  1. sad loss. as the We Three writing team she helped pen some good un's. 'i like what your doing to me', 'take care of your home work', etc
  2. such a massive contrast between the FIFA World Cup (set-up in Qatar) and The Rugby League World Cup(s) played here in England. Maybe it's just my working-class heritage rearing it's ugly head again. I guess FIFA will find a way to 'give it The World Cup host nation to' North Korea soon. As for the footie...there's always something to get me excited.
  3. Hi Chalky, nice post. The Photo for the group. It's the same as on discogs BUT now has names on it. Do you know where those names came from? Did Chuck 'assign' them to the Photo during the interview? or did they come from somewhere else.?
  4. Mary Wells 45 arrived today (10/11/22). Notwithstanding the music...it is so well presented by Alex and team.t ken

  6. Northern Soul Connections #30 - The Seventh Sense - The latest in this now very long running (30!) series of soul connected connections from Ken B aka @Kenb The manager of The Seventh Sense was James Shaw, Shaw Records SH-1. He was mostly a realtor at Lindsay & Shaw Real Estate, 13 Middle Turnpike, East Manchester, Connecticut- the same address as on the SH-1 Shaw Records label. James was an Irishman and brought big bands like Woody Herman to the Hartford area, at places like Pagani's Crystal Lake Ballroom in... Northern Soul Connections #30 - The Seventh Sense I'd like to dedicate this article to Red Kelly, The Soul Detective R.I.P July this year. Ken B Nov 2022 Site info You can check out Kens other quality 29 Northern Connections all available via his 'activity' profile page, the link follows below... https://www.soul-source.co.uk/profile/37754-kenb/content/?type=cms_records5&change_section=1 Added by site
  7. Interesting brief story about the Seventh Sense outing coming soon.
  8. I guess you might tell me you already know this, but hope this helps....some stuff when i was 'tracking Relic' Joe Martin owned Relic Rack music shop aka Relic Records ( sometimes 116) 136 Main St, Hackensack, N.J. You may also see this as Relic Rack/Relic Distie. The record shop was owned/run by various people...i think 1968 -2004 it was George Lavatelli, but others were involved in the early 60's/70's e.g. Chuck Fitzgerald, mgr. BTW- you can find Apex-Martin ads on Billboard,351 Washington St, Newark, NJ.
  9. that's very sad. R.I.P Joe Tarsia. I was only talking about him yesterday...strangely enough about the Jacksons
  10. Can anyone please help with a scan of Soul Revolution, by Desciples of Soul on Del-Mar-Va label? cheers
  11. ignoring the debate for now...what i don't get is, if your profile is correct you would have been 4 yrs old in 1973? So is it the case that (if you are female) it's a lady's prergogative not to tell her age - or is your profile a bootleg/carver? So is your experience 1st hand or 'passed down' either way, i'm sort with Chalky on this one.
  12. How interesting...could be something or nothing but the discogs page https://www.discogs.com/artist/3810236-Fiery-Bursey from my previous post is coming up as Not Found.
  13. There is a (https://www.discogs.com/artist/3810236-Fiery-Bursey) also written as Flery Bursey- AND- the other writer on stick with me is Walter Fields (https://www.discogs.com/artist/1016441-Walter-Fields). Both have Motown connections.
  14. @Cover-up I've always been interested in this...for many a year. I can add (what might turn out to be more confusion) to this; Remembering that some of the players in this include Steve Royal, Jet label, Survival Label. There was a newspaper 'snippet' from March 1978 that says "Love is all you need" Jet UP 36382 is a rather breathy message from Rita Wright on her debut single this week". Rita who is 21, (note: this would mean she was born in 1957) has worked in several London shows inc Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, and a starring role in The Black Mikado. There is an accompanying Photo to the 'snippet' that has a striking resemblance (braided hair, etc) to Syreeta. According to most sources Syreeta was born in 1946. Interstingly though, the cast of The Black Mikado included Patti Boulaye (under the name Patricia Ebigwei) as Yum-Yum. She also appeared in Hair and Jesus Christ Superstar. And made an appearance on New Faces, 1978. Patricia Ebigwei is the artist on Survival SUR -4 'The Moon & I' producer Steve Royal. Wiki has her down as born in 1954. And again, a striking resemblance to the accompanying Photo in the 'snippet'. Maybe she could also be the vocal on Intimate Strangers on Alaska 105, BUT it could be any female connected to John Shroeder's Alaska label ( e.g Marie Toland aka Tina Tott...another New Faces contestant, Juy 1975). Then we have Esther Byrd (aka Anastasia Rodriguez). As Esther Byrd she appeared with Ray Charles & His Orch + Raelettes at The Odeon, Birmingham on Oct 11th 1978. As Esther Byrd she appeared in Shylock as the character Portia in 1981 at Haymarket Theatre, Leicester and as Anastasia Rodriguez appeared in Shylock as the character Portia in1982 at Library Theatre, Manchester, You can find recordings of 4 songs from the Shylock productions at Zforzando (label) ZF001 (Discogs). Interestingly again...Her West End credits include playing Katisha in The Black Mikado at the Cambridge Theatre and Jesus Christ Superstar in London & Germany. On Steve Royal - best left to his words 'I have been part of many companies with other directors and i accept my share of the responsibility over failures'. - e.g. Wham & Adam Ant fan clubs, records not released, etc. So...is the Rita Wright in the newspaper 'snippet' Pat Boulaye aka Patricia Ebigwei? And how come we have Rita Wright, Pattie Boulaye and Esther Byrd aka Anastasia Rodreguez as having appeared in The Black Mikado, Jesus Christ Superstar, coincidence?

One of my hips has been playing me up...(if i can't dance i'll give it up) but 'No Time For You' and others got me up. excellent DJ's all round
  19. @Benji- short answer No. When i spoke (& from my email notes) to Tom DeCillis his memory was a bit vague and i didn't press him on Sound of Soul. Tom was into a lot of stuff at the time.Tom's musical interests during that time was with Bernadette Carroll-The Angels, PM for ARC recording artists The Dynamics, had been Astro's promo man, Julia records, T-D, Bobby Lee, and so it goes on. Ed Leipzig would probably have been the man to ask...unfortunately i didn't!
  20. firm favourite of mine too...and there treatment of ( the oldie crooner) 'stranger in paradise' is something also.
  21. here's a couple more... Carl Holmes (& The Commanders) had a brief fling with Pro Baseball & Football (Full Back & Guard for Willow Grove Athletic Club) Diamond Jim Riley - Pro Boxer.
