  1. Up the city, fantastic, city on 45 yep includes that classic graham cross tune 'the tank' cheers
  2. Always thought it was this old heart of mine slowed down but even so I still think its got that new retro sound about it. Sure there's been a few of these knocking about for a few years, too raw and stylised but luckily I found one in my attic but when I pulled it it down I fell off my ladder and snapped it in half and then stubbed a fag out on it. Cheers. Ps update , just spoke to a dj friend of mine and he reckons he used to play it at the broken badger (early doors) always fitted into his sett. Too underground for me. 3. Both sides I bet someone knows ? But one side not a prob, clear all label crap, lay on flat surface, tiniest drop of super glue on edge and then tiny bit of tape on run in 25 mm x 5 folded over both sides. Leave for a while and drink about fifteen cans of carling plus a few vodkas and play. It will sound great. Well that's what I do. In recent months I have knelt on bobby bland ( clean snap in half) Barbara McNair your gonna love my baby which I threw my house keys at and snapped plus hole in run out groove. Eddie floyd which I broke while drinking said cans and snapped in hand while falling over and then managed to break dean Courtney (kneeling on) while moaning about breaking Eddie floyd. While writing this I shed a tear, thinking about the creations - dream one of my all time favourites, had it in my hand telling my mate how good this record is/was obviously my passion for tune made my grip too strong for brittle 45. Cheers. Ps please check my website for record sales, am selling half my record collection, many bargains at half price

  13. Maybe the answer is there ? I dont know but I remember meeting tammi lavette at Blackpool and being asked what would be a good stage name for her ?????? Personally I thought something like ' Aretha Otis. Levi Wilson Gordy Motown rarity would have been fine. Hey my mam called me pete. Keep the fat , I do. Cheers
  14. Hiya, not heard said track but do remember his daughter -niece singing it. Also remember having a drink or few with the backing band who she sang with and they were the called the zoney metres, all young guys into funk etc. she was a good singer, all based in London and were keen to record tunes and didn't know much about the soul scene which we have spent all our lives on and were keen to know more. Last thing I remember was can we join the band, you know the crack. Alco soul. Good. Late Saturday afternoon at cleethorpes. Cheers
  15. Before I sign off, it's a shame I never hear andy rix or Steve mith playing out their tunes these days, Opened my ears to some quality tunes. Cheers
  16. Funny thing, carol & gerri. In later years the other side became a big tune early 9ts and people tried to play it under cover and Everyman and his pet iguana knew it. Cover ups were exciting though, But the best is when you play a tune and someone walks up and goes ' I've got this etc etc' and it's blah blah!!!! Ok mate now ' f..k off
  17. Hey Steve, heard you play some great sets. Would'nt let some of those tunes anywhere near me, I get home with a little. Crowd and go ' wait till you hear this f ..ker. and then either play it and take it off and fall over or kneel on it with a little snap- crack. And then exclaim ' who broke my ernestine on Phil a soul. My regular trick these days! Will take this onto another feature. Cheers
