  1. Just bought me a copy off GEMM for $30
  2. Can you clarify someting for me. I attended various nighters (Oddfellows in Leicester. Stafford TOTW etc) during the '80's when this record first came to the fore when a few DJ's had a few unreleased acetates of The Prophets and this was certainly the version that was played the most at the time. I didn't know there was another version until I heard (I think it was Keith Minshull) play The Originals at The Rotherham Clifton Hall. I then later thought that my pressing of the Prophets was just a speeded up vesion (a la Epitome of Sound) of The Originals, but listening to both versions I can hear that this is not the case, as both vocal styles are different. Can you get me up to speed on this 'cos it's been bothering me for nearly 20 bloody years!
  3. Thanks for all the help guys...appreciate it. had a go using photoshop and made a a pretty simple flyer but think it passes. Not as pretty as most but it gets the info across hopefully! and here it is! thanks again guys and if you want to make a better one for me...be my guest! I'll let you in for free on the 8th April at the Lord Hill Shrewsbury if you do me a good 'un! Not much of an incentive I know...but hope to see you there anyway...it's a top venue! Thanks again guys!
  4. I use a skystar 2 card ( https://www.technisat.com/?site=produkte/pr...pid=1281&reload ) and mytheatre 2.76 free software ( https://www.dvbcore.com/MyTheatre.html ) to record Mr Bicknell on Sunday...recording straight to my Hard Drive on PC...works a treat! and you can save TV of course too!
  5. Been looking at some of the flyers on here and they look really profesional. Just wondered what you guys use as I need to make one for my do in Shrewsbury on Friday April 8th ( https://www.soulechoes.co.uk for more details) I can use Adobe Photoshop a bit so will probably try that (but not brilliant for text really) and there always word I suppose but a bit limited again. All advice gladly accepted! Thanks in advance!
  6. Uncanny! Hope yours is clearer than mine!...I probably got some feedback from your tapedeck in the bag next to mine! Remember arranging the plug in mic so it was in the little slide in slot in the front of my patch covered Adidas bag...happy times!..was probably wearing my T shirt with a fist saying Wigan Lives On! and I never even went....was far too young of course! But I was young and foolish then....now I'm...well older and foolish..but ditched the bag and T shirt!
  7. Aaahhhh...Happy momories....
  8. Remember this being played at TOTW Stafford...big sound for Keb Darge (or maybe Guy) as I rememeber (memories fading now I hit the big 4-0!)...always used to fill the floor....as much as you could fill the floor at Stafford..only ever 200 of us there!...have to check my old tapes see if it was Guy or Keb!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ......Boody 'ell I am losing my marbles...It was Pat Brady who used to play it at TOTW not Keb or Guy!...sorry Pat...credit where credit is due!...great track. It was covered as Pat Lewis - Change your mind. All coming flooding back now..and here's the evidence from a badly recorded tape I did in '85...need realplayer. https://ic0htsk00.ic24.net/bay/Pat.ra
  9. Did a live tape of Lorraine Chandler and Eddie Parker at Stafford on 22/06/85...know the date because it was my 21st Birthday! Recorded the tape to PC and made some real audio which you can stream off my website https://www.soulechoes.co.uk/ on the "Live" page. Or click here to hear for starters and hear Chris King introducing Lorraine Chandler https://ic0htsk00.ic24.net/bay/lorrain1.ra Don't sue me for copyright Chris please! Got some tapes somewhere Of Keb, Guy, Pat and Mr Thorley doing their stuff at TOTW around the same time...see what I can do with these...if I can find them!
  10. Remember Adam making Doug Parkinson big in the 80's at The Oddfellows allnighters in Leicester along with DayBreak I Need Love, Alfie Davison et all. Yeh bit overplayed but a good one if you emptied the floor with your last track...always a safe bet! Didn't Terri Well get in the charts as I remember?
  11. Sorry bout that mate! But close..was thinking of Craig West!
  12. Yep Craig...same delta number as you...Oh well, you win some....you lose most! PS...Craig W formerly of Shrewsbury?
  13. Looks like I may be in luck then?
  14. Hi all, Just after a bit of advice. I bought a copy of The Coasters - Crazy Baby in the States for a few cents about 15 years ago. But I suspect it may be a pressing...not sure. I have scanned the labels and you can view them here https://ic0htsk00.ic24.net/bay/Coasters.htm So did I get a bargain or just a cheap pressing for 75 cents? Thanks in advance for the advice guys! Mark.
  15. Anyone else have a steak and kidney pudding from the van outside the TOTW?...mmm...they were yummy..set me up for a night of dancin'!! God I loved Stafford..but getin nostalgic now!...looking back there was only ever 200 per night of us there! Probably cos it was every 2 weeks. But we felt damn special and privelaged! We knew then it was always gonna be remembered as the biggest post Wigan allnighter!...just purely on the class of music and the innovation of the DJ's (Keb,Guy,Pat,Dave et all) at the time...and were we proved right or what! But it was so obvious to the TOTW goers...that's why you always saw the same 200 there! Got a page dedicated to TOTW on my website and live recordings of Lorraine Chandler and Eddie Parker at Stafford that night on 22nd June 1985. Remember it well because that night was my 21st birthday night...what a Prezzy! All the best guys and girls... Mark https://www.soulechoes.co.uk/ PS Sign me guestbook!..and love some pics of that night (Eddie and Lorraine)if you have em!..I'll put on the website along with the music..and I'll give you credit for 'em too! email is talk@soulechoes.co.uk
