  1. Praise the lord, hopefully the first Motown compilation (since Chris Kings 2 x Northern Motown) that is wholly aimed at the dancefloor and not the armchair. Some of the 7s boxset choices were to be listened to not danced to and hopefully this compilation will put things right. Licencing may have held back some wanted choices on the 7s sets but now there is even more from the vaults to come by the sounds of it. KTF
  2. Thank you for the heads up will check it out. KTF
  3. Hi just going through oddfellows nighters and found one of my faves. Play the link I have here from a soundcloud playlist and at about 21 minutes left to go 25 minutes in it's the track after Lonely Lover. I think it was covered as Ann Perry and The Sherry's. Been trying to track it down since 1984! Many thanks https://www.mixcloud.com/mark-jones14/keb-darge-leicester-oddfellows-march-1984/
  4. Agree with you about 1978 onwards my brothers went before me but I didn't go til 1980. Myself and Chris [brother] always went from main room to second room depending on line up times but a lot of people literally walked in and straight out.
  5. Going to The Fleet tonight see you there?
  6. I came 2nd and got a Motown lp from Brian. Johnny Cockrell won Supremes My World Is Empty Tamla Motown demo Fleet oldies room always open from 1980 onwards.
  7. Could be The Fleet where Brian Rae was often playing rare RnB for 2 hours. Whilst everyone else was heading for newies. Other Djs played in there too often playing stuff before trying them in the main room. Brian Rae well ahead of everyone and pretty sure other Djs went in there and picked up tracks from Brian in that Fleet oldies room.
  8. Green onions modern take with vocal By Odd Fellows Soul in Soul Music News Side two of this Original Gravity release has a vocal over a modern take of Green Onions. Both sides good Mod/Soul. Other releases to check out are Néstor Alvarez Para Que? and Luchito Vacillon/Broasted or Toasted - all 3 on Original Gravity. https://originalgravityrecords.bandcamp.com/album/find-myself-another-man
  9. Lonnie Russ Say Girl / Something For My Love Kerwood
  10. I don't go to many events but wondered if this David Ruffin track gets playlisted by any djs. It's atop tune and a perfect candidate for that crossover track that seems so popular. It was released legit as an lp track on the David Ruffin previously unreleased Motown album set.
  11. Thank you to all those that have completed my quest, much appreciated. Many thanks Mark
  12. Hi watched this and love the track playing in the background. Anyone tell me artist and title please. Many thanks

  17. I saw that somone purchased TAVASCO - ($79) on my wants list on 6th of April. I was gutted to have missed out until I read of the others listed. BEWARE my friends if it seems too good to be true it probably is.
  18. Help to set a new standard of live Northern soul acts at the Hinckley all nighters. Popcorn, Eddie Holman, Junior Walker, Major Lance and of course Edwin Starr amongst others. Massive Motown advocate on the decks when djing at Hinckley even before the Motown discoveries. My condolences to his family and close friends.
  19. Top left Richard Gibb with Frank?
  20. A surprisingly good selection of tunes, The Miracles is one Motowns' best ever IMHO.
  21. Thank you to everyone for filling in my blanks pots as I could not remember the full track listing. My brother had a copy and used to play it at home in between nighters.
  22. Anyone with a full track list of the various artists lp with Mel Britt and Shammettes on it. Also how much it will cost?
  23. Can anyone help I am trying to track down a decent audio file for Ray Comacho - I Told You So. The only one I can find is on YouTube but it's a bit ropey. Many thanks
