I hope this is is not true, I have known Martin for quiet a few years and know how passionately he felt about the northern scene and I know he would always try to play something different in every set he played. If this is true has anyone got details of the funeral as I would be privileged to be able to attend
This is to Mary Chapman, Chris Dalton Dave Appleyard and all the original DJs, i know this will be an incredible day and very emotional. I was there on that first night in 1975 with my good friends Paul Priestley John Davis and myself Andy May and we were freezing on the pier and pleaded to Mary to let us in early and after what seemed like ages we were let in early. Chris Dalton and Dave Appleyard were DJing first and played Your Ready Now by Frankie Valli. I went up and had words thinking they could have played a better northern sound but on reflection it was the most appropriate record they could have played. I wish I had known how to get a ticket for the 50th do as I was an original member but I’m not on Facebook. Hope all you guys have a fantastic time lots of love to Mary and thanks Mary and Chris Dalton for coming to some of my northern do’s at South Kyme love to all. This will be the most amazing day in northern soul history. Have the most fantastic time all of you who have managed to get tickets for this event.
kind regards
And May
