  2. cheers, i'll take a look cheers. do they do an access db softkey?
  3. thanks, I'll have to keep re-reading it...but i think that wouldn't work for me. I can get to the "run-time of my Access" i.e rows and columns, but i can't get to edit, add, move. Mine 'pops up' with buy the Access Key (licence).
  4. i have my record collection on an access database. label, artist, writers, dates, etc etc. I've had to replace my P.C and didn't realise the Windows licences bundle ( i purchased) didn't have an Access license. I know i could buy a stand-alone Access licence or get 365...but wondered if anyone had any legal work-around solution/advice? TIA ken
  5. I assume a “naughty stick” means ‘someone might be missing out’ with regards to revenue? Or am I wrong ?
  6. an update: The Fendermen were originally from Canada (Edmonton) but turned up in a variety of U.S. places, making them hard to track down. Anyhow, they added a girl singer Mary Keith and here they are at one of their gigs at Club Gi-Gi 8030 West Ogden, in july 1968.
  7. This Acetate is almost certainly attributable to Frank Werber (started his road to fame as the Kingston Trio manager). He had a recording studio in the basement of Columbus Tower 916 Kearny, ( as well as a penthouse office on the 8th or 9th). His first waxing in 1965 was with We Five https://www.45cat.com/record/770. A very wealthy man, who had many businesses.
  8. There are probably dozens of groups called the Mystics, and the same too for the Emotions, and I can’t tell you anything about either of the groups that cut disc’s on Marquette Records under those names. (n.b. neither do I know anything about Rick Baker) However, I thought I’d share the little I know about Marquette Records itself, out of Pacifica, California In his early 30’s, and for a short time, Marshall Johnson owned Marquette Records, Mark II, Songwriter, Inc. and an exotic clothing shop for entertainers called MJ of the Bay. Born in Memphis, Tennessee he also counted himself as musician, promoter, and owner of at least two properties in Fairmont, Pacifica (plus one which he rented under the name Frank Howard). You would be hard pressed to have missed him if you lived near Sunshine Drive because he drove a powder blue Rolls Royce. Unfortunately driving a Rolls brought its problems with the Police, and he had several run-in’s without being charged for anything. On the Emotions, Marquette 45, Melvin (Tank) Jernigen[sic] turns up as arranger, and we can find him on the likes of Ruby Sherry, Watts 103rd etc. past posts Soul source https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/235488-columbus-recorders-acetate-of-rick-baker-thats-called-love/ https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/352793-mystics-mystiques/

    Denis Law

he was such a great player you would be forgiven for thinking he played in the final...but my memory (which is bad) has him as injured and not playing that final. Stretford End paddock supporter.
  10. When the world and his dog are “manifesting“ everything ( whatever that is )… maybe the folks who released this did just that. (As An NS rendition)
  11. He sometimes gets a lot of stick, but fair play on this
  12. I always said I’d stop going out if I couldn’t fitness-wise dance anymore. Well that happened this year BUT I went out with a bang when Mark did his set at Ukrainian in the summer. On the Ukrainian…went most months for 7 years. Chris and the guys deserve praise indeed. Never had a bad night. Long may they continue.
  13. I’m a bit late on this one… but happy xmas / NY to all, especially Mike and the team for another great year of Soul Sourcerer.
  14. now you are getting the hang of this forum
  15. people have been saying "the scene" can only last another ________ 'fill in the blanks' for years , since at least 1990. What "scene" is really left anyway?
  16. On the “How old now” bit…Slight topic drift, but people i meet from time to time who strike up a Wigan conversation always say they we’re 15 yrs old and sneaked out of home through the toilet window.
  17. Irrespective of the swaps & switches on Soul Inc and those listed on Discogs, the band members on WGUPMCD were Freddie Pugh, Eddie Zomerfield, Skip Davis, Edgar Smith, Robbie Robinson and Pete Toglio. does that help?
  18. That little driveway was between the BSR Building (at that time used by the federal gov, revenue, taxes, etc) and Condors. Concrete floor. Club owner Larry Pressley,
  19. “My Girl,” the single that gave the Temptations their first No. 1 hit while enduring as a showpiece of the 20th century music canon, is about to turn 60. The West Grand Boulevard institution, housed in Motown’s original headquarters, is releasing a new vinyl edition of “My Girl” — a glistening, ear-opening version prepared from the original studio multitrack tapes and pressed at Jack White’s Third Man record plant 2 miles south in Midtown Detroit. 20. depends. As long as it's not passed-off as anything but AI+ generated then i see no harm. None of the tracks in the vid above appeal to me. However i do get the thought that Colin Day is sincere and skilled.

  22. Northern Connections #38 Aqua Lads re-visited, taking in the Chantells & Twighlights The most recent issue of this long running informative series courtesy of Ken b aka @Kenb Intro sparked by the Soul Source topic “What goes up must come down” of Nov 2024… …about The Charms Unlimited and Soul Inc and very good it was too, got me thinking about a re-visit of The Aqua Lads, Chantells, etc. It’s worth pointing out at this juncture that some written information about those that follow is published, (but skip Discogs) go straight to E. Mark Windle’s Interview & book “It’s Better To Cry”. It has a worthy section, and I recommend it. Albeit I’ve never found Mark’s reference “and a later band member Ken Hatley (bass guitar, 1967) “ when searching for band members. Also, as of writing and due to serious illness, Mark Bicknell’s release on Big Man Records of Aqua Lads backed with Twighlights with notes by Mark Windle hasn’t yet to hit the shops. That all said, I've tried where possible to bring new information and pictures without compromising their work. Northern Connections #38 (tap images for full view) As always you can check out all Kens other quality 36 Northern Connections and more via his 'activity' profile page, via the link below... https://www.soul-source.co.uk/profile/37754-kenb/content/?type=cms_records5&change_section=1
