  1. i believe ned jordan and phil jordan would be one and the same, i worked with phil for a couple of years as a commercial d.j. here in newquay,i have such fond memories of him, we had some great times together. never a dull moment with phil, he'd get me into a few scrapes, always a cool dresser, avid collector, great taste in music, could get you anything you wanted, almost a cool arthur daily, and pure babe magnet. i last saw him in 1986 at a friends wedding here in newquay, i was devastated to learn a few years later he'd died. i've shed a few tears over the bugger over the years, i've still got a compilation tape he made for me, on which he had kindly written, this will cost you many pints you miserable english bastard. ned/phil jordan, my kind of guy.
  2. re mckey moonshine, just checked my decca 45 credits are (moonshine) writer music director pip williams produced by mickey moonshine miracle songs decca records 1974
  3. i'm not moaning about how often you've checked it bud, merely commenting on your imputous, 5/6 posts in four days there, 500 + on here in fives days, you do the maths. i'm not knocking you ian, just saying the other mans grass etc. you seem a bit new toyish, and that can sometimes need pointing out. seeing as we're both on here at the minute, heres a question. the salvadors and billy woods came out of that box of 4000 what happened to them, as they are two of my holy grail never gonna' afford wants. and if you knew then what you know now, having parted with most of your big records over the years, what record do you most regret parting with, and would love to replace.
  4. i know you was ian, i just usd it as an oppurtunity to give you an aid memoir about your other forum bud.
  5. yes you should remember that ian, don't neglect it bud, you seem to have got a tad side tracked this last few days imho. ans. is a good forum and a faithful bunch. plus you get the chance to boot off who you don't like lol.
  6. the opening night at the rocket, i've got quite a few on a disc, and some taken in spoofers beforehand, martin alsop aka mr click took them, he sent me the disc back then, some 6/7 years now, some good group ones, yourself, john nightingale, myself, big gav, jeremy hanson etc. some good ones of all the d.j.s too
  7. as you know chris it's the 1st night a the rocket, i must assure those on here that never went, it did fill up a bit more later lol. it was a behind closed doors thing.
  8. what exactly does someones size, or parents financial status have to do with there standing on the northern soul scene. maybe he's demonic and a crazed gay too. criticize the man if you dislke his musical input and contribution, we all are entitled to our views on the musical policy of this scene, but personal slurrs are ugly and unecessary. imho. quote name='paul-s' date='Aug 24 08, 12:27 PM' post='849223'] Wow, what a prissy little boy Mr L still is. Cant tell if hes drunk or just plain illiterate?! A bit like the child that spat the Dummy. Only just read all this crap. So, obviously, I guess, The giant 'Bun' has a financial interest in the film so aptly named after his soul career! Pity I cant say hes a 'shadow' of his former self, as he seems to still be eclipsing people with his size rather than his intellect...The guy has ALWAYS represented everything false, desperate and manipulating about this scene and as we can read, he still follows that path. "OOOH you little bitch"..... I hear him say (backed by a syndrum and a vocoder, obviously! . ) Mr L has only ever consumed the scene, like food to a binge eater, never really tasting or appreciating it! Now hes being offered another slice of pie by a film company...yum, yum. Spoilt little rich kids are few and far between on this scene, apart from this egotistical Beluga, thank god. Too soulful to have ever bothered with you Ian, but you are such a rude fool, I felt bound to comment. No doubt, you will pace around (as best you can...), getting a bitchy reply together, so at least i have contributed to your exercise programme! PAUL-S
  9. well ian, i doff my cap, over on ans i said i thought you had put too many vid clips up on this thread. you've made my sunday morning, i've just spent hours checking some of them out, lovely to watch and listen to chuck jackson - all over the world, perfect sunday morning stuff, loved ebony alleyne -second look, very smoothe indeed cant believe your stance on soulful house, a natural progression to some of the stuff you pioneered, brillant to watch double exposure- 10%, one of my favourite salsoul tunes c.p. spencer - this man needs you, jesus h. christ, this song is amazing, never heard it before, wow. i'm glad now i delved, too easy to judge without knowledge, i guess the answers simple, read the post if you want to, watch the vids or don't , glad i did.
  10. 100% with you on that one, no hang on james wells and barbara pennington equal, though james wells slightly nudgeing. i used to love the james wells twelve, i think that and lalo schifrin jaws were the 1st two 12's i ever owned. i no longer have either, but i do have an unreleased 12 of barbara pennington. i don't consider any of these tunes as tailor made, just soul releases of the time, and damned good ones at that. baby i'm still the same man.
  11. loads of good stuff getting played in recent years, frank popp stuff, which is over rated to say the least, some good stuff out of scandanavia though, tuomo - don't take it to hard, nicole willis and the soul investigators etc. spring to mind. monster from the 70s, instrumental cover of the temps law of the land, alfie khan orchestra, i think were german.
  12. the armada orchestra cochise, and the awful but aptly titled b side, sunset on the armada puleeeeeeze ;-)

    Talc ?

i hate the stuff, i recently put sound systems into the venues in newwquay for the weekender, the equipment is left on site from the thurs to collection after the weekender on the monday. the kit that's in the main room/Northern room, is always lagged in talc, it's a sod when it gets into mixers, amps, and all over your technics grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  14. hi christian, postman woke me from my drunken slumber this morning. well worth the bleary stagger downstairs got metros, crikey mate your fast, i'm well impressed

  16. oooh ya' monkey, spread loves al hudson mucker, again one of my fave 70s chooooooooons, got the album and 7" eeh the north pole back in the 80s eh, the finest thing to hit islington seriously i've got such fond memories of those days, sadly some of the faces no longer about. i had some real reality checks and come down nights there especially some saturday nights after doing leighton buzzard the night before. and your engaement do, setting the old double decks up in your lounge harking back to those halcion days ken, i was only talking last night (post stoke next day drivel chat) and mick summers name croped up, whatever happened to him / is he still about do you know?
  17. don't leave me this way, was big along side the thelma houston version back around 1976, the love i lost and satisfaction guaranteed are philly soul epitomised. bad luck is a cracking bit of soul, any any teddy p. stuff is quality, life is a song worth singing vocal and instrumental getting spins back in the day. obviously all quality philly soul but having fantastic production and arrangement and being 70s releases, they don't exist and are not permitted to be mentioned, they were never played at any venue accor ding to the annals of our scene and the saxon chronicle, and indeed are a figment of my imagination
  18. gotta disagree totally with you kenny, cathedrals was a time and place tune i guess, 76 ish it fitted in with the current stuff being played at the time. oh for the days when contemporary releases were played and accepted along side the monsters and classics. and it has been sampled and used, quite notably by joey negro no less, you either no who he is or you don't lol.
  19. oi, mr tricky tree, hurry up and get better, forest need all the support they can get, they might even be playing leicester and derby again next season up snd at 'em mucker. lee vowles.
  20. frankie beverly - if that's what you wanted king erison - zola freddy chavez, ron holden, art freeman, bobby freeman,al delory, prince george, herbert hunter, sam and kitty, kenny smith, etc. etc. i think that's what drew us to oldies/stompers in our youth, instantly recognisable compelling dancers. back in the 70s how about.... brass construction - ha cha cha function! 1,2, ha cha cha 2,2, ha cha cha etc. choon earth wind and fire - biyo, where's me espadrills i wanna boogie
