screechy / girly girl vocals are a no no for me Karen
  19. No probs - J.M Guide £300 also depends what they mean by ex - I've found ex has sometimes turned out to be m- anyways good look - hope you get a cheaper copy. Karen
  20. Copy for sale on Gemm, graded as Ex - seller Soul Jones - $601.26 / £321.34. Good luck Karen
  21. I know talc has always been used by dancers myself included in the past, but recently at an event I was dancing away unaided by talc, to my amazement a guy came onto dance floor poored talc in a circle in centre of floor and before I say anything he vanished into the bar area (he wasn't even dancing) made dancing difficult for a lot of people, talc poured without thought onto dance floors has increased recently, a friend of mine fell on slippy floor recently and has pot on foot and crutches for a few weeks. What ever happened to consideration to others, I used put a small amount on edge of dance floor...... Thread related, if not directly responding to post. Karen
  22. Hi Kim So glad there all ok - met Diane and partner at Jaspers/Melodies after Di and Jinxy had seperated, not sure if it's the same person she's with now, Di seemed very happy at the time - good to hear that Jinxy's happy and settled. Karen
