  1. This soulful thing is actually a b-side of [Trusting Heart]from 1975, it should've been a single on it's own because of the pure groove it has, a slow burner from the group known for fast ones.

  2. Is this thing cool or not? the great Johnny Moore poured on the soul here sounding as good as ever and that fade, fifties cool at it's best.
  3. Robb, you still da man, I'm an ol friend from the other place.
  4. Ok, I get it, one that comes to mind is Smokey's brilliant tale of drug abuse-Holly.
  5. Talk about a song dripping with slow sexy soul. this little diamond from the great doo-wop group-The Cruisers is all that and more, just smooth and vocally superb from the opening line to the fade...a soul classic!!
  6. Very good album from their Atlantic visit, Melvin Franklin's lead on the gem[I Could Never Stop Loving You]is top notch as good as anything they've ever done.
  7. I don't see a special place for jazz discussion so I'm just asking.
  8. One of my all time favorite artist is the cool-Major Lance, whom I believe had a big following on the Northern Soul scene, his last recording on the[Okeh] lable was his best, the mellow and too cool[Without A Doubt-1967]a serious love sonnet from the Major and the b-side is a killer-Forever-a double sided treat from a great soulman.
  9. I've always felt that Eddie's lead on-The Girl's Alright With Me, is the greatest first tenor lead in soul music history.
  10. One of the great groups of the soul era is The Impressions with Curtis Mayfield leading the way, many hits and good LP's but perhaps their best was the great[1964]Never Ending Impressions with the classic-I'm So Proud as well as the all time standard[Satin Doll]and they will tear your heart out with the sad[Little Boy Blue]and have you dancing with[That's What Love Will Do]of course this is just my opinion, but for my money this one stands alone, great album from a great group!
  11. Oh, ok cool thanks for the headsup.
  12. Most of The Platters 50's output seemed almost too classy for the doo-wop era, a very nice nightclub type of sound just listen to[Harbour Lights-Smoke Gets In Your Eyes]even today I feel like maybe putting on a tux when playing their songs[smile].
  13. A gem from the classic LP[A Lonely Man-1972]this one should've been a single, with a great lead from Eugene Record, it's just too cool.
  14. Lady In Blue is just fun, with-Al Goodman on lead talking bout-standing in front of Woolworth's !!
  15. When Paul sang everybody listened, his lead on[Tearstained Letter]is a killer.
  16. Right on, they could sing the phonebook and get a million seller, and speaking of album tracks..[Born To Love You-Who You Gonna Run To-Say You-Just One Last Look-No More Water In The Well-Two Sides To Love-Cindy].
  17. Out of the windy city-Chicago came a group called The Dukays in the early sixties with some nice soul...[The Girl's A Devil-Festival Of Love-Kissing In The Kitchen-Nightowl] and then they got a big hit with[Duke Of Earl]but lost their lead singer to a solo career, Gene Chandler didn't waste any time either...[God Bless Our Love-Just Be True-Gonna Be Good Times-Rainbow Of Love-The Girl Don't Care-Nothing Can Stop Me-Man's Temptation-What Now-River Of Tears] Gene was a big name in the soulful sixties and he was still around in the seventies[Groovy Situation- Not The Marrying Kind-Get Down]and the eighties[Does She Have A Friend-Please You Tonight]and he's still doing it today...just a legend-Gene Chandler-The Duke Of Soul!

  18. Who remembers this absolute gem written by Curtis Mayfield and recorded in[1966] on the Atlantic label Patti sings her heart out here and the whole production is just beautiful, but it wasn't a big hit, but a soul classic always.
  19. They have been called the greatest male singing group ever, and I agree .. from the early days with Al Bryant[Dream Come True-Slow Down Heart-I Want A Love I Can See]to the classic period with David Ruffin[The Way You Do The Things You Do-My Girl-It's Growing-Get Ready]or the Dennis Edwards era[Cloud Nine-Runaway Child-Just My Imagination]it's all good cause the hits are timeless as are the great singers...Eddie-Paul-David-Dennis-Otis-Melvin-Richard-Ali-Glen-Damon,great songs-great moves-great harmony, my favorite group as I'm sure many of your's ..anyone who loves soul music has a favorite Temps song or performance, imagine an endless menu of soul there for the listening.
  20. What a cool classic group that evolved into-Ray,Goodman,Brown, my fav is the gem-With You...do you have a favorite?
