  7. As much as I also cherish the nostalgia…and respect the views here…Has everything become so sacred that a simple NS Pastiche is getting most of us hot-under-the collar? Being chased around ‘Stolen from Ivor’ in the M/CR Arndale on a Saturday afternoon before kick-off was what did that for me.
  8. Yes the list (as it appeared in the Motor Town Review) is less than half the SUE UK discography.
  9. there is one on JM presently
  10. I was rummaging through my stuff for a future Connections thingy I was preparing…and got side tracked with my copy of ‘From Hitsville U.S.A. -The Tamla Motown Show’. In particular, the SUE Records list (as scanned). And thought, what is the rough value of all these today? (as sold). I applied these simple arbitrary ‘rules’… Where it was listed on Discogs, I took the Discogs Median value for each Where the Discogs Median wasn’t listed, I took the lowest Discogs price for sale (if there was one). There was 6 (Six) of these Where there was neither 1. or 2. I took the most recently known price (e.g https://www.popsike.com, www.rarenorthernsoul.com, https://collectorsfrenzy.com, etc). There was 7 (Seven) of these. Where there was neither 1. 2. or 3.- I took it as 0 (Zero). There was only one of these. £1634. Hope you find it interesting?

  14. great watch...thanks for sharing Rob
  15. It's a bit of fun...please take it as such. Can you add any to the list?
  16. I guess you may already know this, but Daryl ( and John Oates) have history with most of the musicians coming out of Philly, and the respective studio's of Sigma, Virtue, etc. They both played on Electric Indian 'Keem-O-Sabe' 1968, Marmaduke ( as well as others sides) with what most folks regard as " The Philiadelphia Funk Brothers"
  17. This might have done the rounds as a topic, so forgive me if so. What record would you have wanted your favourite Northern male/female/group (dead or alive) to have covered- that is Non-N.S. Maybe (...only maybe) exclude some obvious one's e.g. Beatles/Lennon & McCartney, etc. P.S. thought it a bit more light hearted than recent topics
  18. Well Steve, I can only speak for myself. I've never 'bought into anyone's way of life' for anything. Not then- and not now. I jettisoned the scene for many reasons, some of which are highlighted in this topic. And although I might not have witnessed first hand how things have evolved over the past two decades, that doesn't mean i lost touch or lost that feel. There are always people keen to cash in-and civilians keen to participate. Most of us know the differences.
  19. Hi Russ It's just worth a quick mention that returnees(retreads) can also have been 'theoneswhowerethere'...but not maybe for the whole time. It doesn't follow that returnees make for a Div (by any definition).

  22. I got Mark's book delivered today-Sat 18th. And read it. I just couldn't put it down. Fascinating accounts on a much overlooked and overdue subject. I'm not a book critic as such...I just loved it. Favourite chapter for me is 13. congratulations, Mark atb ken
  23. I have a 1970 B&S The Motown Story edition- in good cond. I'd be interested in issue 13 or 14 to swap. or possible other early issue. Full description/scans etc if required. atb ken
  24. What a great feature. So easy to catch up with local events when 'away from home'
  25. Two recent SS topics aligned like the planets for me today! 1. Northern Soul and Age in 2017 - Carry On Regardless? 2. Yate, Just A Distant Memory ? (original post 2006) Which got me thinking…biggest regret? What’s yours? It's maybe that '"i wish i would have momemnt" or records, people, artists, venues, visits, events, lost a record, sold one,... Mine is missing out on some of the great records played at the post M/T/W era. Many of which were played out by DJ’s (who also feature & contribute as members on this site) at other venues around the UK.
