  1. Yep very clever son you have there! Funky guitars never bothered me before but always going to notice now! First heard this on the Dave Evison show on Signal Radio...got it on tape somewhere...forgotten who the guest was who came on every week to play a modern soul selection...can someone remind me? Managed to get one for £90 off evilbay about 5 years ago fortunately..always have to turn the master volume up if I ever play it whilst DJ'ing....always plays a bit quiet! Great emotive track!
  2. Fantastic! Think it kinda epitomises why we hang on to this musical era so dearly....it happened at a magic time, never to happen again.....that era was pure soul magic..that's why I will always love this thing we call (Northern) Soul until my dying days. It's not about nostalgia...it's about class that will never be repeated.
  3. It's February the 18th 1983 and this tender young 18 year old from Shrewsbury has arrived with my mate Carl Heaps at the first Annivesary Allnighter of the Central England Soul Club at the Nottingham Oddfellows Club Humberstone Gate Leicester. Chris King's on the decks and Rev Tony Claytion getting everything prepped for the dance competition. "Can someone find Adam and bring him up on the stage please and even if he's downstairs" Chris King is playing a live version of Edwin Starr's Time recorded at Hinckley a few weeks before and plugging The Live Rictic Revue Album recorded at Hinckley which was never to come out.The Reverand thanks Chris King for his donation of raffle prizes and annuonces the raffle will be drawn straight after the dance competion.Oh it takes me back...just found an old C90 cassette I recorded that night, thought I'd better record for soul source for prosperity...happy times! I feel 18 again! Part one Part two Were you there too?

  5. Spotted this on the old tube and thought I'd like that poster! Who on the scene would you want an ORIGINAL 60's poster of? Wonder how much that poster would go for on ebay? As well as Ms McNair I'd like one of Terry Bryant...she was (is still?) a stunner!
  6. For me, it's the closest thing I've ever had to religion in my life in all my 28 years on the Northern scene...and I'm an atheist!! Hang on...in correction to my post...IT IS A RELIGION!! I personally reckon the Bible was written in Detroit...with a few disciples from Chicago, New York and on occasion others! But seriously the intensity of the passion for the scene is up there!...just I prefer Soul heaven to the Christian one!
  7. Bloody hell had forgotten this! Got this up on the tube and now dancing around the bedroom!...the stella's have helped too
  8. If anyone else has a M- for a similar price send me a pm.
  9. Hi Mark Was discussed by myself and others a while back here https://www.soul-sour..._1entry677452 The bad news from the from that topic was am email I got from Ian Clark quoting ""hi thanks for the mention on this on soul source..it is rare and was booted by soussan..where is he now i still have my orig copy, best wishes ian clark" Whatever....still love the record! Rarest boot ever? Trying to upload an mp3 to refosoul without success so far! Will keep trying Jonzy (another Mark!)
  10. Welcome to the scene mate...alot of sounds gonna blow you away! Remember when I first got into the scene....so many new sounds to my ears...you are gonna love it mate!
  11. ha ha...beat me to that, happened loadsa times to me in 80's and early 90's..think some people just like to show off what they've got!
  12. Having just got back from the 25 Year TOTW Reunion....seeing this thread again just got me thinking..... There's definitely a market for it...I'd be the first to buy a ticket! I can dream.......................
  13. Here's Vol 3...I need to get a life lol...see you all sunday! Hope you enjoy Jonzy in Shrewsbury
  14. Here's volume 2...used a different laptop so hopefully better!
  15. Computer a bid dodgy when I did this but result is relatively OK. Hope the chip van is there just to add a bit authenticity to the event!! Steak and Kidney pud....yum! See you all sunday! Can't wait! Mark P.S. I'm avaibable to DJ if Keb drops out Dave
  16. One on evilbay at moment https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150426728050&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT item number 150426728050Item number:150426728050
  17. Shouldn''t it be "go compare.com" in this case?
  18. remember when that was the whole point of the scene...happy days...sadly one downside to the internet. Other argument being that we all get to hear sounds we probably would never have heard. But to travel miles to hear one particular DJ was the norm of course...I do miss that aspect of the scene.
  19. Fook it I'm looking forward to it...ok it's not the scene I attended for last 30 years ("oh yeh did I mention the chicks"...can't say i ever remember going to an allnighter for a shag ever!) but then again me dancing and searching through record boxes for 8 hours wouldn't make a film would it? Has to be about characters people can relate to etc.....personally I WILL be going down the local odean to watch it and/or buy it on DVD! If it gets a new generation into the scene then thank god it was made!
  20. ooops sorry all we seem to have a double thread going...didn't mean to poach honest! Think it was verve...then again memory is not what it was...I'll dig it out and have a look.
  21. Ooops I think you are right Mick...must have been those stellas I had last night! Still at least wicked enjoyed hearing the tune again so glad I posted it up! And as you said the ice man is pure unadulterated class!
  22. Will have to search through my old copies. Still got my pressing......sorry I mean original issue on joker!
  23. you have a pm!
  24. It's one of those divisive records....I was a regular at TOTW Stafford where it was first played and what a massive floor filler it was! It's got that hypnotic repetitive tune going all the way through it...still has me hooked. OK lyrics aren't that great but what a dancer! You either love or loath it...persoanlly i love it! Quack quack peanut duck! By the way it isn't really Marsh Gee is it? That was the cover and pressing title artist of a never released tune wasn't it? It's really an unknown artist I believe...put me right you people of greater knowledge if I'm wrong!
