  4. Hi again, everyone! Thanks so much for the support so far – I couldn't do this without you! However, I’m still missing some labels. I know it’s a bit of extra work, so I’m happy to offer a small payment for each scan. Every contribution helps! If you have any of the labels I need, or know someone who does, please reach out! Kind regards,
  5. Hi everyone, Just a quick update – I’m still looking for label scans for my upcoming book! If you have a chance to check the list and can help with any scans, I’d really appreciate it! 6. I've got: Jo Ann Garrett Private Charles Bowens Freddie Scott Stylistics on Avco Still need many more!
  7. I am seeking label scans for my forthcoming book, so I need help from you good, rare soul people! Please have a look at the list to see if you can help me! What is the book about? In short. The book looks at how soul music gave power and voice to the African American fight for civil rights and identity. It uses politically charged 45s from the 1960s and 70s to show how the lyrics spoke to the diverse struggles of black Americans during important times. Ideal scans would have the following specifications: · US labels only · Clean labels without writing · Minimum size of 1000x1000 pixels or higher resolution · 300 dpi · TIF format, if possible, otherwise uncompressed JPG · 1-inch black vinyl border surrounding the label · Horizontal alignment (label centered) If you don’t have a scanner, you can photograph the label with your phone camera. Please place the phone on a steady, flat surface and use the highest resolution setting (see picture) If you are able to contribute any appropriate label scans, please send me a pm. Your help with this project is greatly appreciated. Best, Tommy Scans needed updated February 19, 2025.pdf
  8. Solved on Facebook ("Rares soul Talk" if you are interested)
  9. Can anyone help me with some info of The Other Brothers from Dallas, texas. What's the story behind recording for three different labels? Did they do anything after 1970?Does the liner notes in the "Los Angeles Soul: Kent-Modern's Black Music Legacy" say anything about them? All help appreciated!
  10. Ok. So he became a pastor. Then this must be him, found it on Facebook. Posted by Timothy Boston: "The legend himself Dr. Ralph E Beechum! Happy heavenly birthday pops! Hey played the bass just in case and I played the keys if you please!"
  11. Aha, so Phillip Bailey was one of the members of Friends In Love together with the others who became SaSa Di. Wikipedia says he was invited in 1972 to join EWF, so it sounds plausible!
  12. Thanks Allan! Not a three man group in 1976
  13. I'm not an expert on EWF, but according to "BlackPast - African American History", they were formed in Chicago in1968 as Salty Peppers, and changed the band’s name to Earth, Wind & Fire in 1970, three years before this article.
  14. Thanks! I did find a lot about Crested Butte Records, but not this. And yes, that was interesting info!
  15. Does anyone know anything about this band? Band memebers? pictures?
  16. I see. Thanks a lot for your help!
  17. Thanks! That's what I though too cos of the lyrics. His worries of the generation: “Lord, help this generation/ Help them love one another, Lord, and understand/ You know this generation, is getting out of hand”, could of course refer to the riots in Watts, but if it's late 1967 it could be Detroit, or if it's late 1968, it could be riots after the killing of Martin Luther King. I'm gonna use this in a book. Is there a way to be 100% sure?
  18. I saw that, 45cat.com also says 1966, so maybe it is?
  19. Does anyone have the correct release year for this?
  20. Did anyone ordering this book receive it? I paid for a copy over a month ago and no book yet. Not replying on my mail either.
  21. Thanks, but I'm from Norway, so it's a bit far I'm reaaly interested in the topic (writing a book), so please see if it's possible to record in any way.

  23. Can someone help me with a readable picture of the info-side (the cover) of Final Decisions “I Feel No Pain” on Hayley records?
  24. Can't find any info on this obscure band. Seems like just this 45 (plus UK release). Does anyone know anything about them? All info appreciated!
