  1. Sonny Munro on Epic - with a great deep flip 'Tears'
  2. Me too - didn't you use to play 'Sweet Lips Of Joy' of that album Dave?
  3. $60 for both the bevelled and flat edged pressings ?
  4. Pretty confusing thread this one - people are talking about 'flat' edged and bevelled and in the next breath - as an example - mention a 'raised' edge, how can flat or bevelled be raised? Also how can you have a 1970 copy when it came out in '69?
  5. Album only and cheap - nice sealed copy here => https://cgi.ebay.com/BLUE-NOTES-Truth-has-come-Light-NEW-seal-/130487084414?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item1e61a2e57e#ht_500wt_1156. 15 quid ?
  6. ......and still he does not get half the credit he deserves. Imagine someone dropping three tracks like that in one session these days!
  7. Remember it was my last year at school -so yes '72 Tony. B&S ran a competition for readers to nominate the track listing for vol 2 - which never came out!! I'm sticking with the Probe release as the first issue if only for the OVO merchants having to buy a bigger 'hot box' to accomodate it :o)
  8. So I would guess the original release must of been the Soul Bible comp in the UK ?
  9. He cut it for ABC which was (I believe) unreleased at the time. It came out on the UK Probe compilation 'Soul Bible' - its a great cut of the track. I believe it also came out later (in the 70's) on Rroulette 139 b/w with Eddie Holman . Mike
  10. Don't know how they manage this - a newly recorded vinyl LP,pressed up, printed, distributed and sold for £8.99 inc p&p!!! Great album too! https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004D0YB5S/ref=s9_simh_gw_p15_d4_i4?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-4&pf_rd_r=1S8CPH4TX80VNS19866H&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128133&pf_rd_i=468294
  11. Is Teddy & The Fingerpoppers the exact same track as Cliff Nobles & Co · Gettin' Away flip of The Camel on Phil-La-of-Soul ?
  12. Good to hear I was not imagining the different versions I alluded to in last weeks discussion about this track
  13. Did anyone see this ? surely only a $5 45 like most of his Gospel Truth stuff? nice record mind https://www.rarenorthernsoul.com/Rare-70s-80s/12601/i-know-a-man-who/#product
  14. I don't know why I bother with this forum at times. What with this and the rubbish aimed at Paul Mooney elsewhere, is it worth it?
  15. and the only member of the 'Kind Of Blue' sessions still alive.
  16. Strangely Ruth was born in Durham !
  17. Just pulled out the Contempo 45 and sure enough it is Arranged and Conducted by James Smith although with the same producer - Clyde Otis. Or is Otis and James the same bloke?
  18. Hi Paul - it like Groundhog Day on this list - we had this discussion back in 2007!!! => I'm sure at the time I compared the Quality and Contempo 45's together with the DG CD for the Volt issue (don't have the 45) and all sounded the same to me - might have to compare again - what a hardship Mind the old discussion confirms it is a long time since it was a £30 record!! Mike
  19. Hi John - I don't even think it is a re-mix - the Quality version is faster and more disco, don't even think the arranger credits are the same - although I don't have either at hand (indeed I don't own the Quality release) check 'em out and let me know! Mike
  20. and 'I'm Not Ready ' - Ujima on Epic - the demo is d/s 'A shoulder To Lean On' , Mike
  21. Another favourite is Rozetta Johnson on Clintone the issue of "Holding The Losing Hand" has "Personal Woman" on the flip - another fantastic Sam Dees composition Mike
  22. Good thread Derek. I would nominate - Bill Brandon - 'Streets Got My Lady' - the issue has the awesome Sam Dees penned 'Tag Tag'. and Heywood Cash - 'Give It Up' with 'Messing Up A Good Thing' on Epic (and please don't anyone mention the version they prefer - John Edwards blah blah...) Mike
  23. You are giving that away Richard - absolute bargain !! wish I didn't have it so I could buy it at that price
  24. Which is a totally different version than the UK Contempo release which I would highly recommend. You really need the issue of 'Don't You Worry' for the awesome deep flip 'Try To Leave Me If You Can'. Like many valuable records these days , a last hour spin at the Mecca that I picked up for 85p as a new release.
