  1. Joe Hinton, unless it was Little Richard that ate all the pies.
  2. Yeah, Silhouettes is a great record got the LP & single now, LP's knackered but looks good on the wall though. I remember him having something on La Beat, but didn't know if it was Al Williams or Lester Tipton, turns out it was both, wouldn't have been able to afford 'em though even if Butch hadn't had them. Still a few nice things left, but I'm skint now though. Cheers Crumb
  3. My mate rang me up last week, he was selling what was left of his collection. Unfortunatly, a certain Dobson had got all the good stuff a few years ago, still, managed to get: Silhouettes - Goodway Sandy Wynns - Simco Frank Beverley - Gamble Ringleaders - M-Pac And off ebay , just under £20 Soul Shakers - I'm getting weaker
  4. It's usually the other way round, like 'em at first then go off 'em through overexposure but one that I hated when I first heard Sam play it at an alldayer in Bangor was LADY IN GREEN. Love it now though.
  5. Bloody 'ell, I thought I'd done well at £238 Well done
  6. I'd been looking on ebay for one for ages without any luck then a vg+ one came up but I was outbid by a dealer at about £80. The day after it sold a minter appeared & I got it for £53. Just depends who's after one at the time I suppose, that was about 2 years ago. Hope that's of some help.
  7. Perhaps they thought the Sherries stood a better chance as they had already hit with The Popeye
  8. No, I tried to climb down the wrong side of a pair of step ladders, the side with no steps on, I can barely walk let alone dance. See you at Dave Alcocks memorial do next Fri.
  9. Programme about Detroit music, not just soul, MC5, Iggy etc as well. Just noticed that The Life & Death of Marvin Gaye is on before it.
  10. Flip of Come See great as well. LANCE__MAJOR___YOU_BELONG_TO_ME_MY_LOVE.mp3
  11. Rose Brooks - They're Coming To Take Me Away - official A side of I'm Moaning
  12. Yeah, unissued anywhere until Grapevine. Paid about £10 for mine not long ago but there's one on ebay buy it now for £45. Can't see it selling, but have seen it go for 20ish.
  13. Thanks for that Better than I thought it was but I think the Stairsteps has the edge. Better value for your money anyway.
  14. I always used to say I prefered the Five Stairsteps, but I think it was as much to wind my mate up as anything. I haven't heard the Shamettes for years so I'm not sure now.
  15. Just been listening to the Five Stairsteps, but it reminded me of the other version, can't think who it's by & it's doing my head in.
  16. Yeah, A few years ago, when my wife was working in a bookshop the woman from the Cancer Research shop next door came in and ordered a record collector price guide.
  17. Got GET IT BABY, no saying where though Copied it off Lewi from Runcorn who had it round his nipple
  18. Buy Manships bootleg guide if you haven't already got it.
  19. Bootlegged on ootp, don't think it was pressed on either of the original labels, Champion & Doc.
  20. Nick does a guest spot on the Radio Stoke soul show on the first friday of the month. The show is 7 - 9, and Nick's on in the first half. The Fabulous Peps were on last friday, if anyone wants to hear it it should be available on listen again. Go to https://www.bbc.co.uk/stoke/radiostoke/ and type in Mary Fox.
  21. I just remembered reading it somewhere, it turns out it was on here last year, and nobody was really sure anyway.
  22. Quote from Manship's bootleg guide on Florence Devore "some of the pale blue bootlegs actually play Thelma Lindsey"
  23. Just done a quick search, this has been done on here before but nobody came up with a definite answer. Personally I don't think John of the Weirdest sounds like either Bowie or Hendley but if I had to pick one I'd go for John Bowie.
  24. I thought John & the Weirdest was John Bowie.
  25. Not to be confused with Bobby Crush either, completely different bloke.
