When Harvey Fuqua came to Motown he brought his group The Spinners with him, but as good as they were there didn't seem to be much use for them in the recording studio, although they did get a hit or two-I'll Always Love You-It's A Shame they were very underused so they left for Atlantic Records and struck gold...How Could I Let You Get Away.. I'll Be Around...Rubberband Man...Then Came You...Love Don't Love Nobody...Sadie, and many more, a story of determination and soul.
Very nice song that would've been big had it been recorded ten years earlier, sadly when Clyde did this on in-1969 his career was near it's end but he still had the great vocals but sadly no hit.
We all know songs that have been hits and another song that sounds like the follow up,now of course sometimes that's exactly the case[Quicksand-Heatwave]but I wonder about some others...I'll Always Love You-1965-I'll Be Around-1972-The Spinners...Come Round Here- 1966- Baby,Baby Don't Cry-1969-The Miracles...Beauty's Only Skin Deep-1966- More On The Inside-1982-The Temptations, my point being that they weren't follow ups but seem to continue the story.
Between the fifties teen idols[Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers-Little Anthony & The Imperials] and the Motown sensations[The Jackson Five]of the late sixties, there were Burke family group-The Five Stairsteps who had a string of hits-1966-71 under the tuteledge of Curtis Mayfield they were the first family of soul and later were joined by little[Cubie]a shoutout to a good soul teen group.
No, not the latest science fiction flick but cool b-sides...I Dig Your Act[A-side-I'll Be Sweeter-The O'Jays]...Let Me In Your Life[A-side-Use Me-Bill Whithers]...Fading Away[A-side-Get Ready-The Temptations]...I Still Love You[A-side-Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye-The Casinos]...I Need You[A-side-Never Could You Be-The Impressions]...I'm So Glad[A-side-Don't Be Afraid-Frankie Karl& The Dreams]...He's Just A Playboy[A-side-I've Got Sand In My Shoes-The Drifters]...add em if you got em.
What a naughty fun song this one is, about those fresh[schoolgirls]..do she, you think she don't, will she, you think she won't...there may have been a few stations that banned this one back in the day, haha-nice fun from a great fifties group.
