BBC 1 Inside Out - Wigan Casino Segment 10 Feb 2020

Good to see my brother flicking the v’s at the cameras outside at 1 min 07. He’s dined out on that for 43 years! No doubt the majority shared his sentiments that night... -

RIP Mark - sad news indeed. Nice memories in that photo Woolie Mark - must be upstairs Brum Locarno All Dayer 1980/81?
-
Finding it so hard to believe this sad news. Many scene and football memories of a top lad. I first met him in 1979 when we jumped on a train (at Loughborough) from Leicester to Derby for an Assembly Rooms All Nighter - dived in a carriage and Lee was holding court in his inimitable style.. I’ll miss his unmistakeable greeting....”Oi Salty balls”... So pleased he saw the title win for his beloved Foxes. RIP Lee.

JUST A NOTE TO THE PEOPLE WHO KNOW DEAN JOHNSON
Robin S replied to dean jj's topic in All About the SOUL
All the very best Dean. -
Birmingham Locarno - upstairs Modern room - 1981 is my first memory of it. As Rich says c/u as "The Quadrophonics" and played by Arthur/Mario. So no doubt a Snaith "Highwayman's Halt" record too...

Yeah great thanks Sean - trust you are too.. I listened to this whilst assembling some Ikea garden furniture - it helped keep me calm when the frustrations started to get too much!! -

The two missing from a Simon's list above... SPENCER WIGGINS - TAKE TIME TO LOVE YOUR WOMAN ZINGARA - I SURRENDER Sean - what an archive! Doing justice to a wonderful time of the scene... -
I might well have done Rich! I have had it a very long time - possibly reviewed in Blackbeat as well? Something makes me think it may have got a play or two at Cleethorpes but I'm not 100% on that. I don't know of any other version. Hope things are good with you Richard.

Mixcloud / Spotify for me - lots of hidden gems on Spotify and masses of material on Mixcloud - I always find something new and interesting to listen to by looking at who others are following. One click leads to another... I enjoy regular shows from Coops ("Sharing the Soul") Ady Pountain, Richard's "Rare and Well Done" , Rhythmic Freedom ("Them") for starters...Chalky's ever expanding archive is definitely worth a follow too...So much music and so little time...Peter if you do go down the Bluetooth route I would recommend a JBL mini speaker - unbelievable quality and so portable too..

All the very best with this Kitch! I'm sure it will be a success. Have been enjoying the recent Mixcloud samplers...Onwards and upwards (bit like the Foxes!!) -
Mike Post = Baja Marimba "Along Comes Mary" Bill Harris = Nicky Newarkers "Woman"
-
Mr Hall I presume! Hope you are demob happy! Best to you both. Plenty of tapes from Poole in my boxes!
-
Hope you move them onto a good home - I have boxes of old tapes - many that have given me much pleasure over the years and turned me on to many new records.. I was rooting around the loft a few months ago and pulled out a good few to play when pottering about.. I've played about two! I just tend to go to Mixcloud as my first choice for finding something random and decent to listen to. Damn shame, but I think they'll just continue to gather dust...must say though they have never really deteriorated over the years like I thought they would...
-
Just had a root around in my loft Chalky, sadly no flyers or tape listings for Rebels but I have the following dates in my diaries from '81 and '82... 21/11/81 - First All Nighter, then, 5/12/81,19/12/81, 23/1/82 (with Sam, Richard, Arthur, Poke, Steve Mannion ) and finally...20/2/82 So no confirmation on Gary but like Steve G I'm sure he was on at the first ones at least - cheers Steve P for the "Steinways" prompt! I've also got a "Rebels" 8-2 event with Sam, Richard and Arthur written down. Memory has gone on that one..(Glyn/Arthur... do you remember that?) Other dates of note around this time are Clifton Hall First Anniversary 13/11/81, a good few dates for Sheffield Tiffs All Niters and a brilliant all Modern All Nighter at "Happy Nites" Sheffield on 9/8/81 - (Sam and Arthur) this was a one off and was really busy which was a surprise after a lot of the upstairs Modern Room do's at Tiffs only having 20/30 people in...I remember Sam getting well carried away with Chuck Simmons "Am I Grooving You" at that one... Chalky - I've loads of mags/fanzines from the '80's ( and flyers )you can borrow if they will help - and my tape listings of live All Nighter recordings from the '80's. Let me know if you're passing through the North East (you still driving?) and I'm sure we can sort a rendezvous...

Hi Steve, Yes I remember that well, think I ran out of petrol coming back into Loughborough! Ouch!
