  1. i'd explored a lot of stuff on the Neville Brothers for the #14 article i recently posted. So the news of his passing was really sad news. RIP.
  2. Steve's been about for years in the (uk band -Soul Survivors which went on to be) Love Affair. indeed Paul Weller's influence is all over it.
  3. I wasn't there myself...but i think the Detroit Emeralds were in Mid 70's?
  4. i still think i can...and that's all that counts Joey my friend.
  5. Northern Soul Connections #14 - Confessin A Feeling For The Philharmonics - Latest connections just published and it's a big one... Tap to view this Soul Source News/Article in full
  6. We have #14 of this now long running series 'Northern soul Connections' to enjoy Titled... Northern Soul Connections #14 - Confessin A Feeling For The Philharmonics This lengthy 'connection' is a welcome addition to the series from @Kenb The Philharmonics - I Need I Need Your Love Tony Owen - Confessin' A Feeling
  7. I’ve read the OP several times now ...and just don’t get it? are you saying you can’t find the NS music you want to hear at a venue(within a reasonable distance to where you live)? and... who is We? Is there a group who feel the same? other than that, you are entitled to your own opinion.
  8. I've been researching this for over 18 months (on and off) for maybe one of my Northern Connection articles. without too much luck on Ann herself, i have to say. Armco to American Sound Corp to Ardco (allied record dist co) to CIRCA (consolidated international record co america) - are the distie/label clues to follow, but these and other non-Ann stuff is all i have at the moment( and expect ever to get).
  9. liner notes on CD's are to die for...more often than not.
  10. Last CD i bought was 'Birth of Soul-Special DETROIT Edition 1961-1964' -Kent

  13. I think i get the tone of your thread Jam66, and have some empathy with it in general. But...there's 360 million people in North America and many of them are in-tune with their ( and our NS /R&B/Soul) music history and culture. It's "like us" though, how many out of the total population of the UK ( is 54 million?) 'get it'?
  14. thanks for that Dave. Corrections, or further enlightenment are encouraged and appreciated. cheers Ken
  15. Most know of the Payola scandals. But deducting Payola from income taxes as a business expense is a new one on me. -Feb 2nd 1967.
  16. That is sad news...and an unhappy coincidence that i had just posted Northern Connections 13 in February which linked him into the story. One of the finest prod ucers/arrangers. RIP the "Wiz"
  17. Willie Wade -"Come Into My World". Not outlandishly expensive...
  18. I wonder if there are any more out there?
  19. You might be mistaken about Kokomo. That was Jimmy "Wiz" Wisner's assumed name as an artist. We all know he was a great arranger/producer, but he released some material as a vocalist 'Asia Minor', etc.
