  1. Thank god that's over...time to meditate and calm down I think. Whatever is your genre these days ...go into a dark room and play your favourite sounds. I'm sitting with a beer in a darkened room playing a few 60's Stafford and modern tunes....oooooohhh...peace at last
  2. Oooh...bit better...Detroit Soul!
  3. Ok might forgive them tonight Guess it's not soul source members who voted! can't believe not even one Stafford sound.... Deep breaths....deep breaths....calm....
  4. Spot on...totally missed oppurtunity!....it's time to move on FFS! God this is painful...can't believe Richard agreed to this
  5. Jeez...I'm getting more annoyed now....just wrote off the Satfford era in a single sentence...80's didn't exist apparently, Northern Soul wasn't born again until CD's came out in the 90's apparently....gggrrrrr...don't believe Richard believes this at all....for the sake of this soul show methinks! Never did understand where this theory that the scene died when Wigan closed in 81...I got into the scene in 82 at 18 and I remember if was busy as f*ck! Hinckley comes to mind 2000+ soul fans!
  6. Always nice to hear Mr Searling on the radio...be it playing overplayed oldies tonight Northern's a broad church I know but love on a mountain top ffs...have I dropped into a timewarp and gone back to a 70's youth club? At least Richard said he hates it! lol
  7. Got to be this one surely!
  8. I DJ generally in Shrewsbury which hasn't got a massive soul following...I generally know all the Northern Stalwarts in the town...but I normally do 30 mins early where I will play nothing super rare but play records that would fill the floor in Stoke, Manchester, Wolves or even Crewe for that matter....Guitar Ray.....Four Tracks....various Stafford TOTW tunes etc...but still get moaned at. Second later spot I'll play safe Shrewsbury Floor fillers...Ruby Andrews...Just Loving You....Carla Thomas...Never stop Loving You ...Charles Johnson...Greg Perry....Way of Life etc Saying that I'm always aware the punters have paid their £5 to get in and want to dance to tunes they know . Dj'ing isn''t much fun I find....might just stay a collector it's easier...nobody moans when you just collect!
  9. Bloody hell...memories getty fuzzy it appears...could have sworn I remember Keb playing it at Stafford as Bobby Paris...first signs of dementure? Mind you it was 25 years ago so hopefully I can be forgiven!
  10. Pobably Keb's copy! He broke it and covered it as Bobby Paris at Stafford TOTW.
  11. bargain!
  12. Fair price to me Keith! Would have thought about right these days..then again you know that better than me! And woo hoo my Main Change arrived!...only waited 25+ years to get one! Might stop mithering you now!
  13. Summed up nicely Arnie...never really thought about it, always put it down to the awesome tunes, progressive musical policy and fantastic "happening scene" atmosphere...but you are spot on...it was far more than that...Dave you made a magical place...one that has touched many of the people who went there...it shaped who I am as a person...not just my musical taste.
  14. lol Ditto again! Have a look my Youtube videos to prove the point!
  15. Ditto PhilT...still mainly Stafford tunes I buy!
  16. Remember Eddie and Lorraine at Stafford because it was my 21st birthday night!...it's on my webpage! (below)...and you are correct totally awesome night...especially Eddie in his Zulu outfit if memory serves me correctly? Girlfriend at the time was most p*ssed off I buggered off and left her on my birthday! Here's some of the C90 I did recorded on the night! lorraine chandler - live - lorrraine chandler - i can't hold on - lorraine chandler - what can i do - eddie parker - i'm gone - eddie parker - love you baby -stafford live - I've also cleaned up the echoes page you posted and turned round as was getting a crick in my neck!
  17. Anyway Keith when am I getting a spot at Whitchurch? lol (promise not to play Main Change!)
  18. lol...I know mate...I'm pretty predictable!....think that same night on my C90 tape in about 83 (as I remember..or Stafford nighter not far apart) I bought the canadian album with Deon Jackson's version of Barbara Lewis's Still Remember the feeling...and I wouldn't part with it.......same night I bought it Keith M wanted it off me...and I mean really wanted it!!....must have got a copy though as became quite a big sound for Keith at Stafford. God I miss Stafford can you tell? lol
  19. After a copy of Martells - Where can my baby be - a la carte and Freddie Houston - If I had Known - Oldtown (not the Begian popcorn reissue!) Typical soul source bargain prices please!
  20. lol...think you know I know mate, as you know I was there and I always request it off you! (lot of knows in that sentence!) Nice early Stafford...before the new 6T's Keb/Guy era as I remember....got it on live Stafford early 80's C90 tape somewhere....must post it up....remind me who used to play it at Stafford...memory is fading!!!...was it Mr Searling or Keith M?
  21. Got one now mate...in the post!
  22. What's the price on this these days (£400?) Would be tempted to swap it ( and a bit more cash) if someone has a Martells Or am I in dreamland? lol
  23. Oooh...now that I would like...I have Tingha and Tucker's version (auntie Jean on backing vocals) of Do you Believe it (aussie issue) Boomerang Boomerang! Hey Cliff?...oooops...gone off on a tangent slightly!
  24. Nice Dustyesque version (mind you think Dusty would have done it better) but you just can't compare to Wade Flemons surely? 60's pop verses 60's soul...no which I prefer by a zillion miles!
