  1. I recently came across another UK based Northern Soul site on the internet, well actually it says it is the UK's number one Northern Soul website and no its nothing to do with KRL ...... Anyway click HERE and have a read of the article titled getting it right.... Just wondered what others think as to the concept of only using the term Northern Soul for oldies nights? If you have an across the board policy of mixing in newer sounds are you committing a trading standards offence As the Sun would say - are you the promoter who claimed it was the punters fault or do you know who they are? Feel free to voice your (non libelous) comments
  2. Does it come with the CD? I put myself down for a copy on the authors website yonks ago and never heard a thing....... Is it thirty five including postage? Yes to those two questions and you can put me down for a copy! Cheers Mike
  3. Blimey that makes us Soul collectors look positively normal people at all nighters moan about a record being repeated more than once in a night... I bet the 'Summertime Connection ' get togethers are a right bundle of fun Mike
  4. Then along comes some tw*t with a dollar more  Post up if you land one Paul because I'm still scouting round for you
  5. Here you are - this Is the local Shiptown label release - it also came out on Scepter which is a slightly different mix - this is a real audio file not mp3 I'm afraid! Cheers Mike
  6. Now standing at 2750 USD The thing about the new ebay system where bidders identities are hidden presumably makes it a lot easier for a seller to get his mates to bid up the price? I did have a record of this guy not that long ago and it was rated as good with some surface noise throughout - it did clean up alright and infact the noise cleaned out to a level that is irrelevant for DJ'ing with - but the description he used then in the listing made it sound far better than ernestine eady - this looks far too knackered and given Quinvy's experience the buyer could end up with a very expensive piece of tat and no way back with the seller Mike
  7. I do sympathise that you have lost money and you obviously feel aggrieved because the buyer hasn't responded to your emails but before I join in any condemnation I would be interested to know the buyers ebayID and see their feedback. Having been on the receiving end of bad sellers ( of couse I'm not suggesting you are ) who have cost me money and even refused refunds when I have returned the goods then I'm more inclined to resort to the paypal fallback sooner rather than later. I once went along with endless excuses from a seller called oldgrandparocks - check his feedback - and got to the stage where it had been left so late I had no recourse. As I said I do sympathise but not sure whether this forum is the place to vent your frustration in this instance unless the buyer in question has feedback to suggest he's trying it on???? Cheers Mike

Tony Owens - This Heart Can't Take No More - Soul Sound Ex £15 International GTO's - I Love My Baby - Rojac demo - Mint minus SOLDBell stamped original - beautiful condition Patrice Holloway - Stolen Hours - Capitol - mint minus £250 Beautiful condition copy! Leo Price - Hey Now Baby - Up Down VG SOLD The release that was covered as The Lee Crandell Experience and gets the plays out - Normally see this for up to £400 - this copy is fine for DJ'ing but its a little scruffy - there is a tiny edge crack on the run in which has been repaired and does not affect the play and a label tear of approx ten percent of the B side label. All that said it plays really well - it has some surface fine scratches probably from being unsleeved but nothing deep that clicks etc.
  10. This has been tipped as one set to go - Last copy on JM's auction sold for around six hundred quid - Craig Moerer has one advertised at six hundred dollars, which at the current rate is about three hundred quid - his VG+ are usually nice copies - maybe an opportunity for some one to pick up a copy at a reasonable price JM has a soundclip on his ROR section - if you want to try and get one go to www.recordsbymail.com Share it about thats what I say ( but only after you've bagged one for youself ) Mike B

    Manship

To be honest Nev I can't see the prices these sell for being ficticious - its no secret John charges fifteen percent to auction your records and the majority of the records he auctions are not his but other peoples, there would be no point in him 'creating a price' because it would mean he would earn nothing from the sale, which would have already used up some of his webspace for the previous three weeks or so. Since John started bringing out his books he really has become a global brand name and probably attracts more people to his site than anyone else. Certainly I know who some of the bidders are on his auctions even when they have usernames and they are genuine collectors. The other thing is that John will take trades against auction items so some bidders will go higher than usual because of the trades they can put in against the final price.... just my take on it all! Cheers Mike
  12. I'm happy to bow to your superior knowledge, I know next to nothing about 70's stuff - just remember when I spoke to the label owner he said they had recorded a band called Sex - and they were deffo not based in NO - probably just co-incidence that it was the same name All the best Mike
  13. Nothing to do with the value but I think this was put out by the same guy who owned southern city records (paramount four / poodles ) I interviewed him around three years ago - he was really embarassed about the groups name lol. I must try and find his number and see whether he has any copies (being that its a modern tune I didn't ask him for a copy at the time ) ATB Mike

  16. By the way don't be tempted to buy the Hayes Cotton LP because the version of BWHMA on there is complete pants  unless you like modern How do I know? Because I bought the f**ker ex + and only 125 GBP to the first buyer ( actually there are a couple of alright modern album only tracks on there ) and seen it sell at twice that! Mike B
  17. Anyone know what the Precisions on Drew went for? I know what I was outbid at Thanks Mike
  18. Got to be honest I'm not convinced about that - most of the big spenders on the scene are known ( particularly in the UK ) and I would be very surprised if any one of them was a big enough spender to pay 20 - 25K for a rare but overhyped 45 - I'll stick with my UK copy that I bought off Pete Smith for a tenner Do I love you indeed I do Mike
  19. I'm with you on this Dave - I thought it was 15K for a collection of sorts that included FW Mike Bolderson
