  1. Thought books were printed or is this a 'new fangled' thing
  2. That's on the LP as well
  3. Is this getting played? Just found the LP in a pile of stuff I never play - am I missing something here - it does nothing for me. Not so sure about the rest of the LP either. Julian
  4. Yep, it was the 444 label ( designed by John Bollen from Earby). Had a few copies ( of the label, not the record) given to me by either John or Dave Godin - I can't remember who) - can I find them? can I bloody hell!!
  5. HOW MUCH IS AN ISSUE IN A PICTURE SLEEVE WORTH?
  6. Julian .... play it you willl pack the floor in the months time.. if not I'll show me ...... to the town hall clock. I shall be at Worcester If anyone has got a spare .
  7. I see Mr Phillips out and about occassionally ( usually when we are both under the influence of drink!) so generally a load of old b------s is spoken when we meet. Julian
  8. Ebay item 250235712639 ( sorry, don't know how to cut and paste!) Is this correct? seems the B side has a different coloured label ( and I can't remember what mine looked like in 1972!) I don't thnk this has been booted, or am I wrong on this? Julian
  9. So. am I now to assume that my mint copy is a bootleg Julian
  10. Always a box full of bargains at Julians Soul Emporium Tried to get a few more copies a couple of weeks ago - looks like they're sold out now - not got a copy myself, then again, it wouldn't be on my playlist
  11. Yes, it's a new release and I've been selling them for a tenner!!! Should have ebayed them!!! Julian
  12. Remember hearing this played at Sheridans in Dewsbury and the DJ stated ' it's an old Twisted Wheel sound' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I won't mention the aforementioned DJ's name to save his blushes Julian
  13. Still see him occassionally around the Bradford area (he's usually pissed with Kegsy). Andy's on holiday in Aussieland at the moment
  14. I believe Andy Simpson ( The Pittance)from Bradford was pretty good in his heyday.
  15. Rob Bellars was christened as one of the original Four Vandals when Levine was filming for his SWONS video at the Victoria & Albert Hotel in Manchester, the others being Kegsy, Andy Simpson and ANO ( who I can't remember). Obviously this was a serious pisstake as they were rechristened the Vandella and the Four Vandals! Question - who was Vandella? Julian
  16. pm'd you. Julian
  17. Ike & Tina - Dust my broom is about 1.45
  18. Yes Brad from Nelson - I remember one Saturday in the industrial unit when Brad turned up. We divided the spoils that day - he went to the Mecca and me to the Torch to sell our wares!!
  19. The Bostock family were into rock and roll and went to the States and bought a warehouse full of that sort of stuff and loads of soul stuff came over mixed in with the 'job lot'
  20. Bloody loads and I was the only guy to get into their small warehouse ( housed in a falling down terraced house on Cutler Heights Lane Bradford ) which held all the individual copies of stuff @ 25p each( the majority of this stuff went to Martin Barnfather at the time) not the large industrial unit where they stored all the boxes of 50. Used to buy 50 boxes of Superiors, Tymes, April Stevens etc etc and flog 'em at the Torch ( only took one or two copies in at a time and went to 'refill' the sales box from the car at regular intervals). Once had to grab Kegsy by the throat for bringing a load of stuff in at the same time, thereby undermining the price( he reminded me of that story a few years ago!) Happy days Julian
  21. Hi Dave when I first met him, he didn't really know much about soul music and he was DJing at an 'upmarket' pop club in Leeds. I met him at Jumbo records in Leeds which was a soul/reggae shop when he was starting to get interested. At this time he was seemingly honest. The problems started after he returned from the States and put out his first sales list with a load of rarities and unkown stuff. I think he then started to keep monies for records which he had already sold ( and possibly never had), although I did go through the records he brought back the day after he returned to the UK and there was some fantastic stuff (packed into an old leather suitcase if my memory serves me right). He did of course also do 'swaps' with his side of the bargain never materialising!! He never tried to 'con' me - perhaps because I saw him almost every weekday in Leeds, but it was very embarrassing to me when he started to 'rip off' my mates ( and that SS members did include Ian Levine) amongst many others. Hope you and Bev are well, saw Fergy and Janet on Friday - I believe they are coming over to see you soon and to take in a 'weekender' or allnighter at the same time. Julian
