  1. The bit in the long version of the Dells' classic "Stay In My Corner" where the late great Marvin Junior stretches out the word "baby" for an eternity.
  2. Any greatest singers list that doesn't have Otis Redding or James Carr in the top 10 is a load of b*llocks and shouldn't be taken seriously.

Some R&B IS verging on rock n roll I agree but I love it all and would rather hear it than some overplayed pop shite like Nine Times Out Of Ten etc. Just listen/dance to what you like and don't stress it.
  4. Also this great instrumental must surely have seen some R&B action?
  5. Another one that should be played in R&B rooms/clubs - and only £10 too.
  6. Another Treasure Isle classic with prominent violin is Alton Ellis' "All My Tears Come Rolling".
  7. Show Me The Way Heatwave Nowhere To Run Love Guess Who A Love Like Yours (Don't Come Knocking Every Day)

Why was Pharrell dressed like a reggae singer from the late 70s?
  9. Cavaliers - "Ooh It Hurts Me".

It's on a CD called Made In Jamaica and a 45 both on Peckings.
  11. Duke Reid never went to New York. He died in 1975 and Treasure Isle was bought out by Sonia Pottinger.
  12. And there's those of us who WANT to attend such venues but don't drive and don't know anyone locally who goes to them.......(and don't get me started on train fares, hotel costs etc!!!)
  13. The problem isn't the people pressing the tunes, it's muppets playing them out at events.
  14. People totally miss the point - pressings are NOT aimed at collectors, they're so us common scum can "own" the tune.
  15. Pressings have a place. Personally I can't afford rare originals. I don't play soul music out (though I am a ska and reggae DJ) and I listen to it in the comfort of my own home. I love vinyl, so it's an affordable compromise. THAT'S who repressings are aimed at, not collectors. Get off your high horse.
  16. This is a fantastic oldie of Len's:
  17. I've got 26 CD's of Bluebeat 45s that were swapped between collectors around five or six years ago now. The released CDs in the shops don't have the best stuff on as the copyright laws changed to 70 years from 50 years at the start of this year, so I'm afraid we won't see 1963-67 unless they can work out a deal for the rights....
  18. It wouldn't be Lee Perry or Bunny Lee making the noises as it was a Derrick Harriott production! Hold Down is overrated IMO, Sufferer is the much better tune.
  19. It would be an even better record if it didn't sound off centre......
  20. For years I thought that "Ain't No Need" was a Bobby Bland record! Very similar style.
  21. Forgot to add feedback when I got mine so will do it now. Great adapters and a total steal at the price, all 45s fit like a glove now. Cheers Gordy
  22. I heard Pete S has a cracked copy of the Carstairs. Cracked into about 20 pieces
  23. Holds 24 records. I'd need about 350 of them.
  24. What's the name of the hip hop group?
