In the very early days of ebay I set the alarm but now I've used bidnapper for the last few years - tried esnipe before but got kicked off for not paying their outrageous fees best way to bid IMO is using a sniper you put in your maximum bid and that is that - its great to watch a 45 go from zero to a thousand dollars in the last six seconds lol
All is fair in the vinyl buying stakes and thats from someone who has lost out more times than I care to remember

three different 45's for three different reasons:
Dobie Gray - Out On The Floor - Charger
The first original US 45 I bought and the last one I'd ever let go - call it played out but to me its the epitome of a Northern Soul dance record and I still love it. I sometimes drop it into a set in the midst of the rare stuff just to show I'm not a vinyl snob and it never fails to fill the floor
Jimmy Burns - I really Love You - Erica
Took me years to get a copy and doubt I would ever get another if I sold it.
Doni Burdick & The Fabulous Thunders - Faith - SIR
A personal gift from a man with whom I became good friends and so it has a lot of sentimental value. Its surreal telling my soulie mates who stay in my spare room that Doni Burdick stayed here lol. Maybe its not the worlds greatest dance track (its a cover of the Melvin Davis version on Mala ) but in terms of rarity its right up there - I only know of two copies and I've got one. A definite keeper.
I never used to like selling anything but now I'm more inclined to let things go to help fund things I really want - I'll be listing a few in sales this weekend
Enjoy your weekend

I remember the days of regular bargains on ebay, sadly long gone. You used to know most of the Northern collectors because the numbers were a fraction of today - gentlemens agreements about bidding or not on records amongst collectors was par for the course . Competition with other auction sites can only be a good thing, particularly as ebay are going to start charging a flat rate of nine percent sellers fee on final values for all vinyl sales from March first. It soon adds up when you take paypal on sales because they charge another 3.5 percent or so on top.
Ho hum

Top tip Pete - first one I tried it on is now approx 6 inches across with more creases than an unironed shirt - then I realised I'd knocked the temperature up to cotton tried it again on another one on a cool setting and while not perfect is deffo an improvement and as they say is now "fine for DJ'ing " wouldn't recommend it on anything too pricey though unless it is a last resort
Cheers Mate!

Any tried and tested tips Boys and girls for straightening warps out of vinyl 45's? Just got a record that was advertised as warp NAP but its got a tight heat warp and the needle skips at any weight.... as the seller refunded my money I've nothing to lose in trying to get rid of or lessen the warp

I'm writing a magazine piece connected with Chicago soul and would be grateful if anyone could supply me high res scans of the following original 45's:
Mel Britt - She'll come running back - FIP
Mist - Life Walked Out - Twinight
Visitors - Little gold band - Dispo
Would prefer clean labels - please email to info@eastangliasoul.co.uk
I will credit you in the article for your help!
I'm away from Monday to Friday next week so if I haven't acknowledged anyone, I will do as soon as I get back
Thanks very much

Probably the most iconic venue in the UK - not just because of the 6t's allnighters - I personally used to get a kick going to a club that has crossed over so many genres of music from Jazz to the Pistols to Northern Soul.
The hundred was the venue - the 6t's rhythm and soul society is the music. I am so glad I can look back and say I went there - but before we all get too hung up on the venue and turn this thread into an obituary, just remember that even though the nighters at the 100 may be gone, the music continues and I for one will enjoy it just as much wherever I have to go to hear it
In the words of that Hamilton fella, baby don't you weep - Off we go to Jacks at London Bridge - bring it on!
Here's to the future Ady

Mary Saxton definitely one - spoke with her a few months ago and she still lives in Canada
Allen Sisters - strangely enough recorded their only 'soul' tune in London at the Decca recording studio I think, but it was only released in Canada - like Mike said very prolific artists in both 60's and 70's.
Mike
the stingers i refuse to be lonely/do the cissy stax ex++ £50.00
Nice price and a great tune still to become well known - I remember John Manship auctioning this a couple of years ago and it definitely went for at least £150 probably more
