  1. First class piece of Soul which strangely enough was already down on my play list for tonight in Cambridge Mike
  2. Personally I don't care whether it is dog rare or costs a fiver as long as it floats both mine and the dancers boat..... Rare soul? I've got a record called faith by Doni Burdick and the Fabulous Thunders - a cover of the same song by Melvin Davies on Mala - only 100 copies were pressed back in the 60's - 98 have disappeared, presumed destroyed - 2 remain - and I have one. Buy Dave Rimmers SKM magazine in March and read all about it. Rarity or quality? I know which one gets my vote! that £5 dancer Rgds Mike Bolderson

  4. Mine only just came through Tony so perhaps it was around the same date I cut a deal with him - you could always email him now saying you are interested in a mint one and see what his reply is
  5. Hi Marc - thats the reason for putting the sellers 'story' up on here - time will tell and if he offers more copies then it will be interesting what he says to other prospective buyers Mike
  6. I bought a mint copy from this ebay seller for what I consider to be a reasonable price. Been there with the Montclairs a couple of years ago and taking a chance then paid off - whether Clara Hardy goes up or down I'm not that bothered because I bought it to play not as an investment can't see it going to £50 at any rate! Anyway, according to the seller he had six copies in total - five mint and one he described as being in bad shape, he told me that he advertises in the local paper and that he came by the 6 copies from somebody responding to this ad. He said he was selling me the last mint copy. This is of course what he is telling me and only time will tell but thought I would share it with you. How many copies the other seller has ( I'm talking about the guy from Hamtrack who put one through ebay ) is anybody's guess, but he hasn't listed any recently. Personally I think if anything this 45 will be another Montclairs with limited availability rather than mega quantity.... You pays your money and takes your chance Mike B
  7. PM me if you have a copy of Jades Hotter than fire on Cherry Red for sale please Thanks Mike B
  8. If it's a changed ID (rather than a new one) you can look up their user name history
  9. Jackie Day suddenly seems to be in vogue for people wanting to rip other people off methinks - that copy that went through a week or so ago that was won by someone on here - can't remember who but they live in the States near to the seller- well the seller is now no longer registered with ebay... This current one - I emailed the seller to ask why they changed their user ID and asked if they would share their previous one so I could look at their feedback plus finally asked if it was a scan they had done for the listing - suprisingly (not) no reply ..... As always if it looks too good to be true it probably is Mind I must admit thought that about the 2 copies of Jonny Maestro steppin' out of the picture for six dollars each until they actually turned up Mike B
  10. I haven't bought off her for a while Mate but given where she lives its not suprising ... lots of water damaged labels I would guess.. Mike
  11. Allnighters at weekenders are great - not far to go to get to bed (unless you are staying on the site next door at Cleethorpes ) - I am definitely too old to do a nighter and then spend a few hours driving home unless its as a passenger who can go to sleep in the back But I do like nighters particularly after about 3 am because there's loads of room on the dancefloor Never been into extras to keep me awake all night but maybe the change in licensing laws will keep me going longer 'cos alcohol makes me hyper Mike B
  12. I forgot to say look at the feedback of the guy who bid it up to $1000 cooklotd6tae or more specifically look at what he has bought recently - in the words of Ray and Dave its all wrong wrong wrong -
  13. If it looks too good to be true then it usually is I'm with you - too many scams on ebay - low feedback , not consistent with other previous sales - someone might get a bargain but I'd definitely pass this one up.. Mike B
  14. A right mix on there most won't break the bank and nearly all have sound clips so even if you ain't going to bid you might get to hear something new To have a butchers click HERE Thanks for Looking Mike B
  15. Are you sure that Bobby Woods is an original? I had one in my hands a while ago and I was sure it was a pressing and ones identical have been sold as pressings- DJ copies not copy printed on label.... Would be interested to know how you know its a definite original and whats in the run out? Cheers Mike
  16. Regular evil bayers will know all about bid pay - part of Western Union specialising in money orders for ebay wins - as of 31st December they are no more -customer service only until end of February - for those people who want to bid on an auction that takes money orders only you'll need to find an alternative! Anyone know cost of money orders from high street banks etc? I have transferred money directly into a US bank account before for around a tenner - fine for the bigger money stuff not so good for a cheaper record... Mike B
  17. Its one of them love it or hate it records I think Mark but probably the nearest I'll get to JB or Bobby James unless of course I went for a re-issue perish the thought - I remember someone on here offering a copy up a few months ago but not sure how hard it is ? I guess its one that disappears into collections and stays there.... One day Happy New Year all Mike B

  22. I remember asking the seller of these on ebay about their origin pretty much after they first appeared and he told me it had been taken off a master and released with the permission of the now deceased artists son or something... anyway he didn't try and make out it was an original although again he didn't advertise the fact - shades of Johnny Watson on Valise... some people obviously think it is an original because I know at least one US seller who has it up at something like $200. Anyway I subsequently got a copy as a freebie from someone - complete with authentic 'just rubbed across the floor' scuffs on the blank side! The vinyl its pressed on has a 'lip' around the edge which I've personally never seen on any 60's releases but certainly have on stuff pressed up in more recent years. Anyway as a freebie it got my vote as a half decent tune
