  16. Event: Byron Northern Soul Club Review: 5 stars by Longin The Tooth. Event Date: 3 Aug 2024 Byron was this weekends offering and what it offers is totally unbelievable. For those of you that I havent considered going there you are missing out. The venue offers a university course of musical delights and its there to educate and provide pleasure. What makes it that notch above other venues is that there are deck cams, so you can see OVO. This allows the punter to see whats being played and the next cued record. Personally its educational f... 18. Following the recent release by The Ellis Hall Group via Super Disco Edits last year (a lot of positive comments on here), we now have news of the second upcoming release from this talented group. Release notes follow below... Release Notes Welcome to our second release by the Talented Ellis Hall Jr and his band out of Boston from 1978. The group caught our attention a few years ago when we spotted a lengthy performance they did for a show called "Night Shift". These two songs the summer "Music , Sweet Music" and "Forward Motion" didn't make that tv show reel but we dug deep to get these cuts out for you. "Music, Sweet Music" is such a lovely summer vibe, like a mix of the Blackbyrds and Stevie Wonder all rolled into 2:38 short but Sweeeeeettttt!! "Forward Motion" is a much more funkier vibe which almost sounds it could be a new wave funk record! Really kicks in after the opening horn bars with rasping drums and melodies. Audio - The Ellis Hall Group - Music, Sweet Music Audio - The Ellis Hall Group - Forward Motion Artist The Ellis Hall Group A-"Music, Sweet Music" B-"Forward Motion" SDE 69 Label Ellis Hall Records Format 45rpm The full line up from these recordings are Ellis Hall Jr (Keyboards/Vocals) Patty Unitas (Vocals) Pat Thomas (Vocals) David Fuller (Drums/Vocals) Michael Thompson (Guitar) Stanley Benders (Percussion) Pre-order and more details https://superdiscoedits.bigcartel.com/product/the-ellis-hall-group-music-sweet-music-45rpm-pre-order

Great mix mix of new releases, rare modern and Northern played by all the residents and guests Simon and Ginger. A big thankyou to Wayne, DC and the team for organising the event. I really enjoyed the dj spots from Richard Trump, Wayne, DC, Alfie Linney and Pep, as always quality tunes in a wonderful venue. MY WORD!, GOBSMACKED OR WHAT??....totally took the building by surprise, to a man and woman, even sporting a grey beard!, snuck past us all casually sauntering along behind a deadpan Robbo who didnt give anything away....delayed reaction is an understatement...then met with lots of handshakes, back slapping and huge grins...the Prodigal Son returned!....first n foremost: a top bloke secondly, a great dj and a proper personality.... 23. Event: Culcheth W Ginger Taylor This Saturday Review: 5 stars by Mickyfinn. 2 member rated this review helpful. Event Date: 3 Aug 2024 As expected, another stellar night of soul music at Culcheth. The main problem is there are two great rooms of soul and only one of you. Baz Maleedy seemingly has the gold standard in tuneage for any genre of soul. Here he got things going in the main room, with some tracks that remind you why you made the effort: Clarence Hill and Lee Williams & the Cymballs, Lost Love. With some lesser-known gems, Webs “Don’t ever hurt me” and James Dockery ... Tap to view the full event review
  24. Event: Rishton Soul Club Nr Blackburn Review: 4 stars by Soulfulmerlin. Event Date: 4 Aug 2024 Nice little Venue. Off street parking. Small Sprung Wooden Dancefloor. Great hosts. Well worth a Sunday visit. Drinks £3 pint larger. Good company. Thanks for the Invite. Tez played some cracking choons early doors. William Maley and Caff great sets mix of R&B Northern. Enjoyed my day, unfortunately surveyed from having a carbonated drink. Lesson learned. It ended my trip out. Keep up the good work H Tap to view the full event review
  25. Event: Culcheth W Ginger Taylor This Saturday Review: 5 stars by Eddiefoster. Event Date: 3 Aug 2024 QUALITY QUALITY QUALITY - Culcheth delivers again, both musically and socially a great night all around (in my opinion of course). The icing on the cake was the appearance of my friend Lord Bob Hinsley after a (far too long) stay of absence... I spent all night in the main room but heard great reports about the groove from the modern room so job well done the guys in control of the wheels in there Baz Maleedy kicked of the main room - in fact a...
