  1. cheers - not seen that, what a legendary vinyl nerd johnny m is. I did know about the lighter fluid for tough stickers but not the super glue, I agree your suggestion with JMs glue technique could be worth a go. Think ill keep my stock copy until the diy is over! best PT

It would be nice for the stylus to get to the start on its own without having to lift over... any advice welcome thanks. any views on paying 20% of what it would be worth in Ex con without the chip also may be interesting if printable! cheers Paul temple

    Discatron Revisited!

Hi guys. What a memory jerker. I have just dug my original discotron out of the drawer same as yours on the left. It's still looks great and amazingly has two ever ready pp9 batteries in it and they haven't leaked. This machine played bubblegum breakthrough outside the torch, catacombs and especially va vas. Many trips over the pennines from Selby. Unfortunately it works no more. I have lots of other portables including earlier ones such as the amazing looker called The Fabulous Wondergram advertised as the worlds smallest record player. None sounded very good though until the sound Burger came along. This was and imho is still the best portable. Mine still sounds great and with the new good value plug in mini speakers you can use it to listen to vinyl with mates rather than just through ear phones. So very interested in your initiative but as others have said you need to get the sound correct and with playing records vertically there is always the worry of damage. I would be def interested in buying one. Good luck. Paul Temple.

  11. https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/237372-take-me-in-your-arms-and-love-me-blank.html https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=motown acetates Thanks Chalky and JohnSS and Wiggyflat - all good stuff and some great examples. Ive only joined SS this year - amazing collective knowledge. I did know about the nice Carlin acetates and several of the ones on Manships web were previously mine and he is surprisingly selling at what I think are great prices for rareities - £40 for example for the Temps and G Knight which was the price I traded them with him last year. I paid £50 for the Just Walk in My Shoes as condition is so good. Didnt know people were cutting stuff on the blank sides - I suppose vinyl is hard to come by these days. I spent hours last night trawling through the alternative/foreign label theme which goes on for 18 pages. I collect this stuff myself esp pic covers and thought I had a great collection until I saw some uploaded here. JohnSS of course you are the reason I got into this with the yellow argentinian motown of detroit spinners. Ha love it. Paul Temple

  14. Hi John good to hear from you. Thanks - yes single sided and I think you must be right. Other TM acetates I have seen have come from the music publishers. Glad to see you're still vinyl addict. Best to all the Rotherham crowd. Paul
  15. Hi kegsy I'm just selling a few and it's tough. Frankie and Johnny went this week so that's way down the list. Eula cooper and celeste hardie would def be up there as would Lenny Curtis nothing can help you now the sensations demanding man. Best Paul T
  16. See pic below - just found this in a record shop in Cheltenaham with some other TMG GnW Demos. Anyone have any info why its on Pye Records. Assume its a first acetate of TMG 576 which was released in 1966 - US original Soul 35023. Also is it worth anything - plays really well. I thought at first it may be a mistake and be by Billie Davies as her version came out on UK Piccadilly but its def the lovely rich tones of Gladys. Appreciate any comments, Paul Temple
  17. Hi Patto dont think you'll be interested but I do have an original but has a double crack with sellotape on b so it plays through amazingly but with an audible click! I bought like this c.30 years ago as a temporary to get a better one and never did. Don't want a lot for it and would prefer trade. No problems if not....... Cheers. Paul
