    andy wall

    From the album: Wigan

  2. Bid $80 on ebay about 4 years ago but was outbid, got one for $15 from Jamaica not long after, both black labels as in the scan.
  3. I'm stunned, just read it in the Sentinel. I was only thinking about him yesterday when I was clearing out the loft & found a pile of HBS.
  4. Label owners Mike Hanks & "Diamond Jim" Riley both shot dead at Detroit nightclubs.
  5. Tammi Terrell's sister doesn't think Ruffin had owt to do with her death. Not sure about Dave (Prater), he may have done, she seemed to pick the wrong blokes, but she was allegedly beaten up by James Brown. Sam Moore claimed they split up because Dave shot his (own) wife. Dave was later killed in a car crash. Probably the most grusome death was Bobby Fuller who was pumped full of petrol for messing with a gangsters girl friend.
  6. Lester Tipton was killed by a burglar Larry Williams shot dead & so was Tony Hester
  7. I've got one as well, cost a lot less than a doctorbird copy.
  8. Ha ha, there's enough funny stories about Meady for him to have his own thread. He got kicked out of the house once so he went to sleep in a phone box, the police spotted him and kept ringing him up to offer him a bed in the cells. Took him a while to think of leaving the phone off the hook. Haven't seen him for years, any idea how he is these days?
  9. Found this up the loft yesterday along with some old soul mags and a some picturs sleeves to some long gone records, The Bottle, Johnny Bragg etc. Always thought it was a posh badge for what was no more than a wooden shed really.
  10. Great version of the Manhattans - I Wanna Be on the other side.
  11. He's on Facebook
  12. Soultown is a great looking label, just make sure it's a record that really did come out on Soultown and not one of the many boots that were done on it.
  13. Recent thread on Florence Devore here /Florenc...817#entry920817 Including scans of both demos
  14. It's had a few names over the years, I think it was Deavilles, Baileys & as Jez said Strikes.
  15. Not northern, but a great song anyway - Gee Whiz, It's Christmas - Carla Thomas
  16. Boot. Really Outsiders or Rainbows, not sure which.
  17. Original demo
  18. Yeah, I saw it. Can't remember much about it but I think it featured Richie Barrett - Some Other Guy.
  19. Just played my US Gamble copy & it sounds the same as the one posted above to me.
  20. PVA worked ok on my Shawn Robinson
  21. Just bought it Cheers Crumb
  22. I used to glue a razor blade to the b side. Be careful what glue you use as some can disolve styrene, assuming that it is styrene.
  23. Not sure what you mean, the grooves were off centre with an ordinary adaptor so I placed the record on top of another record and lined the outer edges of both records up but the Maurice Williams was still off centre. Next I made a cardboard centre and then copied the measurements onto the plastic centre, plays perfect now if you put the spindle to the filed out side of the centre.
  24. File a pop in center out so that the record is centered correctly, as in the scan. I'll eventually get round to gluing a piece of plastic over the oval hole with a round hole in it.
