An evening of classic Motown,Soul,Mod & Ska. Upstairs at Townend Social Club Plenty of free parking behind the petrol station opposite the venue. Bar friendly prices,and a good dance floor!

4hrs of Soul, Northern & Motown all served up from beautiful vinyl. This event has no bar facilities, so you are free to bring your own refreshments. Plenty of free parking on site.

Happy birthday Motown. Thankyou for supplying so many memories to all of us on this site and wider world. If this label had never existed, God knows what dross we'd all be listening to today. I know there's hundreds of independent labels that sprung up with brilliant artists and tunes that are the backbone of our scene, but as i see it, imitation is the greatest form of flattery that this iconic label has, and will ever receive. Tune in to any music station today, and I'm sure they'll all be paying their own tributes.

Today, we had to say goodbye to the No.1 lady of soul. I'm sure that many of us have shed a few tears at the news of her passing, as her words and music have meant and said so much to us over the decades. But I know, once the sadness and loss of our beloved Aretha eases, her legacy of tunes will bring joy to our hearts for the rest of our lives. It's time for you to show the celestial choir what they've been missing. Thank you for the sweet Soul music and the trail you blazed. R.E.S.P.E.C.T XXX
