The Nu-Ron's - All My Life / I'm A Loner - Mixed by Tom Moulton

Let's see, where to begin. Let's start three months ago when the pressing plant push back the pressing date for no reason.. or 5 months ago when my dad when in with a life threaten emergency and I spent two months by his side while recovering and unfortunately missed the "proof" stage of the labels.. but once we figured that out the place that we get our labels from said they were having paper supply issues. Or three weeks ago when they landed and the records were damaged and we have had to go through every single box to find acceptable records to send out (which started shipping today, we got 30 orders processed and will continue on Monday) - or how about two weeks ago when I shattered my collarbone and missed 7 days of work and still am having trouble moving around enough to print sleeves, fold boxes and all the other BS that comes with fulfilling orders. All this is to be said, the orders are finally starting to go out.. they are being processed at the rate we can handle - all the records are being inspected for damage before shipping because we want to minimize the returns.. All the UK orders will go in box to a friend in the UK who will then disperse them.. they will be out hopefully within the next two weeks. It's been a shit show believe me.. but i am hoping to be finishing the orders up within the next two weeks. Attached are some pictures of what we are dealing with.. Let's see, where to begin. There will be no mistaking these from the original - maybe "exact" wasn't the right term, close to the original would have been better - thanks. -

The Nu-Ron's - I'm A Loner / All My Life - Exact replica of the original 45 released in 1971 - Originally recorded October 27th, 1970 - The songs were produced by Emanuel Campbell & Charles Bowen and have been lovingly mixed from the original 16 track multi's - Mixed how he "would have mixed MFSB (the backing band) in 1970", by mixing engineer Tom Moulton, then mastered by Peter Humphries of MasterWorks. This would have been the original team working on these tracks back in the 70's, both are legendary in the Philadelphia soul music scene. Depending on pressing time expect to see these mid-May. LIMITED PROMO EDITION AVAILABLE WITH SHIPPING INSIDE THE UK (CHOOSE UK SHIPPING OPTION) The Nu-Ron's - All My Life / All My Life (Alternate Instrumental) (PROMO) Limited to 250 copies. Comes with the never before heard Alternate Instrumental B-Side - This version contains the original track on the A-Side and a alternate version minus the strings on the B-Side, it's a uptempo Northern stepper. The Nu-Ron's - I'm A Loner / I'm A Loner (Instrumental) (PROMO) Limited to 250 copies. Comes with the never before heard Instrumental B-Side PRE-SALE STARTS NOW: https://www.brewerytownbeats.com/ -
All My Life - The Songs Of Manny Campbell - Brewerytown Records

The New Establishment came first.. a company in NY via a local connection licensed the song from Manny and I think there was some sort of name infringement that lead to the band changing it for the new release. -

The Carolynn Porter tracks / session were done in 1968 as you can see by the take sheet.. The Porter stuff only exists on 1/4inch mix-down tapes (as far as we know) The Delights tune was the first cut on the 16 track multi's - so my thoughts are that the rhythm tracks for this song in particular were transferred to another tape 2 years later.. However the members of the backing band stayed the same. Baker, Harris, Young (and Eli on some occasions). It is unmistakably Earl Young on drums throughout this entire session, and Tom Moulton has said there is no doubt that it is Norman Harris & Ronnie Baker - This is also Don Renaldo's string section, and interestingly enough, every song had a "dry" run-through with just the rhythm section before Don Renaldo and Co joined in. Hence the alternate takes on some of the tunes. -

Vinyl is coming, along with a series of 45's - I'm just impatient and can't wait for 5-6 months times for the vinyl. I agree - Such a special tune -

We have been lucky enough to get our hands on some amazing Philadelphia music. This project we have been working on for some months now might be the best one yet. In one single day back in 1970 a relatively young producer by the name of Emmanuel Campbell Jr hired the Sigma Sound Studio backing band, later to be known as MFSB - to lay down several tracks so Manny can bring his cast of singers and other musicians.. it’s amazing to think that in one day Manny Campbell would work through, The Delights (featuring the 15year old Peaches known to the world later as Brandi Wells) The New Establishment (one solo 45, highly sought after by funk collectors) & The Nu-Ron’s (one of New Jersey’s finest vocal groups) - on two different 16 track multi’s we have loving remixed and re-mastered (with the help of Tom Moulton on a few of the songs) some of the best sweet soul, low rider soul, r&b, funk and northern tunes! Album to be released in the upcoming months. Thank you to: @jeremyzombie for the amazing design Tom Moulton for doing what you do, and loving this music so passionately Pete Humphrey’s - who would have been the mixing engineer at these sessions and has “golden ears” on the mastering. My crew at Brewerytown Beats for the willingness to put up with my obsessiveness.. Mixing engineer - @mdiddium - for the hours of mixing & rebuilding tunes with me. Soon to be released on Brewerytown Records! Preorder: https://brewerytownrecords.bandcamp.com/album/all-my-life-the-songs-of-manny-campbell -
Next up for Philadelphia record label /store Brewerytown Beats - The previously unheard sessions from Graterford Prison funk & soul band Power Of Attorney. Recorded in two separate sessions, one in January of 1973 and one in April of the same year. Two of the tracks from the January session were released on an extremely hard to find 7" (https://www.discogs.com/Power-Of-Attorney-Changing-Man/release/9801918) the other 4 tracks were previously unreleased - The band had minor success when Stanley Vincent (Ooh Ooh Child fame) produced a 1974 LP for Polydor Records. The material on these earlier tapes proves to be raw, gut wrenching deep soul cuts - many songs emulating the sounds of the day. Completely remixed & remastered from the original session tapes. Listen Power Of Attorney - I'm Just Your Clown Bittersweet love ballad - previously unreleased lowrider soul from Philadelphia. Power Of Attorney - Changing Man The reflective “Changing Man,” an original composition by McDowell. “It tells the story of a man who made a mistake, and after a while in jail, he gets his head together, and realizes it’s time to straighten it out,” the 21-year-old serving life for murder, told The Philadelphia Daily News nearing the single release. Power Of Attorney Re-Mixed and ReMastered from the original 2" reels, this MONSTER soul/funk jam from Power Of Attorney band, a 6 piece band from Graterford Prison, originally recorded in 1972 at famed Philly studio, Sigma Sound. Out NOW on Brewerytown Records - The complete Cougar Records recordings from this little known Philadelphia songstress. Rose Rouse Bryant AKA Mitzi Ross had only a few singles released through her short lived career as a Philly soul singer. Her C.R.S. Single entitled Man Hunt was released last year through a Tramp Records compilation, but the paramount single in her arsenal was the massive drum heavy tune “I’ll Do More For You Baby” released in 1970 on Cougar Records from Camden NJ. Max @BrewerytownBeats has spent the last year digging into this little know singers career only to find the original mix down session tape with two previously unreleased tunes (both songs were recorded as well by Ann Byers and released on Cougar, but Mitzi adds he own twist to these never before heard songs) Spotify https://open.spotify.com/album/6kiSOXpyK2Et3fuEuECLhQ?si=s3EgRLEOQiynx1h1czMkSg Also on ITunes and all other streaming services. Enjoy!

Now Out - The Thompsons - I'll Get Over It Vinyl Lp
Brewerytownbeats posted an article in News Archives
The Thompsons - I'll Get Over It on BCW Records. Relatively unknown Philly Soul from 1975 Re-Mastered with Liner Notes and never before seen photo's of the band. Gatefold LP with Japanese style OBI Promotional Video From Dusty Groove: A tremendous album from a totally hip Philly soul group of the 70s – the kind of quartet who would have been huge, had they recorded in another city – but whose genius was most likely eclipsed by the superstars that were stuffing the Philadelphia scene at the time! These guys have a great way of blending the rough with the smooth, the sweet with the funky – a vibe that's maybe more in the mode of some of the hip acts on Stang/All-Platinum, especially The Whatnauts – or with the badass vibe of their contemporaries Soul Generation – all with a sound that's got a lot more raw power than you'd guess from their rented tuxedos on the cover! The production is nice and raw – just dynamic group soul vocals, with just the right touches of funk instrumentation and larger orchestrations – all with an edge that really hangs on, even on the mellower numbers. Titles include "Love In Her Eyes", "Message", "Invincible", "You Gotta Get Down To Ever Get Up", "I'll Always Love You", "I'll Get Over It", and "We Love To Sing" https://www.dustygroove.com/ Bandcamp https://bcwrecords.bandcamp.com/releases -
