  6. In John Lias's fabulous books -Spinning Around: The History of The Soul LP, he records that the 20th Century Album (that the Secret History of Chicago Music author/OP talks about) was released with 3 unamed male singers supplanting Gwen Livsey & Doris Lindsey. No wonder they found it hard to get paid for their efforts.
  7. JM's Tami Lynn auction EP sparked a recollection that might interest some of you. In Joel Selvin's book "Here Comes The Night" the discography of the A & R recordings Oct 30, 1964 lists 'You My Love' (aka 'Run Away') as one of the unissued 4 part recordings. (was it Keb who covered it up, i can' remember?). Anyhow...Joel also goes on to say [sic]"six years after the release of 'I'm Gonna Run Away From You', John Abbey gave Bern's production a slight revision and the record went Top 5 in the UK in 1971. Joel also goes on to say [sic] "the stereo version of IGRAFY on Cotillion 1972 LP9052, has her second vocal and male backgroung missing and instead has 3 members of The Angels overdubbed in NY on Feb 10th, 1965.
  8. i bet there's a couple of thousand 60's uptempo out of Chicago alone

missed last month (one of the few)....looking forward to coming back for June.
  10. forgive me...but the phrase "selling a boot second hand" seems wierd!. Passing a boot on maybe fits better don't you think?
  11. i don't see a difference, and nobody has to keep me happy. everyone has an opinion and a choice.
  12. there was a mad rush on here to condemn John Manship for what was his non-deliberate 'school boy error' concerning a boot on his site. Then it seems people on here are condoning (or at the very least have a laissez faire attitude) to the sale of boot's. I think that is disengenous. What you do with with yours is entirely up to you.
  13. I'm not up on the terminolgy...but i think you are saying you sold or sell bootlegs. If so that surprises me.
  14. don't quite get this? and may have misunderstood, but are you saying you sell carvers?

WRT the 11/5/2022 JM Auction results thread chat on Fluorescent Smogg about the release year and the year when it was played (thought to be mid 80's). I thought I might have seen a mention of LA Connection? Is it not generally known that Fluorescent Smogg were aka LA Connection. Arranger on 'All My Life' Walter Perry, was amongst other things on the 1982 Cameo tour. Wilber Richardson writing credit on 'All My Life' and Wilbert Richardson (cited as a member of LA Connection on Discogs ) are the same person. By 2009/10, there was a Wilbert Richardson who ended up as a cook at Dreamland BBQ in Montgomery, Alabama. I mention this because 7th Wonder (the other W.G. Label artists were from Tuskegee, Alabama). 7th Wonder also recorded on Chocolate City label, as did Cameo. Larry Blackmon composer/producer on 'Burn Me Up/Promise Me', LA Connection; also Cameo group founder & leader moved from New York where Cameo began in the mid 70's to Atlanta. All of which makes me think the release date of ‘All My Life’ was (as has been said) probably not before 1978
  16. I've been in the USA a month (just back now)...and just missed out on the Indications show in Las Vegas.

Thanks for getting in touch Gracemary, and welcome. How old were you when you recorded on Ruth label? Where was it recorded? How did you Ollie first meet? etc. BTW-later on (in the late 70's) in your career did you have something to do with films/scores/Ed Morelli. feel free to wander through your career, i'm sure @Premium Stuff the Original Poster would like to know. best kenb
