  1. I saw you play that Brett , and your copy is without an address !!
  2. yeah he was Ian , he also told me that he would only deejay in Norfolk ..Huge mistake IMO Ahh add that to being a Top Dj , mileage !
  3. .Went out last night and the sets played were nice records, but imo boringly put together Tezza
  4. I think his U-turn was 1991 Chalky ( I would say it took a while for the bookings to come) . but Steve will confirm
  5. My old mate Andy , said he played it at a gig in Norwich ages ago!
  6. Im not really worried Steve , as I am enjoying retro scenes outside of the Trad Northern gigs. I look forward to checking Oslo ,Sweden , Soul Spectrum in Scotland and other Yarmouths ,Soul Rev's and Lifelines . Keep it fresh all the way Steve youve got the records !! Simon
  7. I had a go at the Fleet too Steve 1984 , you stayed in the record room with Max !! Alas the scene is very different now with hundreds of local gigs and there is only about 3-4 deejays busy enough to break tunes and thats Butch , Sam and Mick H . Theres still hope , as the Euro scenes prove but the UK seems too fragemented IMO Simon ps. If you do have fresh tunes hammer em I say !!
  8. Hmmm well its all a bit hazy but I'd have a bet you played Northern tunes too !! Plus Harry is actually talking about All-niter DJ's , and the Fleet was an all-niter in the early 80's
  9. You were on at the Fleet all-niter Im sure !!?
  10. That means Steve G has been up and coming for 25 years , as far as I know
  11. People will think the Sealeo-Tape is some sort of endangerd animal
  12. But surely these DJ's are protecting their OV or saving on sellotape
  13. Ronnie BARNES
  14. No Ive made no such statments . People who like the same old, same old ,would be classed as Dullards , re: this thread .
  15. Ive not mentioned anything about modern !! and we did drift into Dullards/Dj Lazy thanks to Rod Shard whose points are valid
  16. Yeah a handful turned up , 87ish . Sam also turned one down , and he still remembers it to this day . and yes certainly more records need a rest from playlists
  17. But your still getting great records from John ..Its time to force em on these mamsey pamsey bores !! Oh and Sean Hamsey too
  18. I dont understand that , sorry Steve . Why not play some of your fresher stuff every chance you get . Is it because you feel your UK stuff has been neglected for deejay purposes ?
  19. I was at a venue some years ago near Kettering, the Ritz place, forget the town, Mick H waiting to Dj and the one on before him was playing Bobby Rich (I Think) Girl Somewhere off Grapevine issue. Mick had got the Bobby Rich in his play box, pulled out ready to play actually when on came the grapevine copy. He wasn't too pleased, rightly so IMHO. Chalky Bobby Rich turned up at Soul Bowl 1987ish . Graham Ellis had one and I turned one down So thats a long time ago . I'd say with that 45 , it is time to put it back on the shelf . Simon ps. also add the fact that its on grapevine now !!
  20. I haven't actually called you one yet
  21. No.. and has someone already called you a Twonk on this thread Steve?
  22. Yeah but not as annoying as requesting records you know the DJ has on OVO , and they still dont play em. Hey Steve G ?
  23. You know the score Steve .. Looks like Porto for me that Friday
