You are right, this not the Funk Bros. They are west coast musicians, this why when it was first played and coverd up no one new who it was. If was the Funk Bros, people would have recognised that it was a Motown recording.
Thanks for the reply,i don't have the CD but the strings were a big giveaway.Does it say who the female backing singers are? Could it possibly be Darlene Love and The Blossoms?
I know this is a 64 unreleased recording for minit but can anyone tell me if this was a New Orleans recording or not as it doe's not seem to have the usual trade marks of New Orleans.
I am not suprised,Paul Williams on lead and defo the same musicians on both tracks.I wonder if Joe Hunter is playing on them as he was with motown until mid 63.
Wonderful piece of history, proving The Temptations were the best with or without David Ruffin. It so sad that Paul Williams was pushed to the background once David Ruffin joined them.
When listening to The Temptations I know i'm loosing you and The Parliaments I wanna Testify, i have to ask myself how on earth did The Parliaments get way with it without Motown intervening?
That was very cheap,it would be interesting if anyone is in touch with George Kerr as to whether it did manage to reach the record stores or was it withdrawn.
After listening to Tats play some absolute top drawer sounds on Dean Andersons show on thursday eve, this song has me wondering if it was not only withdrawn but also that the label owners were forced to destroy all the copies that were pressed.I have never seen a copy in the flesh or ever seen one for sale. Chris.
