  1. Found this up the loft yesterday along with some old soul mags and a some picturs sleeves to some long gone records, The Bottle, Johnny Bragg etc. Always thought it was a posh badge for what was no more than a wooden shed really.
  2. Great version of the Manhattans - I Wanna Be on the other side.

Soultown is a great looking label, just make sure it's a record that really did come out on Soultown and not one of the many boots that were done on it.

I used to glue a razor blade to the b side. Be careful what glue you use as some can disolve styrene, assuming that it is styrene.

Not sure what you mean, the grooves were off centre with an ordinary adaptor so I placed the record on top of another record and lined the outer edges of both records up but the Maurice Williams was still off centre. Next I made a cardboard centre and then copied the measurements onto the plastic centre, plays perfect now if you put the spindle to the filed out side of the centre.

File a pop in center out so that the record is centered correctly, as in the scan. I'll eventually get round to gluing a piece of plastic over the oval hole with a round hole in it.

2 friends of mine were invited to appear on the show but when they found out they were expected to wear "fancy dress" they emailed the producer & said they weren't happy about it, he emailed back to withdraw the invitation. Pity really as they were planning to use the opportunity to answer Jazzy B's coments of last year.

Never mind, the Souled Out film will soon be out to show the general public a true puicture of the northern scene
  20. Quote from the Sentinel "the film Souled Out which will chart the rise of the Northern Soul scene" Someone from the film mentioned Duffy, Weller, Weinhouse & Ronson on the Radio Stoke soul show giving the impression that they would be contributing music to the film.
  21. I am going to wait till the film comes out, I haven't slagged it off since they assured us it would feature authentic music. All I've said is that I don't trust the people in charge of making this film. Anyway, what's your connection to it?
  22. Because in the original publicity for this film they made a point of mentioning Duffy, Weller, Ronson & Weinhouse, nothing about any authentic music until they got slagged off on here. They seem to say different things depending on who they're talking to, one minute it's a love story that just happens to feature the Northern scene, next it's a film about Wigan Casino. Is it any wonder we don't trust them.
  23. I remember watching something on the telly about a bloke making a silent record sometime in the early 70's, claimed it was an artistic statement, load of b*llocks more like.
  24. I tought Gino was Gino Parks
  25. Huey Morgan out of The Fun Loving Criminals is playing a record shop owner in Souled Out.
