  1. But how many records does it take to keep a northern box fresh? , Surely theres hardly any records that are fresh, and people have to pad out with intelligent underplayed oldies in Northern sets or diversify like Butch with other genres .( mix it up) How many really fresh hot 60's records do you get say in 3 months or even a year ps. to play underplayed oldies I think you need some sort of collection
  2. Ahh ok what about two or three then ?
  3. Heres 3 nice ones Brothers By Choice "How much I feel" ALA Sam Fletcher "I'd think it over" Tollie New Way "Holding on" Prestige

  5. I tell ya wrighty is like a Viper getting onto a tune , no wonder hes a shit hot DJ
  6. Always been a hard one this .. It sold out very quickly at Soul Bowl when first imported !!
  7. This isn't about oldies/newies/upfront/unknowns/indemanders etc, this is about a focus on the club scene, the adrenaline of the dance and DJs who are not prepared to compromise in their efforts to give the dancers a good party. DJs who compromise, or who are not focused on this should probably not be up there DJing IMO. +++++++++++++++++ I sort of get this James , but you'd have to describe how a DJ would compromise the dancefloor with their set ? As playing obscure sounds , new to dancers , certainly compromises the floor Cheers Simon
  8. A quiz hey , John Anderson and Clarkie must count as Southerners yahooooo!!
  9. Yep I should be there Sean , quite a few southern types coming ..
  10. Too right Robin , was it you who attacked Dave Browning with chocolate cake 1988 Yep its the 40th , next , an amazing feat for Alex ..I wonder what he thought after No 1 ,Berwick Upon tweed? ...Anyone still see Alex ?

  19. hhaha you Munters , I dont need to coverup and refused to do so in the 80's ( no one should these days as Keb said in his interview ) , and Ive certainly got some records that should be on your wants list Steve !!.But .You'll have to get down Mark Houghton's "New Chapter" London to find out what Paul Phillips and myself have in our Volcanic Hot box's .. ps. 20. No problem Gareth always up for the challange Oh yeah whats this green stuff served at Gavins yarmouth doo ..I hope they have some appletise for me , very nice LOL
  21. I was thinking the same Baz .. the turnover of new sounds played out is minimal , I find more that are new to me via the net
  22. When Keb was hot-boxing Northern, ( and of course Guy H ) they had a fairly big turnover of sounds . No one can do that now!! We are all gonna get tired of those same big money tunes that we cant buy and is it really worth travelling to hear them ? ..There is very little northern left be it funky or stompy to be discovered . Diversty is the only way forward for All-nighter music IMO
  23. Well Ive just started packing a hot-box for Mark Houghton's New Chapter ( one of London's top 70's and 80's nights) Its looking hotter than a Scotch bonnet chilli on ya doo daas LOL
  24. The suns out and theres some real Hot Box around , Jason
