WRT the 11/5/2022 JM Auction results thread chat on Fluorescent Smogg about the release year and the year when it was played (thought to be mid 80's). I thought I might have seen a mention of LA Connection?
Is it not generally known that Fluorescent Smogg were aka LA Connection.
Arranger on 'All My Life' Walter Perry, was amongst other things on the 1982 Cameo tour.
Wilber Richardson writing credit on 'All My Life' and Wilbert Richardson (cited as a member of LA Connection on Discogs ) are the same person. By 2009/10, there was a Wilbert Richardson who ended up as a cook at Dreamland BBQ in Montgomery, Alabama. I mention this because 7th Wonder (the other W.G. Label artists were from Tuskegee, Alabama). 7th Wonder also recorded on Chocolate City label, as did Cameo.
Larry Blackmon composer/producer on 'Burn Me Up/Promise Me', LA Connection; also Cameo group founder & leader moved from New York where Cameo began in the mid 70's to Atlanta.
All of which makes me think the release date of ‘All My Life’ was (as has been said) probably not before 1978

Thanks for getting in touch Gracemary, and welcome.
How old were you when you recorded on Ruth label? Where was it recorded? How did you Ollie first meet? etc.
BTW-later on (in the late 70's) in your career did you have something to do with films/scores/Ed Morelli.
feel free to wander through your career, i'm sure @Premium Stuff the Original Poster would like to know.

I've heard his acoustic version of this and "That's What Love Will Do" on a cassette tape my mother had.
"Soul Thing" is my least favorite of his discography, and I really enjoy the songs where he has a softer tone. Although "Hair" is always a fun one, too.I guess you are a relative...?
Is there anything you can share about Tommy, the 45 in question, recording, associates, etc.

get your general point, and it's a good one...but what about those that came out of pressing plants in the 60's/70's booted?...'Get a job', 'Maybe', Sam Cooke on Keen, etc.
Not everything gets "trapped".

Romeo Leroy Taylor was maybe ...'a bit of a boy' . His business intersts included Hollywood Talent Productions (with Carmelina) and Leroy's Bail Bonds to name two.
Hope it helps with your digging.

Could this actually be Leon Haywood and the guys whose disc on Josie was 6 releases before the "Sir John" record? This was Leon & The Burners-Crack up and the link being N.Nathan( Magnificent Montague) who put out loads of discs with Leon under different names such as the Romeos, Soul Runners etc.
I don't think so Graham. I know who the 'Sir John's' were, and they certainly have nothing to do with Funky 16 corners (Highlighters band, James Bell, et al), but go-ahead if you can make a connection with Leon, i'd like to see it.

chesk out Joey from Oldham ( just search) on here. As well as the other places, he was a regular (maybe semi-regular) i think. we spoke about it in some threads here at Soul Source.

yes that's him...although he's unlikely to be on the Josey 45. He was a native of Rochester, New York before moving to Florida in the late 80's. and the 45 preceeded his involvement in the band i think.( assuming the Josey 45 is 60's/70's)

Like those Rod, knew the one, not the other... I guess what Im asking for here is the more soulful side of Group Harmony or Doo Wop as allot call it. Not all of those records selected for the LP "Under the street lamp" were really early sixties, but the LP had a sound to it... as time has gone on we know more about these groups, but back then that LP was a revelation for allot of folks, I collected them all, but I still put the Lp on and listen through...
SS did a few more CD's in the 9ts as well, with stuff like 'The Executive Four - You Are' Lumar, 'The Limelights - You Don't Love Me Anymore' Uncle ,The Appreciations - No No No' Aware and so on...
I got a copy of 'The Ambassadors – Too Young For Me' on Fleet not long ago, a serious bit of Group Harmony that... thats the stuff Im looking for...
If you've not already read it, this might interest you..
