  1. let's not leave the "W's" without someone posting one from Kim,please.
  2. Wooooosh....let's bring on the "W's" (getting close to the end now) There are so many "W's" that list as my fave's for various reasons (hint hint "the baby", etc) i'm sure it will show up ( hint hint " I can't wait...)
  3. Vrooom-let's get the "V's" going (note: female artists/female groups)
  4. Today we start the "T'S" Not my cuppa tea this one, but i do know some people would chew their arm of to get the 12".
  5. Still with the "S's" (remember, girl /girl groups only pls. And try to keep ssme letter posts to 1 or 2-see Mike's note)
  6. My "R" - i'll pop an "S" on Sunday then we should be back in-line. maybe controversial again... ‘Don’t You Worry Baby The Best Is Yet To Come’(Besse Banks)is a track that was first played at Blackpool Mecca in 1976 . Greg Wilson, UK DJ launched his Super Weird Substance label back in June 2015. Having featured on the label's inaugurating release alongside Wilson, Seacombe-based twins The Reynolds step up for their debut proper with a superb cover version of a Northern Soul classic. Vocals from Katherine and Carmel Reynolds ride the production work by Greg Wilson and Lee 'Peza' Perry.
  7. Are you not doing an "R"? - or have i missed it (something)

    Discatron Revisited!

that's something i could leave to the grandkids...interested in helping with the crowd funding when you get it going. good luck
  9. as per Mike's concerns-Please ONLY POST ONE per " letter". I don't think that will be an issue as i move it to the "Q's" Quiet Elegance formed in Detroit with Yvonne "Frankie" Gearing, Mildred Vaney, and Lois Reeves. Vaney (aka Mildred Scott). Frankie Gearing has been in the Glories, the Laddins, and the Steinway's.Out of the 8 singles, this 1975 number is (IMO) their closest to NS.

this is sad indeed. my own small tribute by pointing back to Northern Connections #9 in Soul Source Articles.
  11. Phew...we're heading into the "P's" (Girl/Girl Group only) The Poodles comprised two sisters Marilyn and Sue Cogdill and their cousin Sharon Cunningham. They recorded at Southern City's small rehearsal studio in Gallatin, Tennessee. It was never intended that 'step by step' would be released with the low level of sound quality. The Poodlles one and only release. The B side 'I got a good thing' was recorded at a local nightclub with a few students placed around the stage for audience sound effects.
  12. Yes- i'd have been really disappointed if someone hadn't put this up. Nice One
  13. Happy New Year 2018. Oh...Let's start it with the "O's" a Va-Va spin
  14. yes- the "N's" are a little harder- so i'll leave it open until this evening (then open the "O's")
  15. Note the "N's" are here... (don't forget, Girl or Girl Groups only) I prefer Barbara & The Castles version, but hey that's no good for an "N"
  16. Mmmmm-Moving to the "M's" This is one i skip past in by box... Born in 1936 (real name: Joan Pipkins King), and - having lived in San Francisco and New York - came to London in 1961 or so. Married Pete King (Ronnie Scott's partner) in 1962 but they separated quite quickly. In 1963 she took over from Cleo Laine in Johnny Dankworth's band, but was apparently hot-headed and tricky to work with.
  17. Kracking onto Kristmas with the "K's" Girl/Girl Groups Joyce Kennedy grew up in Chicago. She made her name in Mother’s Finest who put out rock sides starting in the early 70’s. “Does Anybody Love Me” pre-dates her MF days; around 1965.
