John Manship Auction Results 14 - 1 - 2014
Scooterboy replied to JOE TORQUAY's topic in Look At Your Box
Can't see anyone owning up. I got a copy from Roger Banks a couple of months ago for £100 and the condition was blinding - looked and played M- and M respectively...well worth what I paid in my opinion. £350+ is a great result for Mr Manship and the seller, perhaps not quite such a good buy for the winner methinks? Chris -
PM/d you.

Scooterboy replied to Ady Potts's topic in Record Sales
Hi Adey, What am I going to have to pay to secure this one? Out of interest, how much did She's Wanted go for in the end? Chris -
Hi Folks, For sale, Nella Dodds, Honey Boy, Wand 1136. NOW SOLD - Thanks for all your interest. Condition is VG/VG+ though I may be doing the record a dis-service. There are quite a few light marks (I suspect the record may have been stored without a sleeve at some point) and a couple of very light scratches - though none of these appear to affect play. I have tried to capture these on photos, but they don't show up at all. I have attached a sound clip of the actual record for sale. As you will hear, it plays really, really well. There is some label wear, this is captured reasonably well on the photos (there is a drill hole too). I would like £250 for this record please and believe this is a fair price given the condition, sound quality and cost of a M- one (which I am told is now in excess of £400). Payment has to be bank transfer or cheque or concealed cash (at your risk) as I have a credit card bill to make a dent in and I don't think I can use PayPal balances to pay Barclaycard (unless you tell me different). Please drop me a line via SS or chris.penn@voweurope.com Thank you for your interest. Chris Honey Boy.mp3

PM'd you -
Thank you John. Do you know if I get hit with any duty on top of the VAT element? Chris
-
Hi Folks, I appear to be having more bad luck (see previous post 'Ever Had A Record Eaten'). It looks like a guy from the USA may have declared a value on my parcel that I'd rather he hadn't. If hypothetically, in case HMRC are reading this, he'd quoted a value of lets just say $2,000, then have you any idea how much I'm about to be stung for in VAT and duty? I am just off for a little weep. Chris

PM'd you too.. -
Hi Folks, I am hoping that some kind soul(ie) will be able to help me. I am searching for Willie Cooper & The Webs - Don't Ever Hurt Me - Dymanic 109. This is a gift for a buddy who did me a massive favour and as such I would prefer to say 'Thank You' with a copy that's as close to Mint as possible. Does anyone have a copy for sale? If so, can you please drop me a note either as a PM via SS or direct to chris.penn@voweurope.com stating condition and price please? I will reply to all messages but please be advised that due to work commitments I may not be able to do so until Friday at the earliest. Thanking you in anticipation. Kind regards Chris

Scooterboy replied to Lambretta Gp 200's topic in Record Wants
Hopefully this one won't have a centre hole that's egg shaped and about twice as large as it should be... ...eh Moz? -
Thank you Mace, I shall seek out the fabled, restorative powers of the glue they call Araldite. If it works 'hoorah', if not, well I'll be no worse off than I was a few weeks ago (except I'll have shelled out for the Araldite). Now then...what record to stick it to? Answers on a postcard please! Chris
-
Still no joy... As Ali G might put it... "Is it 'coz I is black?" Get it? 'Black' refers to the black issue! OK, I don't do jokes...but I do do polite, and persistent and occasionally I do optimism. If you can help I'd be so very pleased. Thank you. Chris
-
Many thanks for the advice Mace. I will have a go and see what happens. Can I still buy a product called 'araldite'? If not do you have any suggestions as to what other glues to use (or what to definitely avoid for fear of them attacking / eating the vinyl)? Kind regards Chris
-
Hi Pete, I am told that the issues are generally harder than the demos, but I'm not entirely sure why. The RCAs that I have are mostly white or yellow demos (and they're more than fine for me). Whilst I was bitten many years ago by the collecting bug I have never tried to collect specific labels before (unlike my buddy). I hope that you manage to find your missing issues and that somewhere along the line some kind soul(ie) will be able to help me repay a kindness to my pal. Best wishes Chris

Still looking... If anyone can help I would be genuinely grateful as they are not for me, but for a buddy to whom I owe a significant debt of gratitude. Thanking you in anticipation. Chris
-
After weeks of trying to peice the record back together, failing miserably, giving up, starting again, failing miserably etc.... I have managed to put the record back together! The only missing peices are from the run out so I have to keep my eye on it. Yes I can hear the 'crack' but only on 1/3 of the record and it's not as bad as I'd have thought, and given that it was a death's door it actually plays through without jumping. All I need to do now is find a way of glueing it from the flip side so that the peices don't just ping out again, though at present I'm a little stuck as to how to tackle this. Semi-result with something salvaged from the jaws (literally) of adversity! Chris

Hi Trevor, Manners cost nothing (though without the benefit of spellcheck on the SS site I hope that I have not erred in my speeling - joke). Hope you are well Buddy. Kind regards Chris

Hi Folks, I tried a few months ago, but to no avail. Perhaps someone who didn't see my last plea can help? Does anyone have either of the following on an RCA black issue please? They are not for me, but for a buddy of mine who's gone out of his way to help me over the last few months. Surprising him with one (or both?) of these is the only way I can think of demonstrating my gratitude as I understand that he needs just these two to complete his RCA 'blacks' collection. Lorraine Chandler — I Can’t Change The Pageants — Are You Ever Coming Home As they are a gift I'd like them in as good a condition as possible (as close to M- as I can). I know that I'm asking a lot...as if getting the above on black issue wasn’t enough of a challenge. If you can help then I'd be most grateful. If not, do you know anyone who might be able to help me? If I'm lucky enough to be contacted might I ask you to do so via a PM on this site or via chris.penn@voweurope.com Thanking you in anticipation. Chris

Your post was just ahead of my question. Thank you. Chris

As a technophobe I am struggling to add an image to this post. But if you Google Leslie Uggams - Love Is A Good Foundation using Google Images you can see the record in the results. Can anyone help me out by adding the image? Chris
-
Are you thinking of Sonday records? Leslie Uggams - Love Is A Good Foundation may be the record you're thinking of. Chris

Hi Folks, The record has been cleaned and played just the once by me (and just to check it pays OK). Looks like it was totally unplayed before I got it (though it was very dusty...hence the need for a clean). £450 includes Royal Mail Special Delivery to UK only. Payment is going to have to be by bank transfer or cheque (cheque to clear before shipping) or concealed cash (at your risk). Bank transfer is my preferred option as I have a nasty credit card bill that needs sorting and I don't think I can pay a credit card bill using PayPal. This is genuinely a beautiful copy. Thank you for looking. Chris

Thank you, I feel a little less unlucky now. My dog cannot hide behind the 'separation anxiety' argument as I was in the house at the time...he just got to the door quicker than me (mind you, I was on the phone and he does have more legs than me). To make matters worse, when I shouted at him he got all scared and did a wee on the carpet! After I'd finished clearing that up I emailed the wife and told her what he'd done and she blamed me! I am soooooo unlucky. If I fell into a barrel of t*ts I'd come out sucking my own thumb! Chris

Gutted does not even come close... Just recieved Jay Bee 'Praying For An Answer' from the USA. Paid $450. Was on the phone when the postman arrived. Heard a commotion. My 7 stone German Shepherd had a grip of the package in his jaws and was shaking it like a thing possessed. His teeth have gone straight through the packaging, straight through the record. The parts of the vinyl that haven't got holes in them are cracked with chunks missing. It's b*ggered beyond belief. It's the first 45 I have had from the USA since having the dog so there was no knock on the door to 'sign for' the pacakage. Anyone else had a similar experience they want to share...just to make me feel less gutted? Chris
