Harrogate Northen Soul Club - good crowd, fantastic sprung floor to get the moves going; up front dancers guaranteed. Reasonable bar tarriff, ambient and comfortable surround seating. Always a great night! Tonight's special guests are Natalie Harrison who always brings a great set of tunes and a touch of sparkle to the decks. Natalie is joined by Karen Cooper of York - making a welcome return to Bilton - Karen always ensures that the dancefloor is kept busy. Keith Hudson is unable to make this one due to a long standing family commitment, although he will be definitely be back for the anniversary night in December. So Mark Dawson of York (Soul in The Tavern) has kindly stepped in as a late sub and will get the proceedings off to a lively start. Other normal residents Steve Murphy and Ian Smith will be there to provide the usual up front sets and a few surprises!

Harrogate Northern Soul Club's first event of 2023. A great dance floor with up front funky and soulful dancers all night long. Bilton is an atmsopheric soul club with a floor second to none. This month resident DJ's Keith Hudson, Stephen Murphy and Ian Smith are joined by Mally Meah and Trevor Thomas. Mally is famed for his modern soul spots but still boasts a formidable northern collection and so will be mixing things up on the night. Trevor, originates from Southampton but has been a regular at various soul events since moving to West Yorkshire 30 years ago. Trevor has some underplayed dancing gems in his record collection. Bilton always guarantees a fantastic night - a great atmosphere and brilliant dancefloor. The next Harrogate Northern Soul Club after this one is Friday 14 April 2023.

The Harrogate Soul Lounge is a genuine across the board soul night with all tunes plaved on original vinyl releases. Its chilled tunes before 9 ish and dancers thereafter. The Cheltenham Club was Harrogate's first soul and R&B club 1967 - 1969. Dance the night away to 60's club soul tunes, 60's soul hits, and proper 60's R&B. All the tunes played will be from the original vinyl releases and would have been played at the original Cheltenham Club. The DJ's are Michael Lowcock, original Cheltenham Club member and warm up DJ, plus Harrogate Northern Soul Club's Ian Smith. Ripley Town Hall is a great venue with a sprung wooden floor. Entry is £5 (plus + 49p booking fee) by booking in advance on The Ripley Live Site www.ripleylive.com Any unsold tickets will be available on the night at £7 each on the door. All proceeds, minus the reduced and subsidised cost of the hall hire, will go to Parkinsons UK.

Floorfilling northern, seventies, 60's R&B, and crossover tunes played on the original vinyl releases (no boots or reissues) by Andy Carling (Soul Station Wetherby), Keith Hudson (Harrogate Northern Soul Club), Diane Layton (Leeds Moortown and Wardrobe), and Ian Smith (Harrogate Northern Soul Club). This event's special guest DJ is Fred Benson. Fred is a fantastic DJ with a great collection of floor filling tunes. More underplayed before 10 and some great dancers afterwards. All tunes played on original vinyl (first contemporary national issue), maybe with an occasional second issue (eg 45 from an album) but definitely no boots. Friendly atmosphere, and conivial lounge setting with dance floor.

Just received my copy of Lou Pride 2004 recording of 'Comun' Home' - a completely fresh take on a classic and in an informative picture sleeve, it's a real collectors' item! Going to spin it tonight at The Harrogate Soul Lounge - possibly its first public airing on an original vinyl release. Great work Andy Bellwood - thanks! -

After a couple of months away The Harrogate Soul Lounge returns for 2022. Last Friday of the month - starting 25 February. All types of soul music (not just northern top 500), all played on the original vinyl releases*, with no boots or pressings issued years after. The format is less well known and less dancier numbers pre 10pm and more well known dancers after 10. DJ's are Michael Lowcock, John Postill, and Ian Smith with occasional guests and/ or stand ins. Comfortable Lounge setting with dancefloor and reasonable bar - the Soul Lounge is on Robert Street, off Station Parade in Harrogate Town Centre - opposite Waitrose. It is 5 minutes from Bus and Train stations and on the 36 bus ropute with late buses to Leeds and street parking. * - We define Original Vinyl as first local US release or first national US release within c 12 months, and first British (or other national) release within 12 months. If it isn't this and we play it we will tell you!

Resident DJ's Keith Hudson, Steve Murphy and Ian Smith. In a second change to the guest line up Stuart Arber of Crigg Soul Club has had to drop out. However,. Stuart will be on at Bilton next year. Wakefield's Mike Eastwood is a welcome substitution and we welcome him back to Bilton together with debutant Will Walker of Whitby Soul Club. Look out for our 12th anniversary night on Friday 9 December 2022 when Roman and Lodgie will be the special guests.
