  8. The obvious one to me is the skullsnaps as neither im your pimp or my hang up is you were released as singles the my hang up was only ever booted although it looks genuine.. another one is the mighty marvellos as it has a lot of good tracks including your little sister.
  9. Ok had to wait till finished early today and had a rummage in the attic .. have attached picture of mac staten. Had to wipe the dust of first though.. hope this suffices. Kind regards Mick
  10. All that matters to me is that that pic wasn't off discog lol. What do you need a picture of me my 2 sons all holding copies of today's papers while i hold my record whilst being independently adjuticaded by Mr Manship and a plethora of solicitors? ..just wondering?
  11. Ha. I thought this thread was going to be about soul records found. Might have guessed otherwise.. i also found this mint unplayed
  12. I found this for 50p
  13. Hi i have seen 2 label designs for this(both on bay sound) one with the ship and one without . The one without has i need your love on the flip.. i have seen John Manship has one without the ship listed as a different label design.. i always thought this was a 70s reissue can anyone clarify this. Many thanks Mick.....
  14. You say about people selling their collections.. Due to changes in my own life i now have a mortgage again and at my age it is sorely tempting to sell up so i assume a lot of people with depts etc are also selling.

  16. Love this comment. When you have been into this all your life you are bound to diversify although still soulful. But this will make a few people smile whenever i have my records out and play anything but a stomper my son always disappears back into his room lol
  17. I remember a record shop in mablethorpe as spent summers there at my mum and dads caravan. It was just off the main street on victoria road . I just remember all the recordsbeing at the back.. cant remember the name. Also there was one in cleethorpes on the road to grimsby. It might have been called Corrigans or something similar. God knows how i remember that. Mick
  18. Sorry Geeselad.. I didn't try to come across that i was the only one who got into northern this way its just that my son thought it was interesting . Mick.
  19. Hi all as you know my son kevin is into the scene and he asked how i got into northern. When i told him he said i should share the story..... in 1976 i started at my local comprehensive school . For you who dont know we all had to do lessons we didnt like, for us boys this was dance and drama!!! This all changed in the 2nd year when we had a new dance teacher start. She started playing all these singles with coloured labels and big holes in the middle. And started showing us all this energetic and 100 mph dancing with spins backdrops and floorwork. Unknown to us at the time she went to wigan (she explained about all nighters and dayers as we got into it, although i would be 15 before i got to to wigan) and could see all us kids bored of the drivel played in the charts . As we got to know some of the tunes and moves one of the most boring lessons became the most looked forward to.. at the same time the older lads on the estate started to have all dayers on a sunday at our local boys club.. and that was it i was hooked on northern .. the dance teacher was only there for about 18 months. I cant remember her name but would love to meet her to say thanks for getting me into something i have loved for the last 40 years..
  20. How much is a proper one worth with the squiggles that look like 3 w's back to back?
  21. Hi just found a scan altthough it is on cal soul it also has the words kay dee. So keb must have had something to do with it as this is is his label like the bamboos tighten up.
  22. Hi does anyone know the story behind the single sided 12" release of mixed feelings sha la la la on cal soul. Many thanks Mick
  23. Just thinking about the 2 different versions .. Is goodbye cruel world the first issue or goodbye cruel love. I know that they only changed the one word.
  24. I played the 12" version on mercury at the nuneaton 70's/80's all niter as always it got lots on the floor.
  25. Hi. I have seen soul sams 12" copy and it is the mercury version. I have the brookside 12" which is a slightly extended version of the 7" mercury release. The mercury 12 " has the long intro and instrumental break in the middle. Awesome tune.
