Around 1965, 1566 Lookout Drive (address on some Philwood 45's) was the address of the publicity officer for WTGR that broadcast from the studios of WKNO educational TV station (as part of the speech and drams dept) at Memphis State Uni.

It has recently been put out here again by Charly ... BUT about 20+ years ago I recall going into the Manchester branch of the big UK indie discount record / CD shop of those times (it went bust) and seeing a newly released UK version of this 45 in their cheap box (it was on a soul reissue label). I left it coz I already had an earlier copy of the 45, but I've never seen another copy (& this version doesn't seem to be up on Discogs). Always regretted not buying it.
Can anyone tell me what label it was on (my brain is failing due to old age) ?
maybe it was Lindsey's RJL ( bought out by MGM). Ignore that...obviously not a UK version.

yes i've been listening all day. (to the test)
After Stuart had left the studio and Aggers got into conversation with Michael Vaughn, Aggers went on to describe NS to Vaughn and said 'yes they stayed up all night to dance, they drank milk and had biscuits'. didn't know that

Recently was given the book and do take some 'factual' quotes from it for facts but few others are just not thorough right. Have already pointed out few. Like that one on here where he misses the point that Dakar was first independent before being picked up by the Cotillion Group for national distribution through their pressings plants partnership. And this is crucial to realize how this record's faith came out to be significantly different a second time around.
There's no mention of this first local self distributed small Dakar output in Robert Pruter's book... Knowing that Tyrone Davis 'a woman needs to be loved' for national distribution was re-pressed some 4 months later at least brings another light as to how 'can I change my mind' came to be PLUGGED by Houston, Texas Radio Dee-Jay 'Wild Child'. That without such further's 'exposition' through larger promotion and distribution would likely not have been.
Tim, 'CICMM' was released as the b-side of the a-side 'A woman needs to be loved. Then "Wild Child" & "Bugaloo George" began playing the b-side...that's how it took off.

coincidence... i was just cleaning up some filles. There was a rumpus about who "owned the band name" on this single;
Joe Vargo ( who dis-associated himself from the band) or Jimmy Mann. It didn't get past a court injuction (raised by Joe Vargo).
