  1. LveTown's first anniversary special! Over 6 hours of Modern Soul, Jazz Funk, and Disco from the last 50 years. Soul on the Dark Side! LveTown has proved a very popular alternative soul music event since its launch in December 2023. Popular floor fillers and some cutting new tunes guaranteed to make you shake your hips. All tunes played on (mostly) original vinyl releases - no CD's or MP3's. by regular Harrogate spinners Alec, Charlie, Christopher and Ian. For the first anniversary they will be joined by popular Leeds DJ's Mally Meah and Mark Warner. The Lilypad is welcoming and ambient hostelry on Kings Road about a mile from Harrogate bus and train stations. There is a wide seection of beers and cocktails and most importantly a good wooden dancefloor upon which to practice the art of boogie! What better way to dance off the Christmas excesses and get in traing for NYE? Entry is free (for groovers!) and the event runs from 4 until 10.30.

Following the success of their first Classic Soul & Boogie Night Starbeck Cons Club is pleased to announce a second event on Saturday 7 December at 19:30 to 23:30. 4 hours of Tamla, Northern, Soul Classics, Disco and Funk all played on original vinyl releases by spinners Chaz & Smiffy. Its gonna be a great night of revelry dancing to those popular club classics of the 60's to the 90's. Entry is free and you don't have to be a club member. However, get there early as the last event was very popular. Starbeck Cons Clubs is just off the main Harrogate to Knaresborough road, with frequent and late buses to both towns, and is 5minutes walk from Starbeck station. A friendly club with a convivial atmosphere, reasonably priced drinks, great sound system and wooden dancefloor.
  3. The Harrogate Soul Lounge is pleased to announce its 2 room NYE party in an atmospheric venue - downstairs Northern and Motown / upstairs Disco, Modern and Jazz Funk. Dancers and party tunes all night long played on original vinyl releases by resident DJ's Ian, Mike, John and Chaz. This promises to be a great night just like last year's debut event. This is likely to sell out with a capacity of around 130. You can buy etickets on the Club's website www.strobertsclub.co.uk or directly from the bar at the club. Tickets cost £7.50 and if there are any left £15 after 30 November.

  9. The fourth LoveTown Event takes place on Sunday 3 November at Lilypad, King Road, Harrogate, HG1 5HY - 3 'til 9. LoveTown is NOT a traditional old school soul event. We specialise in post 1975 tunes in Modern Soul, Jazz Funk, and (non cheesy) Disco genres. We play off vinyl - 90% on the original releases. We aim to play for the dancefloor and get everyone up for a boogie. We have taken our name and musical inspiration from The Booker Newberry 3rd 80's classic. The Lilypad is a cool bar situated on Kings Road about 1 mile from Harrogate Bus and Train stations. (Catch the No 2 Bus from the bus station and get off at Kings Road Post Office - buses leave at 10,30 nd 50 minutes past the hour) . There is an excellent wooden dancfloor, room to move and lots of surrounding seats and tables. Extensive drinks list and food is served until 4 with some snacks available thereafter. Great ambience and friendly crowd, spacious dance area and wooden floor, grood sound system and atmospheric venue with plenty of seating. Love is the Message!   13. Boogie Night for Parkinsons UK. After last year's sold out summer event Boogie Nights return at Pannal Village Hall, Pannal Bank, Pannal, Harrogate, HG3 1JG. Boogie nights features floor filling soul hits, disco and jazz funk 80's favourites. Dancing from start to finish. Great dance floor and bar to relax on a summer evening. All proceeds to Parkinsons UK.   14. This is the second Lovetown Event at The Lilypad, Harrogate, following the initial and popular event over Christmas 2023.   15. The Harrogate Cheltenham Club was the Town's original Mod and Soul Club and ran from 1967 until 1969. This is an annual charity event to commemorate the original venue and to play the all the tunes once played at the club. Club soul, Motown, Stax, 60's R&B plus a few Mod tunes - all played on the original vinyl (US and UK) releases by one of the original Cheltenham spinners Michael Lowcock and Harrogate Northern Soul Club's Ian Smith. All music will be pre 1970 and will have to have been available to buy in the UK at that time. The emphasis is on floor filling, dancing tunes The original venue was in Harrogate town centre on Cheltenham Crescent. This event started back in 2018 and takes place at the home of Ripley Blues/ Live - a club where late 60's soul and Mod heroes Steve Cropper and Georgie Fame both have performed. The dancefloor is hard wood and mainatined to a high standard. Regular buses run to both Harrogate and Ripon until late if you don't want to drive. All proceeds, after deducting the concessionary hll hire fee, will go to Parkinsons UK. It's a great night and the event usually sells out so that advance booking is advised. Places can be purchased and reserved from the Ripley live web site - £8 in advance, including booking fee, and £10 OTD if any places are left.
