  1. I've slaved away all weekend sorting out sales stuff - in total I'll eventually be listing a few hundred 45's - the list is on my site as it is too big to paste here... 5. QUOTE(J-Brew @ Nov 18 2006, 09:49 PM) Children In Need Charity night @ The Park Hotel, Tynemouth - 'Modern' room set - I played a bunch of my favourites for about 45 mins as below... Always wondered what this would be like as a venue? - I used to live behind the Park Hotel - other side of the Metro lines - Do they have regular events on there? Wouldn't catch me at a 100% modern night though but would probably make the trip for old times sake if there is a next time with a Northern room as well..

  7. If cheatin' kind is out of your price range console yourself by buying this one Is this really love / Tighten up your love bone I'm told this is the rarer of the two yellow labels - clean labels - glossy vinyl - a few light marks and some dimples NAP in the surface. There are a couple of brief light pops which is consistent with all copies you find probably a pressing fault. I'm away from the PC from 3pm Sunday 12th until late on Friday 17th so first PM received gets it and I'll get in touch when I'm back. £250 including special delivery in the UK - please add three percent if you want to use paypal Cheers Mike
  8. Can't help with prices but there are three releases that I know of: 1. Sound of soul label - with girl backing singers 2. Sound of soul label - No backing singers 3. Golden triangle label - No backing singers - this is a second issue (legit) as far as I know released in the 70's as part of the 'free angela' campaign in the USA. Angela being someone they wanted to get outta jail rather than give away with the 45 Sure someone will give you current prices on them Cheers Mike B
  9. Top tune - picked up a mint minus copy for just over £200 on evil bay a few months ago which I thought was a real good price - rarely seen it for sale - played it out the last couple of gigs I've done Mike B
  10. Here you go - taken from a Tower demo - this side's not quite my cup of tea but then again not really into deep soul... Enjoy Cheers Mike B World_Column___Its_not_right___Tower.mp3
  11. just in the middle of doing an mp3 now - will be up in a few minutes
  12. The fella who did the chris clark / frank wilson duet did it for fun and never made a secret of the fact they did it - also didn't do it for profit as far as I'm aware and I for one was impressed by their ability to mix two tracks lol.. There was a CD doing the rounds on ebay a few months back that with the exception of an authentic sounding female vocal to Right track was clearly done using whatever software is available - easy to work out upon listening really. Still a few people coughed up a few quid for the CD. Some tracks sound better pitched up or down on the decks but doctoring them and trying to pass off as originals is definitely below the belt.... Whatever next Mike B
  13. Pete does the styrene one have the bed mark in the run out as described in JM's book - I've got one that came from the east coast - identical label to yours deep blue with silver writing and a matt finish - no bed mark or nashville matrix has vki 10386 and 65vk636 in the run out on the slowl slipped away side - Is it a real one? Certainly looks it to me even without the 'bed' mark What do you think? ATB Mike
  14. What a timely thread - both sides of this 45 were played last night by Ady Potts at our night in Cambridge - it has to be said both tunes went down very well with the dancefloor (as did the rest of the 45's he played ) top sounds
  15. Posted one recorded first class today and one special delivery insured for up to a thousand pounds - both in proper record mailers... No real change on previous price 1.35 recorded and fiver special delivery.. someone on ebay wants to charge me three quid for 1st class recorded for a 45 as well!! Mike
  16. I'll be posting some 45's in record mailers recorded delivery tomorrow or day after so if no-one else comes up with a definitive answer mate I'll tell you the cost. Cheers Mike
  17. On this autograph thread here's a story - a few years ago I bought a copy of open the door to your heart b/w if you walk out of my life by doni burdick from a UK dealer. Anyway the open the door side had some writing on it - last year I hooked up with Doni before his prestayn appearance and sent him a scan of the 45 - it turned out that not only was it his autograph on the 45 I had but also he remembered the person he gave it to as she was someone he worked with when the record was released... what a small world Mike
  18. I've Pm'd you about this
  19. Some of the boots - thinking of the paler blue label ones in particular - have a dip in the sound towards the end of the track - dead giveaway Mike
  20. Legal release - I stand to be corrected but as far as I know it was issued in the 1980's and Ty's version of "ain't that love enough " was never previously released until then - only the version by Larry Atkins of course - the lyrics are very similar to "I ain't lyin " which Ty Karim did at a 100 mph Phew! Mike
  21. Sorry Pete mate I know this is after the event but I thought the first press looked like this???....
  22. Not in Essex but in Suffolk where you can count the people still active on the scene on one hand As for the 100 I usually take the train and meet up with some lads from Norfolk but we tend to stick to the nighters with a warm up beforehand - first train out of Liverpool Street is ten past seven Sunday Morning... Not sure how many soulies Essex can muster - Is there a mini bus full???? Suffolk is so soulless we run our nights in Cambridge Mike B
  23. Interesting Pete - I guessed it might be the Soul Fox version but it didn't sell though so I'm still stuck with it
