Hi and thanks for looking. I'm selling the following and hope that I've been realistic with the prices based on conditions. If you do pay by PayPal please do so as a gift. £2.75 recorded delivery or £5.50 Special Delivery. Please contact me via chris.penn@voweurope.com if interested or call 07799 772513. Hi, Can anyone help me please? I would like a high quality copy / high resolution copy of the 45 rpm logo (silver & black) as used on the Stateside / TMG records. No commercial gain, just to use as the basis of artwork so that the logo can be replicated and resized for enbriodery on the back of my denim jacket. Not sure of the file format I can open but would appreciate either a Word document (with logo as lare eas possible on 1 page so that it can be reduced to the final size, or a jpeg). I can't seem to copy images / resize without losing the image quality. Please can you send any such images to chris.penn@voweurope.com or advise me where I might be able to down load them. Thanking you in anticipation. Regds Chris

  8. Is that you Moz? Chris
  9. PM's you Buddy. Chris
  10. It was the Parr Hall in Warrington for me in 1985. I'd just started a course at Liverpool University and up to that point my only experiences of Northern Soul had been limited to scooter rallies / scooter club 'do's' and from the early Kent albums. As Warrington is only a short (and relatively inexpensive - student funds were tight) train ride / bus ride from Liverpool it was an ideal venue for me and a couple of University pals (25 years later I'm still in very regular contact with my original 'nighter buddy Neil Brown). I went through the whole night without knowing a single record! Not a one. Chris

  12. I think it was originally covered up by Pat Brady as Lee Otis Valentine & The Lost Souls. I remember travelling all over the country as a young impressionable fledgling 'soulie' to hear Pat play this at ths start and end of his 'sets'. It took me 20 years to get a copy (from Neil Brown - thanks Buddy) on Bell (just about as Minty as you can get) and it's still my No.1 tune of all time as it brings back many, many happy memories. Sourced a copy on Southern Artists for Dave Truscott not long after getting mine and this now lives in France with Trevor Bridge. Still makes the hair stand up on the back of neck every time I hear it.
  13. Many thanks for the extra information Ian. I'm glad that my original post was reasonably accurate (though lacking in the fine detail). Chris
  14. Try John Manship. My mate (Dave Truscott) sold him a copy only a few days ago. It was in great shape when I originally sold it to Dave around 4 years ago and has hardly been played since. Chris
  15. I believe that a more recent 'find' was The Jokers, Soul Sound (Skofield). I understand that a very good mate of mine (Neil Brown) jointly found the first 2 copies of this with Stevie Z in the mid 90's in Val Shiveley's in Philly. If memory serves, Stevie kept his copy and Neil sold his to Ginger. Ian Cunliffe (I seem to recall being told) found the 3rd copy. 2 years after Neil and Stevie found the first copies Neil and I returned to Val's and found copy 4, misfiled under 'T' instead of 'S' (Val's is organised in label order). Bought it for $15 and took and offer from Terry Davis for £1,500 within a week of coming home (paid for the trip did that). Wish I'd kept it though as it was in tip top condition. Chris
  16. By way of conclusion.... A full refund has now been made to David (and the cheque is genuinely 'in the post'). I'd just like to say a massive 'Thank You' to David and to all of you who offered your messages of support (as I was understandably aprehensive about the reaction my post would generate, but a promise is a promise and I did say to David that I would publically acknowledge my error). I am genuinely humbled by your comments and kind words. Chris
  17. I wanted to know which record had cost him £200 and took him 7 months to "track down".
  18. Hi Folks, Many thanks to all of you for your comments / scans / observations regarding the recent enquiry by David Miller regarding the authenticity of the Royal Five record 'Say It To My Face'. Your input was essential in helping clear up a major c*ck-up on my part as I was the seller to whom he referred. I offer an unreserved aplogy to David for my error in selling him a boot when I had genuinely believed I was selling an original record. I had said to David that should this be proved to be a boot I would offer my apology via this site and that's exactly what I'm doing for all to see. A full refund is being made to David and the final email I sent him regarding this most embarrassing episode is posted below (this was sent yesterday @ 18.18). I have never erred in this way before and will canvass opinion / advice / guidance in future before selling anything if there is even the slightest doubt regarding authenticity as I am keen that no-one else has cause to be in any way disatisfied with any dealings with me. I sincerely hope that this genuine error has not in any way brought this site into disrepute and I can only hope that I will not be ostracised by SS and it's members for this mistake. Once again I offer an unreserved apology. Chris Hi David, Further to our respective emails on Friday / Saturday I have conducted further research into the appearance of the originals / boots (this has been helpfully supplemented by the SS thread). I was wrong. You were right. I had sold you what I firmly believed to be an original issue and it has indeed proved to be a boot. I was blissfully unaware of the deep purple (almost blue) original issue label and thought that rich purple colour of the label on the record I sent you was indeed the original. No deceit or misrepresentation was intended and I apologise unreservedly (not only for selling the record but for any embarrassment caused to you if you got 'pulled up' for playing a boot). As I had bought this as an original myself I feel even more of a fool (1. for selling it to you and 2. assuming I'd got a legit copy in the first place). Can you please remind me of your address and I will refund the £100 (plus postage of £5) immediately. I'll also add and other £2.50 to cover postage back to me. I intend to have this record framed as a reminder to check, check and check again before selling anything. I shall, as per my emails early on Saturday post a full apology to you on SS (would you like to see the proposed text before I submit to ensure that you are happy with the content?). Once again, please accept my unreserved apologies; the mistake was genuine but nonetheless it was a mistake on my part. I hope there are no hard feelings. Kind regards Chris

No offence taken. I bought this through Soul Source only a couple of months ago (so that might explain 2 of the copies...it's the same copy twice). My inability to either say "No, I've spent too much already" or accept that my salary does not match my collecting aspirations has resulted in the reluctant sale of this record. Chris
  20. Hi Folks, Up for sale is an Ex+ copy of this ultra rare 45. Only minimal signs of play, sound quality is outstanding. Over committment on other records forces reluctant sale. £1,750 or closest offer (assuimg I believe it's reasonable) by Sunday night gets it. Please contact me via chris.penn@voweurope.com rather than a PM via Soul Source (I can't always log on to the site but can generally access emails). Cheques or cash preferred but will take PayPal if it's a deal-breaker and offers are in line with the asking price. Many thanks Chris

  24. Hi Folks, Many thanks for your comments. The styene copy I have does have the delta number and it appears to correspond with the date of release. The styrene copy looks like it's got a faint Monarch Records stamp in the run out groove. And yes Paul, it does play loudly enough (so may thanks for a belter of a replacement copy). Thanks for your assistance. Chris
  25. Hi, I hope I'm posting this in the correct section; if not please accept my apologies. I'm trying to find out if 'Love Runs Out' was booted. I've had a white demo for years and years. This is on styrene and it doesn't have 2 parallel lines running across the label horizontally. As this copy was well-worn I was on the hunt for a replacement. I was lucky enough to obtain a replacement recently. This replacement copy does have the 2 parallel lines and is on vinyl. Whilst I'm sure that this is a 'proper' version, I'm not so sure about my old styrene copy. Can anyone shed any light on the authenticity (or otherwise) of my well worn styrene demo? Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks Chris
