  1. Have seen one dj with his own cartridges set up one whilst last record of previous set is playing, eg weight etc then once he has started playing his 1st record do the same thing for his 2nd spin and at end of his set he does the reverse and as his last but one spin finishes he swaps them back and again after last record finishes leaving very very little time for the next dj
  2. The only thing I can think of is to play bootlegs and re-pressings and totally ignore the ovo policy. Maybe download anything and everything and when someone requests it plug the relevant memory stick in lol. No worn out records and not worried about light fingers helping themselves to your records. And you can play the original joe90 on casino classics without worries of the weight of the stylus
  3. Is a dishwasher not a good idea , has lots of slots for records where the plates normally go. 12inch in bottom and 7 inch in top racking. And you have a filter to catch the labels . I'm just being a bit bored but wondering if anyone has ever tried it though
  4. Around the early to mid nineties I remember going there to a couple of soul nights and one was supposed to be a niter but for some reason it didn't get a license. I seem to recall it went on until about 2 or 3 am . Anyone else remember these and who organised them? TIA Mick
  5. I'm being open minded.. it could go one of two ways. Either brilliant if the musicians put their SOUL into it or it could be a total flop. Which I hope it isn't as I've always liked instrumentals... and hope to hear some favourite ones
  6. Always thought that the label looks different almost out of the wrong decade. But if stamped is an original
  7. Thanks for that, if I ever decide to get another at least I know what to look for Thanks again Mick
  8. Learning something new every day. Didn't know about raised stamp. As my copy is long gone I've not got one to look at. Is the stamp near the inner or outer edge of label ? Is it one side only and how prominent is it??
  9. Do you mean spinach, broccoli or salad leaves???
  10. I'm not retired yet, but maybe combine this with a garden centre as I seem to frequent those more often. Ps only cause I enjoy growing my own veg etc. Nothing to do with getting older
  11. I know it's not Northern but this always gets to me cause of how much I miss my dad. Luther Vandross dance with my father. And I know that when I move on my sons will feel the same way
  12. Although I think no one could bear to lose their physical belongings whether it is records, photos of family/parents no longer with us etc. The one thing that I dread above all is losing one of my twin sons who are in their 30's. They are not only my children but they are my bestest friends and we have such an amazing relationship/bond that if anything ever happened to them I couldn't imagine the pain I would go through if I lost them. It even brings a tear to my eyes typing this. I love them more than anything, records come way down the list after them x x
  13. Hi Steve When you mentioned record shops in Leicester do you remember the one near the polytechnic as it was then , there was a row of shops in a sunken area with an underpass going to Newark Street and it came out also near the start of the underpass. I vaguely remember a newsagents and the record shop but nothing else. Must be 78 79 as I was still at school.
  14. I've always said "I'm only here, for the gear" How I got my nickname.
  15. I have 2 kidneys. My blood type is AB negative. Very rare.... if I sold a kidney would it be enough to buy it
  16. This has been interesting reading, but how would you know an original as there seems to be lots of reissues etc?
  17. OK you win . So far! But waiting for someone to get a 50 box out
  18. Glad I'm not the only one who has bought multiple copies of a record whilst at a niter and forgot that I already have it. I have 3 copies of 4 records lol. And agree with you About new girl by the Accents ,love the whistle at the start
  19. My son Kevin and I will be attending both the service and the soul night. And I will be taking my "new era" membership card as I know that would make Tim smile
  20. Lovely photo, I also Remember Tim from Coventry dayers. But also Remember him for his humour.. it certainly wasn't woke. Rest well my friend and I will never forget " sniper on the balcony " A private joke that will always be with me our friend Mark and of course you Tim Good night my friend x
  21. Like every site that sells records some are very often over priced. But like every one they occasionally miss something. I've had 2 bargains this year from this site..So I suggest that we all should scroll through the sales lists and see what they miss
  22. Totally agree that sarcasm can be very funny, but there's a time and place for it, and you have to be very careful so not to offend
  23. The same not heard from Paul for ages ,hope he's OK.
  24. That has to be one of the best Dad jokes I've heard for ages, thanks for that one
  25. I don't care if I get kicked off the site but I am totally sick of one person who cannot resist being sarcastic about people's posts. ie if someone accidentally posted something twice by accident. Maybe they posted the same thing twice in record sales. Does it need a sarcastic remark?
