  13. For those that dont know, there's a lot of great 70's and 80's on the links below .. Including Keb Drge ,( although hes sold that set , I wonder what his new one's like ..) Dr Soul aka Hitoshi Takasawa , and Chris .B from Norway https://www.soul45.org/ https://rhythmic_freedom.at.infoseek.co.jp/show.htm
  14. Very true Jbrew ..The UK scene has had a divide for decades ( Mecca v Wigan etc) but the Global scenes you mention do seem to use the more Funky and Modern tunes to good affect to younger crowds .with no real divide . Its really is refreshing to communicate with people on these scenes
  15. Dont forget JTrouble Soul Sam was hammering a lot of these tunes in th 80's when they were first imported . He had a much better Mega outing too !!
  16. How about the tunes Jbrew and Saint mention ?
  17. I've got a , weekender booking penciled in , for next year playing this stuff at a famous Northern Seaside town ! ps Very good points from Jbrew , on this style of oldies( and the global scene) !! Power to the Wah wah and disco drum effects man
  18. Ahh I thought he did , thanks for that!! , she certainly had some power ,but I never saw her live , so cant comment . She was ok on her recordings and I did enjoy Invisible!
  19. Yes I agree Steve ..Very nice pop with double cheese to go ! Did Richard Searling play Alison Moyet " invisible " ( great song by Lamont D ) on the radio once or twice ?
  20. Oscar Perry , what a great vocalist . This was played by both Keb and Guy at various niters in the 80's , and quite popular with their gang . PS . Has Adey C found that tape yet !! ?
  21. Yes sometimes Tone I drink with my not so soulful mates in these places (Therefore I can assure you Pop/Northern is Cheesy man )!! Everyone seems to be having a laugh at these venues and I did hear Fatback and Frank Wilson at one last year .
  22. All fair points especially from John Manship. ( I was brought up on early 80's allniters like 100 club, Leicester ,Notts Rock City and Stafford and missed Wigans real impact ) But Vali and Anka are not for me and they are certainly played at Cheese clubs in 2006 (being played at Cheese clubs pubs defines cheese in my book LOL) . As for white vocalists check Angel Rissoff one of my favorites' from 2004 ! " Why me" is just pure soul IMHO ! Plus check "Breakout " https://cdbaby.com/cd/rissoff
  23. Well , errr, Hmmm .I . Im off to play some Bobby Womack LP's
