If it is the one that looks very much like the original then this sale price isn't the first time, it has sold for more.  I sold one a few years ago for 200.  Plenty look what is playing on the deck but how many take a closer look?

don't quite get this? and may have misunderstood, but are you saying you sell carvers?

  2. Thanks for getting in touch Gracemary, and welcome.

How old were you when you recorded on Ruth label? Where was it recorded? How did you Ollie first meet? etc.

BTW-later on (in the late 70's) in your career did you have something to do with films/scores/Ed Morelli.

feel free to wander through your career, i'm sure @Premium Stuff the Original Poster would like to know.

I've heard his acoustic version of this and "That's What Love Will Do" on a cassette tape my mother had.
"Soul Thing" is my least favorite of his discography, and I really enjoy the songs where he has a softer tone. Although "Hair" is always a fun one, too.

I guess you are a relative...?

Is there anything you can share about Tommy, the 45 in question, recording, associates, etc.

Does anyone know who he is, or was? My assumption is that he was a DJ, but that’s a pure guess

45cat.com has him as 'Laurie Sellstrom  was a Scottish A&R rep for E.M.I.'

Anyhow this looks to be another painful post, lets ditch it, Ive better things to do mate..

yeah as you say mate...let's ditch it. I've no idea what the acroynms are or anything else with the thread. So agree, better things to do👍

Could this actually be Leon Haywood and the guys whose disc on Josie was 6 releases before the "Sir John" record? This was Leon & The Burners-Crack up and the link being N.Nathan( Magnificent Montague) who put out loads of discs with Leon under different names such as the Romeos, Soul Runners etc.

I don't think so Graham👍. I know who the 'Sir John's' were, and they certainly have nothing to do with Funky 16 corners (Highlighters band, James Bell, et al), but go-ahead if you can make a connection with Leon, i'd like to see it.

Like those Rod, knew the one, not the other... I guess what Im asking for here is the more soulful side of Group Harmony or Doo Wop as allot call it. Not all of those records selected for the LP "Under the street lamp" were really early sixties, but the LP had a sound to it... as time has gone on we know more about these groups, but back then that LP was a revelation for allot of folks, I collected them all, but I still put the Lp on and listen through...

SS did a few more CD's in the 9ts as well, with stuff like 'The Executive Four - You Are' Lumar,  'The Limelights - You Don't Love Me Anymore' Uncle ,The Appreciations - No No No' Aware and so on...

I got a copy of 'The Ambassadors – Too Young For Me' on Fleet not long ago, a serious bit of Group Harmony that...  thats the stuff Im looking for...

If you've not already read it, this might interest you..
