  1. Had a couple of busy days but it’s given me time to reflect on my thoughts from the first LDSM party of 2025 on Saturday When I first got involved with promoting events this was what I always wanted, Djs playing records they love and from the heart Likeminded folk coming along to support them and getting lost in the music. Everyone was completely invested and embraced the whole event and for myself and Mandie it was a total joy. Musically you had everything soulful We cannot do it without your wonderful support and we want to thank each and everyone of you. I was busy enjoying myself so I only took one picture So we now look forward to our next event on Saturday 30th August..guest Dj line up to follow soon

  6. With only two weeks to go until our first LDSM party of 2025 on Saturday 29th March the excitement is building !! So with this in mind is time to meet the guest Dj’s. Alan Barber Dj blog I am an 80’s soul boy at heart, started DJ ing at the tender age of 16, played music across the board throughout the years of collecting vinyl. Got hooked on the modern soul scene after visiting the Cannonball weekender in Italy in 2017, listening to some fantastic Dj’s playing some sublime music. That’s when the serious collecting began! I now promote my own events to the west of London on a regular basis as well as having the pleasure of being involved with the Ibiza Modified weekender on a yearly basis. I’m looking forward to playing two completely different sets of music at LDSM, the first set will be purely modern soul gems followed by a second set of more uptempo dancers. Currently at the front of the box are: Poppeye - Never Gonna Give You Up. A previously unreleased track from 1978 out now on Super Disco Edits. Joe McKeever-Dance with me-An up tempo 80’s dancer. Veda - What It's All About. A 1980 modern soul gem that makes me smile. Chuck Strong - Doin’ It Cause It Feels Good. A 1982 cover of the Gwen McCrae classic Alvarez - I Can’t Make It. A 2023 release from Izipho Soul records that just gets better every time I hear it.

Here’s a few words from the man himself and his his current top five plays PETE SUMNER DJ Blog Although I’ve been collecting soul music for 40+ years and travelling to soul events across the UK and Europe for many years, I didn’t really start to DJ at events until the last 10 years. My collection contains records from the 60’s onwards and of many different genres and my DJ sets can be equally across the board. I jointly promote Ashby Connoisseur’s Soul Club in the East Midlands, where I’ve lived for most of my life, but really enjoy travelling to events far afield and listening to sets from many different DJ’s. I’m not sure which direction my sets will go at LDSM but will have the following tunes in my playbox on the day: Dolly Gilmore – Sweet, sweet, baby The Grey Imprint – Do you get the message. Billy Byrd – Silly kind of love. French Coffey – Nothing from nothing. Buddy Smith – When you lose the one you love.

  23. With only 3 weeks to go until the next LDSM event at The Goods In its time to get the lowdown on the guest DJs. Sare is making the long trip to join us and packing some amazing records. A woman with impeccable taste in music and has always got a smile on her face. We can’t wait and I’m sure you can’t either to listen to her selections. Sare Atkinson-Dj Blog I love the expression that soul music has the ability to make you feel nothing or everything. It certainly does this for me, with lyrics ripping at my heart for a moment or just getting lost in the pleasure of sound where nothing even matters. Anyway.. you get my drift. It’s an honour to be asked to dj and it’s always an absolute joy to share my personal selections with likeminded people. My favourite plays either change like our weather or get stuck on repeat. This week they’re going something like this: 1 Bobby Story - Let's do Something Different 2 Reid Inc. - What Am I Gonna Do 3 William Barlak - Aint No Doubt About It 4 The Ovations Til I Find Some Way 5 Skip Mahoney & The Casuals - Town Called No-Where 6 The New York Community Choir - Help 7 Milton Davies - Summertime in the Sunshine 8 Hiroshima - Never ever 9 The Fantastics - Somewhere ...Finally 10 Boz Scaggs - Lowdown
